23:30 I'm lmao
This is the type of masochism the Internet was made to platform
i gave this book a real chance but it was so slow 🤭. never finished reading it
omg powerless killed me LMAO, im so proud you read so much of it
Finally some good fucking food
Usually I don't like reading vlogs all that much but I had a nice time. I appreciate that you read a good amount before recapping instead of updating every couple of chapters, and also bringing in the direct quotes! Thanks for the video! Shame about the mets
Today is October 31st, 2024. The Yankees have lost the World Series to the LA Dodgers. Absolutely horrible news for the blonde women of the Moonshot universe NYC.
R.I.P blond women of New York. You might be remembered.
I will literally watch anything you post 👁️👁️ just thought I should say that. Back into my hidey hole I go
You kinda look like Jojo from the animated Horton Hears a Who
nichie ur so awesomesauce please don't get crushed by a falling comically large piano
First again 🎉
Paper and pencils being illegal in the book makes total sense to me, you can't write or draw without them and therefore can't create art, music or literature. I assume that the reason for creative expression being banned is that it can lead to deviation from the values "The society" wants people to hold, and also because it can't be regulated. The dream control makes sense as well, I don't think "the society" intends on euthanizing people for a single dream, but a pattern could signal that there might be some sort of "crime of thought" going on, which it is very readable between the lines that it is a thing a person could be punished for. I agree that the writing is terrible, but I don't think the world building is flawed. Actually, I would say that the world building is pretty good, it's just the characters that make this book so terrible. I think the reason why people jump to pointing out plot holes, that are actually non-existent if you think for more than a minute, is because reading comprehension is slowly becoming a dead skill. That along with the fact that we live in a sensationalist culture where we purposefully ignore any semblance of explanation so that mocking something we find cringe will be considered justified. I quite literally saw a comment down here which in short berated the author for the fact that "the book is literally eugenics" as if they lacked the ability to understand that the author portrays it as a bad thing. While the execution sucks, I don't doubt that the author had really great intentions, a nice foundation and passion about the topic since based on the interview it seems to be a thing she would often talk about with her husband, maybe even think about on her own time. There was great potential.
18:23 IM CRYING
I loved this, please i am begging you to read and roast the second book, it's so much Worse
Most annoying thing about dystopian YA books is the plot is just actual oppression or similar to that marginalized people dealt or deal with. American slaves literally got "matched" for the "best" offspring. Idk just in general these always feel like fun, play pretend at oppression for cis white people. Yes, heavily including handmaiden's tale in that group
Quality content, thank you for making. Pls make more if you'd like! :)
the premise reminded me of a webtoon named luff or smthng like that, but uh it's actually good. The goverment of this country has this matching system that pairs people based on percentage of like compatibility or something, I don't remember. So people tend to marry the one who have a higher percentage with, also not a single person had gotten 2 people with the same compatibility percentage... until it happens. The story is really interesting and goood, i recomend :3 (pardon my english)
This is exactly why you shouldn’t use placeholder names in your writing. Name your country!!! OR ELSE YOU SOUND LIKE THIS AND IT NEVER GETS FIXED. you just never decide
the minimum age to even be a ball girl is 18, so she cant even legally be a ball girl. and if the author was aiming for forbidden love, she's the coaches kid so making her a minor was deeply unnecessary
Ur channel is so underrated. Under-hyped ;)
@@TealMirage i see what you did there
i feel like i remember having to read this for battle of the books but the plot is completely unfamiliar to me so i think it’s just one of the rest in the hordes of dystopian books of questionable quality i had to read
*removes the name Ky from my book in writing*
this would be a better book if Maya realized that Noah wasn't her type, fell in love with one of the mechanics, and went home with a sweet buff man who picks her up in like a bugatti idk about cars. and maybe Noah & Santiago do an enemies to friendly rivals to lovers thing in the background if you want some flavor
disliking all sports except baseball is so real like i don't give a shit about fucking steph curry but take me to a giants-dodgers game and i will scream myself hoarse chanting BEAT LA! (i'll confess i was raised as a college football fan and i can get into a football game but one or two bowl games every new year's is about as long as i can ignore the brain damage aspect)
update a little further into the video: the name "kai rhodes" set off my pun name detector but then i realized nobody on the planet would consider that a pun name except people who care about very old bibles (historical manuscripts like the book of kells or the lindesfaerne gospels would have a "chi-rho page" which would consist of only the greek letters chi and rho, the first letters of "christ," but big and heavily, heavily decorated with like knotwork and illustrations) (also for the record i care about old bibles for calligraphy reasons not religious ones)
another update: miller montgomery? i've heard of people with two first names (eg benjamin franklin, chris paul) but that's just two last names damn
update 3: i've seen brawls in baseball games before although it's been a while. usually it happens if a pitcher hits a batter seemingly on purpose. i think if they were actually throwing punches they'd probably get ejected from the game but nothing more than that unless it was like really bad
Omg a fellow Stay!!
