Stays, let's try our best to make sure Chan never finds out about this 'book'. So please don't mention it anywhere other than this comment section. I can't imagine how Chan would feel if he actually read it knowing the love interest is based off of him.
As an author myself, I feel uneasy about this book. To base an entire character on a real life person, but to a degree where except for the name change, everything about „Chan“ is the same, really baffles me - especially since the author didn't even take the time to thank him in the author's note. Like if you take After by Anna Todd as an example, that is quite different, since the character was never Harry Styles from One Direction, but it was basically just a dude based off on Harry Styles with the same looks, but totally not the Harry from our universe. This right here is Chan from our universe, and to basically copy and paste a real life person into a book is such poor work, because there has to be some sense of a difference between real life and fiction. Even books based on real life events change some things up. It really seems to me that the author only did this to profit off of Chan, since they are not even a Stay themselves. That's also why it is mentioned in their tiktoks, but not at the end of the book itself. It is okay for authors to be inspired by public figures, but dang .. they took it to a whole nother level here.
the part about the author profiting off Chan and STAYs, 100 percent, I agree, that's exactly what this author did and that's not fair, especially since, like nichie said, the author mentioned it time and time again. But... I disagree about the Anna Todd part... Tessa's love interest in the book was Harry Styles, 😗and Anna *did* take Harry from our universe and place him into her own story, only Anna Todd's journey is wayyy different... Before 'After' was officially published, Anna had written and published a fanfiction, named 'After', on Wattpad (by Anna, imaginator1D as her username still is to this day lol). As in, Harry's name (and every other 1D member) was in her actual writing that was published on Wattpad. But it was a fanfic lol. She published around 3 ('After', 'After 2', 'After 3') of these 100ish-chapter fanfics about Harry Styles/1D. During this time on Wattpad, (2013, i believe) her fanfics gained traction, which ultimately won her those Wattpad award thingys. So, her writing was recognized and she landed the opportunity of publishing her books through Simon & Schuster the following year. And that's what she did. She took her fanfic and literally changed all the names from the 1D members to Hardin, Landon and Zedd and whoever else (Niall and Louis' characters were less significant in the published books). But Anna never, like, REALLY, talked about the book being a fanfic and never tried to get fame from Harry or 1d as such. I think her journey as an author is different... the writing she was doing for fun turned into an opportunity, not like this author who's publicly making it known that this book is about Chan, basing her career off of him. His family could see that, he could see that... Anna didn't do any of this... she actually went to her wattpad, once her books were published, and changed Harry's name to Hardin, obviously to respect Harry and his image, etc. this author... idk hopefully Chris doesn't see this...
As soon as I heard about this book and heard it was heavily based on Chan, I knew it was gonna give wattpad, Anna Todd type of energy. The front cover really sealed the deal too 💀
the thought of chan finding out this books exists gives me second hand embarrassment😣it gives me the vibes of those old one direction fanfictions…i cant believe we are in the timeline where similar stories are written and PUBLISHED abt skz like its so funny to me
Okay to start with... it is not about straykids! Every character an author writes is inspired by something or someone... and here that someone is Bangchan.. he is just an inspiration.. its is not a fanfiction. Know the difference
You people are really funny to me. You guys hail the webtoon artists if they draw their character based off kpop idols but cringe and post hate if someone writes a character inspired book?
@@abiyama1383 A picture doesn't feel obsessed...to be honest, granted you can't tell if the painter is but as long as they don't draw them naked downstaris it is a picute. A book is indeed a different story and am pretty sure this isn't the 1st Fanfiction (inspired) book that was ever made it just 2nd hand embarrissing for some when it is so flipping obvious who the main characters are based on. Like at least give them an attribute that isn't shown on Camera or that obvious it is about this person from this Group. And what the Kpop Artists think if they know about it is a lottery. Probably same with shipping some despise it, some are kinda whatever part of the job and some are like "been there done that." ;) So is it ballsy or 2nd hand embarrssement I think it'd depend on the overall story and how it is written.
@@abiyama1383its not a character inspired book, its literally just him 💀 no "inspiration." drawing a webtoon character who looks similar to an idol is completely different from writing a s*x scene about them.
It’s one thing to get inspired by a person, and give a few of their characteristics to a character, but to basically copy and paste a real person into your book really doesn’t sit well with me. I think it makes it even worse how the author has repeatedly used Chans fame to draw attention to this book. Chan has worked so hard to get to where he is, and it just doesn’t feel right that she is using his success to market her book. This really sounds like she just quickly threw a book together to make some easy money because she knows that his fans will read the book out of curiosity. It’s actually kinda smart but not very nice towards Chan. I wonder if him or his company could sue?
