I had to pause my workout and walk across the room to my phone to comment that NO ONE, no matter how hot or nice or good at sports they are, is worth turning down a major career move. If they care about you, they’ll make it work long distance or help you find a compromise or something. You should never, ever be the only one sacrificing things in your relationship. I hate that trope so much. “Ooohhh but they’re in looovveee” ok and? There are other ways to show devotion that don’t involve shooting your career in the foot
"They're in love" until they've had their fifth fight about who should change the baby's diapers and wash the dishes, and all of a sudden she's bringing up the fact that she gave up her career for him and he gets mad because she's "holding that over him to get more money out of him", and all of a sudden the father only gets the kids on weekends and has to pay child support. So many of these books build up the "will they won't they" aspect just to rush the MC's together at the end, but we don't actually ever see how they work as a couple.

this was really weird to watch as a chicagoan, because like. did the author think we'd be offended if she used the teams' real names? because we don't care. we know how shitty our teams are edit: i was also very confused that there was only a single team for chicago, when having two baseball teams is really important to our sports culture. the baseball team you support says a lot about you over here, and there is legitimate bad blood between the fans of the teams. sure, it's not the most pressing thing in the world, but the dynamic is there. you can really tell that the author is not from chicago because she has very little grasp on what being a sports fan is like here

ngl Warrior Wednesday is almost enough for me to start listening to sports podcasts just to see if theyre anywhere as entertaining as that was. That felt from the heart, there was authenticity in that bit and I got nothing but mad respect for it