Me as a Chris biased: Cringing, shouting, crying, kicking the air, hitting myself, pulling my hair, wishing to get lost from the existence out of embarrassment, pitying Chan, and crying even harder...
there's a huge difference between writing something on wattpad / actually telling it's about a real person and PUBLISHING a whole book "inspired" by someone without actually saying it that's so cringe tbh
Ok, so I'm a SKZ fanboy and now I'm a little scared and uncomfortable lmao. How??? Why??? Ugh, I hate it. I will NEVER understand the fanfic obsession and the fact that so many films are inspired by them is just yucky to me. I really admire and respect Chan SO MUCH and he really doesn't deserve to have Wattpad-kinda stories based on him. I know many idols know about fanfics but it's so gross to cross those boundaries and to write love stories with questionable plot lines. Enough is enough!!! Thanks for your review though 💞😪
When i think of falling in love in Korea, I think of fireworks on the beach, chimaek at sunset along the Han river, the classic ttokpokki at the street stall, tanghulu(though now the trend is sago) coffee dates, and your partner always giving you the best pieces of lamb skewers/ samgyopsal. Or, my favorite, going to the jjimjilbang and just relaxing together. Dont forget all the Ahjuma saying how you will make beautiful babies. Therenis a reason why almost no dramas are set in winter. It is vecause winter in Korea SUCKS. Also, you dont give numbers in Korea, you give Kakao. No way you need directions when Naver maps exists. Also, unless you are following all of the fan pages, you arent really going to just 'run into' kpop stars. Their lives are incredibly controlled and it is actually very sad. But, Ive passes a few famous movie/tv stars!
This book is sooo unserious like the part where they’re flying back to LA and she like dreams that the plane is crashing ?????? JDJDJDKSNDND It also didn’t sit right with me that she basically took vulnerable things Chan’s actually said in interviews and just like, copied it word for word for AJ 😕😕😕😕 especially bc this is like a real book that she’s attempting to make money off of ??? Honestly so many things didn’t sit right with me like why was Jace so awful and the way he’s portrayed and him being the only LGBT+ character. Giving the mean/overly sexual gay stereotype 😭😭 I could talk about everything wrong with this book for hours (I literally made a powerpoint on it and almost made my own video when i first read it LOL).
Brilliant review!!! I just think it was disrespectful to write and PUBLISH a book containing a sex scene about a REAL person without that person's knowledge or consent... makes me feel very uncomfortable.
When I heard about this for the first time (through the author's Tiktoks about it)... it felt so invasive to me? Writing fanfics is one thing, but actually using a real person they don't even know and writing a whole romance book about them just feels so damn wrong. Especially since it seems to be a self-insert story by the author, too. Which in itself is a very... well, special genre to begin with. There surely was no consent given either. It just makes me uncomfortable.
Have you not heard of character inspiration? Y'all were very happy when it spread like wild fire that han seojun's character from that one webtoon was about han jisung and bangchan (btw it was not true actually) but now this inspired work makes u uncomfortable? Funny but whatever... why read it when it makes u uncomfortable
@@abiyama1383 isn’t Seojun’s character based on Jay B? Besides, those two are different cases I’m pretty sure since with this book, it’s obvious that the main guy is just a Chan 2.0. But with Seojun in true beauty you couldn’t even tell it was inspired by someone and if you could he wasn’t a complete copy of whoever he’s inspired by, even with Suho and he’s is based on SeokJin, he’s not a SeokJin 2.0 but his own character.
@@_unimpressed_robot_9882 yes it is but when people started talking abt how it had some of the costumes worn my chan and han ... ppl started talking it was abt them and every stay I saw happily invited that idea of drawing a whole webtoon based on their biases.. but then .. how do u think these two are different? Do u understand genres? The book is not based on Chan imao. He's just the character inspiration for a Character in the book and nobody is invading his privacy here. Understand the difference between fanfiction and fiction imao🤣
@@abiyama1383 I didn’t say the book was based on Chan, I know it’s based on a girl going to Korea and falling in love with a kpop idol and I know it’s a romance novel. What I said that they made the character that is inspired by him an exact copy of him when that’s not what inspiration is. If you’re gonna use someone real for inspiration then you take aspects of them and put them together while putting in your own ideas as well, not straight up insert the actual person into your book and change their name. True beauty did good with this because Suho and Seojun are their own characters and not at all a SeokJin or Jay B 2.0, but with this book the main guy (don’t even remember his name) is so similar to Chan that there’s pretty much no difference between the two. That’s why I think those two situations are different. And do I know that difference between fan fiction and fiction, but taking a real person and changing nothing but their names and claiming that as your original character isn’t fiction. There’s a fine line between fanfiction and fiction and this book is leaning towards fanfiction, but since the characters are “inspired” (even though it really isn’t) by real people then it’s considered fiction.
@@abiyama1383 and besides, the character being “inspired” by Chan isn’t the only problem with the book. The writing and the plot needs work and this is where criticism comes in handy so idk why y’all acting like op is some villain ruining the dreams of a writer when criticism is actually helpful.
Fair enough, I haven't read the book. And I'm German, so I don't dare to touch the topic of grammar issues and writing style. But based on all the reviews this once again seems like a book that had very little research regarding the k-pop industry preceding it. To me it feels like the author came across Chan on TikTok and was in awe with him (valid, tho), yet instead of taking to Wattpad she wrote a whole book for self-publishing. It's just like another missed opportunity to get people interested in k-pop or educate them about the darker sides of the industry - And let's not talk about the name issues with Lee, I'm preferring to not make my brain hurt by thinking about how this is wrong on so many different levels :/
When u said Chan started apologizing on stage abt his friend's circumstance and what a stay would think I immediately thought of KWJ's situation lol💀💀💀
The absolute CHILLS OF CRINGE I felt when I read the title of this video, hoped it was fake... but then I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt. "If it doesn't mention who it might take *slight reference* from and approaches it in a mature and realistic way maybe it could have its place in the world and be interesting?" ....After listening to the review I regret everything. How did this get approved?? I can only pray that Chan and Stray Kids never find out about it, this is embarrassing and honestly quite disgusting.
My comment is very, very long because I had to pause the video many times to express my thoughts and feelings about the book. I just want to note real quick that the timestamps I put are meant to represent exactly WHERE IN THE VIDEO I PAUSED, EXPRESSING MY THOUGHTS ON THE TOPICS/THINGS THAT WERE SAID BEFORE THE PAUSE TIMESTAMPS. Enjoy. thought(pause) #1: i havent finished the video yet...i have the video paused at 6:24. this sounds like it's a story that was originally published on wattpad, and should have stayed there. but let's continue. thought(pause) #2: 8:54 yeah this sounds like one of THOSE wattpad fanfics thought(pause) #3: 10:01 ....i cant thought(pause) #4: 12:41 ....bro wha- i- no....IN A HUNDERED PAGE STORY???????? thought(pause) #5: 14:29 this sounds like HORRIBLE writing in the sense of storytelling. and from a writing stand point (taking away the context of chan being the idea behind the love interest) it sounds like there is absolutley NO BUILDUP OR PLOT at all. there is no cause and effect, just chronological events happening with no concequence or influence within the later events, conflicts, or solutions. now with the context of chan being the idea of the love interest it's very unnerving, and i havent even personally read the book. it sounds as if the author did think of chan in mind, and then thought about making that writing detail public in order to get publicity for the book. okay continuing the review of what ever this is... thought(pause) #6: 15:04 im back...only lasting thirty seconds. genuinely...is that considered as sexualizing chan?? as both a stay and purely just as a person, i would NOT want chan to read that because with scenes and content like that about a person, especially with the horrible writing, it's in a way dehumanizing. like the book doesnt even do itself justice. and like a couple of days ago, hannah posted on twitter that she felt left out because no one writes fanfiction about her. it was most likely a joke, but all of the comments and replies were telling her that no, its better that she doesnt; to hurry and delete the tweet; for her to be careful about what she wished for, and everyone was genuinely warning her about her statement BECAUSE OF WRITINGS JUST LIKE THIS. oh my god... thought(pause) #7: 19:00 because the concert monologue scene is all in english at A KOREAN SHOW goes to point out even more that the author did not put any realistic NOR logical cognitive process into the writing and research of the korean culture. yes, the protaganist is from america, but the story is set in korea, so if you are going to tell the main "plot" within korea dont factor in cliches or concert culture of america. i hope some one understands the point im trying to get across. like just because the protaganist is an english speaker should not be the reasoning of why a whole monologue is expressed in english within a korean concert in korea. it could of actually added some flavor to the book if he said it all in korean without her knowing what he said, only to add some emotion to the scene that would later come if he ended up explaining to her what he said; but thats just the writer in me ranting... thought(pause) #8: 19:37 .....this makes no logical sense. its obvious the target audience for the book is meant for us older, of-legal-age stans due to the college protaganist and attempt of the 18+ "scene", but us as the assumed target audience get pissed off at how unrealistic the events are. like yes IT IS FANFICTION IT IS NOT TRUE HENCE THE FICTION, but there are no logical events and aftermath of things. i have a really bad headache listening about this book. thought(pause) #9: 20:20 literally what you said is like my previous thoughts thought(pause) #10[DAMN]: 21:43 at this point chan's depicted character should have been a solo artist in the book and felix's character be like his trainee best friend or something and not even talk about a group when there is no group discussed at all. i have been watching and typing this comment for over an hour thought(pause) #11: 22:57 details are meant to have influence and even shifts within the plot at their certain moments to progress the story and character development. the only detail that has some influence is the detail of the protaganist being a nursing major, other than that nothing from what you have pointed out. this is literally a new-writer-just-starting-to-write-on-wattpad fanfic. very poor and sloppy writing. thought(pause) #12: 25:30 GRAMMATICAL ERRORS?!?!?!?! HOW WAS THIS EVEN GIVEN A GREEN LIGHT TO PUBLISH???????????? Now im really tempted to rewrite this entire idea as a novel. Wanna be my reader and editor? Writer to writer? thought(pause) #13: i just finished the video, and my god...i fried my brain taking this in. as a writer i am so baffled about this book from a liturature standpoint and from a humane standpoint. i literally cannot use my brain properly anymore, and it's 3:40 in the morning so im gonna go sleep this "story" off. I hope yall enjoyed reading my thoughts and rants, it was exhausting. okay bye!
i havent read it and i didnt want to read it cuz i only knew about it through the author's tiktok that appeared on my fyp...the premise of it was already cringey enough and i was confused why ppl in her comments were hyping it up cuz these types of book NEVER, NEEEVVVER end up good ESPECIALLY IF THE MAIN CHARACTER IS BASICALLY THE AUTHOR. im not surprised at all that it ended up being one direction y/n wattpad-esque....i dont want to come off this rude but gosh damn i cant help it when i expected this since the beginning, she really dragged chan, a real celebbrity in to it, and i hate y/n wattpads anyways. why didnt she just make it a wattpad... basically uses chan for clout to get stays to spend money on it. please chris, never come across the authors tiktok. There were so many comments talking about how Chan would be honoured to know about it. idk it just fuels the main character syndrome
Ok, I write fics myself, and spicy chaps are very common in this „genre“ and idols actually read fanfics or have written fics themselves… but this book right here… There are so many plotholes (she’s a Muslim but sleeps with a dude she’s known like for what? Two days? Her parents would not leave her travel to Korea, so I believe they would absolutely turn her life into hell for sleeping with a Korean/Non-Muslim/ pre-marriage!!), unnecessary parts/ no impact mentions (as the guy she rescued at the club just to get back to the detail that she’s a nurse/healthcare student), misleading mentions, and many more things that don’t add up in this book 😬 The dialogues are like people talking via Twitter… and so much more… 😬 I’m not a perfect author myself, but at least make it a story that has a main line and side stories evolving around it. But always keep the main idea as the main thing! Ah… there’s so much to say but like you said… nnah!
honestly i thought about buying this book but after ur vid he'll nah 💀 nothing against the author but this sounds like ur stereotypical "idol x y/n" wattpad story and most of the things you've mentioned make me cringe. also that this story is SOO obviously about skz and EVEN their family yet they weren't even mentioned or credited 🤨 and im not even fully through ur video
Yes!! Thanks for the video! I was going crazy thinking I was the only one who didn't like it. To be fair, the author dives more into the Pakistani American side in the second book, which I also read ( what can I say, I like punishment). But as I have more or less the same issues with the books as you did, it's not enough of a saving grace.
I really liked your video. From your description, the book really sounds like a bad Wattpad fanfiction. I feel really bad for him and hope he never reads this book. Could you make a video about the history of the Stray Kids universe please.
Loved your review! I didn’t read the book and so i have to thank you for saving me from that pain. I had a good laugh watching your reaction and i’m actually curious what you’ll think of the second book if you read it. I know i won’t but i’ll watch your video if you decide to react to that one as well
This book is horrible. I am so embarrassed and really hope skz will never ever find out about this (although the chances aren't very high i guess). Thanks for your clear statement that this is wrong on so many levels! 🙏🏻 I don't have tiktok (or any other social media besides youtube) so i don't know about your content there. But i really liked this video, so if you decide to be more active here, i'm definitely in for it 😊
It sounds like a messy fanfic😭there are a lot of things that are just so wrong in here cus i think u mentioned she’s muslim or from a muslim family if I heard correctly and i donno it seems…disrespectful?? not only that but the storyline itself is just so cliche… this is only my opinion tho no hate to the author whatsoever just wished she could’ve written it better..
Thank you for making this video. This might be a lot to ask but could you do all of us a solid and take one for the team again? I really want to know what the 2nd book entails but I can’t bring myself to spend money and time on it. This might not mean much but personally loved this video and review, I really hope there is more to come. Thank you again!
In my opinion this books plot is not worthy to read and she basically (in my opinion) used him to sell a book that isnt even worth reading Like being w someone who you have know for 10 minutes while you are a kpop idol? Dating a STRANGER when you will leave the country you are in like 2 weeks? A stranger in a country youve never been in? Speaking english in your korean tour (not like thanking the fans but thalking about your "friend")? No unique information about the MAIN characters? IF she had a better plot with more pages MAYBE i could understand it but what it is now is just awful! If she didn't mention bangchan probably no one would have even read it. The title sounds horrible and the cover is not sth that catches your eyes WHY WOULD YOU EVEN PUBLISH STH LIKE THIS?
How old is jace or wtv his name his to go on dates with hannah and how old is zarah to be going on dates with bangchan and why r they dormmates.. theres so much going on??
OMG I love your reaction to this book 😍 I think your video is way more better than that book 🤣 if you start doing videos on yt, I will watch them 🙋🏻♀️
Thank god we have unlimited Characters to comment on YT 🤣 I saw your 2 tiktoks and even until the first 5 mins of this Video i Was NOT SURE AT ALL if you loved or hated the book 🤣 After finishing the Video, I'm gonna save my 10 Euros for the skz concert in europe 🤪🤪🤪 Aaaand i'd like to mention that i would have loved to have such Kind of book reviews at school!! Not the boring ones but the one Where you Listen Full of excitement with a book in your Amazon cart Not knowing whether to buy it or Not 😁👍 what would changbin say? JUTDAE! get it, read it and judge it yourself! 😁 (still gonna donate the money directly to skz 🤣👍)
Holly s*it, Istg that I saw this coming the second I saw that tiktok of the author, I'm so embarrassed... my God I can't explain the cringe and second hand embarrassment I have from knowing this book exists... it gave me ugly flashbacks of the After series lmao 🤣 HAHAHAHAHA I'M SO SORRY CHAN And there's other 2 books! I'M REALLY SO SORRY CHAN!
First of all i like reading but am not anywhere near giving criticism Idk if anyone said this or not but as a Muslim i can tell she did not do her research AT ALL Idk what to say, i usually don't comment but i couldn't keep this to myself, all i wanna tell her is if ur not going to do ur research the right way don't write about it and represent our religion the wrong way pls And this is not only about my religion but it looks like she did 0 research when it cam to it
The love interest is not Chan... he's "Just" the character inspiration. Nowhere it is mentioned that it is "about" Christopher. Every written article has it's own muses... and here the protagonist is inspired from Chan. If people out here are so cringing over this "fictional" book... why don't u go read something that's too real for y'all. This is called fiction for a reason because it's born out of someone's imagination.
did you actually read the book to juat say that? if the character is described REALLY close to an actual person this isn't fiction, it's real personality just being used in the book.
@@taetaerinn_ unlike most of the people in comment section..I have read it...and also if she didn't specify that she took the character inspiration from Chan.. would u even know it??? Not really. Some one took inspiration from a person half the world loves and I don't find that weird... and in no way is his private life exposed or his name tainted. It is not a fanfic in anyway if u might see clearly
Guys, this is getting out of hand. I mean, yes an author should be able to take criticism to build them stronger and to understand readers POV, to know what should/shouldn’t to write. But, I think the author meant good and not harm. The author just wanted to share her writings through a book. I mean, if they published the book, the publisher saw the potential on the book dont you think? to write a book and to publish ‘em is not as easy as it look right? they meant something. the author is new on this environment and they should handle it well. But from my pov, the ‘criticism’ that spread around, I don’t think it’s criticism at all. It’s like a very negative and hate-towards comments. Maybe some don’t like it, but also maybe some do. It depends on others taste. But to write a book with a fantasy genre, it takes courage and bravery to make that action. I think there should be a way to criticize a book without hating. And the author just said it was inspired by Chan. Not 100% everything about Jace is based on Chan. Regardless the author is a Stay or not, she just got inspired by Chan. Chan was just the inspiration behind it, not saying that Jace is Chan with a twist. It was a made up and this book is fantasy genre. I believe with a wiser and nicer words of choice to criticize, could build a stronger writing from the author. Not everyone is perfect from their firsts of everything. Let’s not spread hate, guys.
It’s self published thru amazon, there isn’t a publisher. Amazon just prints them as they get orders, it didn’t go thru anyone other than the author. Which you can tell lol
so what if the book’s giving wattpad tho? i mean, the author can put her own imagination for good reasons. and it’s just a book! we all enjoy reading a fantasy book where we can imagine our own story with our beloved idol, aren’t we? i personally enjoyed the book! it was cool and refreshing at some point. and for those who said that chan would not believe that this book existed, yes he wouldnt! he wouldn’t believe that he could inspired people and he’ll be proud and honored that there are people out there that inspired by him and in awe with him. so what’s the point with negative thinking and hatred towards the author? i mean, let’s not waste our time to do something unimportant. your words could discourage the passion that once were there in someone’s life. let’s not dim the light guys. let’s spread love and not hate. keep our words together and let’s be respectful to eachother. surely even chan wouldn’t want us to spread hatred.
author should be able to take criticism in any form, if ONE book review is making them "want to quit" - then this industry is not for them, because you NEED to learn from your mistakes.
First question: Is ur native language English? Second question: why are you dumb🤌🏾🤌🏾in your own language??? Know the difference between a fanfiction and a book having a character who is inspired by someone 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
I would love to see the reviewer and all the people with the negative comments write a book. It’s easy to break someone down who wrote out of passion, than to do the same thing they did. Once you all write a book that takes 100s of hours, btw, then please do come and criticize.
So they aren’t entitled to their opinion? The book is based on a real life idol. Fans of said idol are allowed to read and react. It’s a glorified fan fiction. Stop acting like they took years of their life to perfect a masterpiece.
@@scarlettri0t363 and how would you know that? Do you know the author personally in real life? If not, I wouldn’t assume. Secondly, nothing wrong with being inspired by someone and writing a character based on them. People use real life people and events in that persons life as inspiration for their stories in movies and television shows all the time…. Hence the “story inspired by real life events and characters” in the beginning of some movies and tv shows.
@@ChaiAndMakeup We’re not going to agree. Is this your book? You’re fighting so hard for it. People are allowed to not like a book. It’s about an idol I am a fan of and it’s a glorified fan fiction. Other people can enjoy the book. So go be mad on another channel.
you do realize that you do not have to write books to be able to critique it , right ? since the author has PUBLISHED this book for the entire public to see , anyone is allowed to criticize it. the reviewer wasn't even being harsh , but rather giving insight as to how certain aspects of the book are weird and could be written better. if the author cannot handle criticism, perhaps they shouldn't be publishing books in the first place.
"imagine you were there, just like trying to enjoy the show... and all of a sudden your best leader goes into this whole rant on apologizing for his wrongdoings" I can't stop laughing I'm so sorry 😭😭 anyways... fanfictions are one thing because the nature of them is that they are explicitly not real, not supposed to be real, and are not trying to sell a product by using someone else's image... publishing this and advertising it the way the author did is what truly bugged me🥲

“oh no i’m trapped in a maZe oF meMories”- 😭
Please I hope Chris never hears about this 😭
He probably will 😭
Bless him.
Thank god it's not Chan's hand in the cover
Me as a Chris biased: Cringing, shouting, crying, kicking the air, hitting myself, pulling my hair, wishing to get lost from the existence out of embarrassment, pitying Chan, and crying even harder...
I stopped saying "this can't be real" after like 10th minute.
My heart dropped when this video appeared on my recommended page. And I wish it never did.
i agree, especially with the smut part. why would you try to get chan to read the book knowing there's a scene like that in the book 😕😕
Chris knows all…esp on tiktok. I’d bet my nonexistent first born that he is well aware of this. 🤦🏻♀️
there's a huge difference between writing something on wattpad / actually telling it's about a real person and PUBLISHING a whole book "inspired" by someone without actually saying it that's so cringe tbh
JDJDJDKSNDND
It also didn’t sit right with me that she basically took vulnerable things Chan’s actually said in interviews and just like, copied it word for word for AJ 😕😕😕😕 especially bc this is like a real book that she’s attempting to make money off of ??? Honestly so many things didn’t sit right with me like why was Jace so awful and the way he’s portrayed and him being the only LGBT+ character. Giving the mean/overly sexual gay stereotype 😭😭 I could talk about everything wrong with this book for hours (I literally made a powerpoint on it and almost made my own video when i first read it LOL).
Oh which interview.. coz I never heard of it
Brilliant review!!!
This was a surprisingly well made rant-review, I for one really enjoyed it! Seems like the long form content suits you just as well, as tiktok!
It's just like another missed opportunity to get people interested in k-pop or educate them about the darker sides of the industry - And let's not talk about the name issues with Lee, I'm preferring to not make my brain hurt by thinking about how this is wrong on so many different levels :/
there is no way this book exists 😭 it’s definitely giving wattpad
Damn i was losing it from the beginning but i completely lost it at NotChan's friend LEE bdndndjshdjfjdndjdd
When u said Chan started apologizing on stage abt his friend's circumstance and what a stay would think I immediately thought of KWJ's situation lol💀💀💀
this feels like a fever dream… i cant believe this is a real book
Man, I'm not a KPop stan or anything, but what I do know is that a LOT of nightclubs deny entry to any foreigners. So, like,
The absolute CHILLS OF CRINGE I felt when I read the title of this video, hoped it was fake... but then I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt. "If it doesn't mention who it might take *slight reference* from and approaches it in a mature and realistic way maybe it could have its place in the world and be interesting?"
....After listening to the review I regret everything. How did this get approved?? I can only pray that Chan and Stray Kids never find out about it, this is embarrassing and honestly quite disgusting.
everything you said was so accurate and i fully agree even without reading the book, why did the author get so upset 💀
Man I wanna have so much money to the point where I can get drunk and accidentally buy tickets to korea lmao and then concert tickets too
Im 3 minutes in and it feels like a self insert fanfiction...
so it's like a wattpad story someone made when they were a preteen and end up deleting cuz yikes??? 😬
this is the After trilogy series all over again 💀
The way my name is Zara makes me want to rip out my eyeballs
My comment is very, very long because I had to pause the video many times to express my thoughts and feelings about the book. I just want to note real quick that the timestamps I put are meant to represent exactly WHERE IN THE VIDEO I PAUSED, EXPRESSING MY THOUGHTS ON THE TOPICS/THINGS THAT WERE SAID BEFORE THE PAUSE TIMESTAMPS. Enjoy.
thought(pause) #1: i havent finished the video yet...i have the video paused at 6:24. this sounds like it's a story that was originally published on wattpad, and should have stayed there. but let's continue.
thought(pause) #2: 8:54 yeah this sounds like one of THOSE wattpad fanfics
thought(pause) #3: 10:01 ....i cant
thought(pause) #4: 12:41 ....bro wha- i- no....IN A HUNDERED PAGE STORY????????
thought(pause) #5: 14:29 this sounds like HORRIBLE writing in the sense of storytelling. and from a writing stand point (taking away the context of chan being the idea behind the love interest) it sounds like there is absolutley NO BUILDUP OR PLOT at all. there is no cause and effect, just chronological events happening with no concequence or influence within the later events, conflicts, or solutions. now with the context of chan being the idea of the love interest it's very unnerving, and i havent even personally read the book. it sounds as if the author did think of chan in mind, and then thought about making that writing detail public in order to get publicity for the book. okay continuing the review of what ever this is...
thought(pause) #6: 15:04 im back...only lasting thirty seconds. genuinely...is that considered as sexualizing chan?? as both a stay and purely just as a person, i would NOT want chan to read that because with scenes and content like that about a person, especially with the horrible writing, it's in a way dehumanizing. like the book doesnt even do itself justice. and like a couple of days ago, hannah posted on twitter that she felt left out because no one writes fanfiction about her. it was most likely a joke, but all of the comments and replies were telling her that no, its better that she doesnt; to hurry and delete the tweet; for her to be careful about what she wished for, and everyone was genuinely warning her about her statement BECAUSE OF WRITINGS JUST LIKE THIS. oh my god...
thought(pause) #7: 19:00 because the concert monologue scene is all in english at A KOREAN SHOW goes to point out even more that the author did not put any realistic NOR logical cognitive process into the writing and research of the korean culture. yes, the protaganist is from america, but the story is set in korea, so if you are going to tell the main "plot" within korea dont factor in cliches or concert culture of america. i hope some one understands the point im trying to get across. like just because the protaganist is an english speaker should not be the reasoning of why a whole monologue is expressed in english within a korean concert in korea. it could of actually added some flavor to the book if he said it all in korean without her knowing what he said, only to add some emotion to the scene that would later come if he ended up explaining to her what he said; but thats just the writer in me ranting...
thought(pause) #8: 19:37 .....this makes no logical sense. its obvious the target audience for the book is meant for us older, of-legal-age stans due to the college protaganist and attempt of the 18+ "scene", but us as the assumed target audience get pissed off at how unrealistic the events are. like yes IT IS FANFICTION IT IS NOT TRUE HENCE THE FICTION, but there are no logical events and aftermath of things. i have a really bad headache listening about this book.
thought(pause) #9: 20:20 literally what you said is like my previous thoughts
thought(pause) #10[DAMN]: 21:43 at this point chan's depicted character should have been a solo artist in the book and felix's character be like his trainee best friend or something and not even talk about a group when there is no group discussed at all. i have been watching and typing this comment for over an hour
thought(pause) #11: 22:57 details are meant to have influence and even shifts within the plot at their certain moments to progress the story and character development. the only detail that has some influence is the detail of the protaganist being a nursing major, other than that nothing from what you have pointed out. this is literally a new-writer-just-starting-to-write-on-wattpad fanfic. very poor and sloppy writing.
thought(pause) #12: 25:30 GRAMMATICAL ERRORS?!?!?!?!
There were so many comments talking about how Chan would be honoured to know about it. idk it just fuels the main character syndrome
this was such a fun video, thank u for taking the bullet for us!!!
YES Please do more UA-cam videos if you want to and yeah I would watch them
I love the way u talk! I'm sorry if it's a wierd compliment tho but it's very nice to listen to you
Ok, I write fics myself, and spicy chaps are very common in this „genre“ and idols actually read fanfics or have written fics themselves… but this book right here…
There are so many plotholes (she’s a Muslim but sleeps with a dude she’s known like for what? Two days? Her parents would not leave her travel to Korea, so I believe they would absolutely turn her life into hell for sleeping with a Korean/Non-Muslim/ pre-marriage!!), unnecessary parts/ no impact mentions (as the guy she rescued at the club just to get back to the detail that she’s a nurse/healthcare student), misleading mentions, and many more things that don’t add up in this book 😬
The dialogues are like people talking via Twitter… and so much more… 😬
I’m not a perfect author myself, but at least make it a story that has a main line and side stories evolving around it.
HELP if Chan suddenly apologized on stage I would be like 🧍🏻♀️yeh the next performance pls?

OH MY GOD IT'S BEEN YEARS SINCE I HEARD THE WORD "INFAMY"
This was painful to listen to, I can't even imagine how hard it must have been to read it. A minute of silence for your mental health😞😞😞
I don't have tiktok (or any other social media besides youtube) so i don't know about your content there. But i really liked this video, so if you decide to be more active here, i'm definitely in for it 😊
It sounds like a messy fanfic😭there are a lot of things that are just so wrong in here cus i think u mentioned she’s muslim or from a muslim family if I heard correctly and i donno it seems…disrespectful?? not only that but the storyline itself is just so cliche… this is only my opinion tho no hate to the author whatsoever just wished she could’ve written it better..
listen you can’t tell us that there’s two more books and then not expect me to desire for you to review them too!
There’s actually only one other book. The author decided not to release the third book after seeing my review.
the story is so low quality, even for wattpad standards like... i cant even describe....
I'm not gonna shame the author cause I feel like any of us could come up with a weird story like that... BUT WHO THE F DECIDED TO PUBLISH THAT WTF
I've read better fics than this. idk how to feel about this. definitely a no from me
I was just thinking this. I would say most fanfics are better than this.

First of all i like reading but am not anywhere near giving criticism Idk if anyone said this or not but as a Muslim i can tell she did not do her research AT ALL
Idk what to say, i usually don't comment but i couldn't keep this to myself, all i wanna tell her is if ur not going to do ur research the right way don't write about it and represent our religion the wrong way pls
And this is not only about my religion but it looks like she did 0 research when it cam to it
The love interest is not Chan... he's "Just" the character inspiration.
NO, we all DON’T enjoy reading a fantasy book where we can imagine our own story with our beloved idol.
If you ppl are cringing so much.. don't read the book. Simple.
Not to mention they aren’t even a fan of said idol and are using his life experiences and quotes that aren’t theirs. It’s weird.
Are u okay??🤣🤣🤣🤣 first you say it is about Chan and then go on blasting the author for not clearly telling who the book is about.
this book should have stayed in the depths of hell that is aff/wattpad/ao3.