As an Asexual, the amount of these 'spicy' romance books that are being released these days is SO heartbreaking. I miss the days where romances were actually sweet. The number of them I have read that are all Spicy ;) is ridiculous. But unfortunately, these things sell. Booktok is great in some ways and if you look in the right places, you can get some great recommendations, but you have to filter through all the Spice ;) first. I wish it was easier to find some romance with no spice like there used to be 10 years ago...
SAMEEE. Like jeez, just let me read a fluffy romance with no sex in it...
i only like fake dating where they dont actually end up together and just stay friends (like in spaced (1999))
omg i read this in 7th grade and i think i read the sequel as well.. unsure if i ever finished the trilogy bc i was out of middle school when the third one was released. literally the only thing i remember is the guy’s name being ky
Beartown is legitimately one of the best books I've ever read. When I taught high school, I taught Beartown to one a class of sophomores one year and it was one of the best teaching experiences of my life.
“the Caribbean Ocean” … as a Caribbean I’m offended. As a human with geography knowledge I’m dead
No bc I, also as an avid Hunger Games fan, bought this book at a thrift store when I was in eight grade and it pissed me off so consistently that I threw it at a wall several times while reading it. You're a different kind of brave to read it a second time.
im sorry idc if the person you're writing about is literally a fictionalised depiction of your fated mate who the fuck wants to read SIX HUNDRED pages of a romance????????????
I was eating mac and cheese when you said "Dared to ask what if Walt Disney was hot" and about died choking on it laughing 💀 Subscribed
i tried to read this book series so many times but i couldn’t get passed the first book
Isn't that illegal? People are getting prosecuted just by selling for example Nike's shirts and we all know they're not associated with them
istg i can remember a fanfiction of i think harry styles of the same name. that I may or may not have read.
I’m a super casual f1 fan and even I could see the issues with this book 😭
trust me, it got worse :(. also recommendation for ur next read is requiem or delirium or whatever the first one’s name was
Like I get why we have to see the love interest as attractive because it's a romance book, but I think where it FAILS is that we have to be TOLD that they're attractive. We just have the main characters going on an infodump about the other person's muscles or eyes or whatever. Are we shown how other people react to them? Are we shown about how they carry themselves? And its IMMEDIATE TOO LOL. I hate instant attraction, why don't they ever build it up? Or maybe if someone was instantly attracted why is it so IN YOUR FACE LMAO...I can't explain it, but there's subtle and better ways to communicate that someone is attractive
fr like sometimes you see someone and you think they're extremely appealing in various ways, but it doesn't affect you that bad because that's simply not how people react to anything Ever. also, idk if it's just me but I wouldn't be able to notice so many physical features without staring lmao
13:52 that hurt to listen to
As a f1 fan its also extremely innacurate😭
Anyone know what car Ms. Asher used for the cover? Looks to me like the F150 Italia with all the sponsors airbrushed off for copyright dodging
There is no way the plot of this book, as you just described it, justfies 600 pages. It just doesnt.
I’ve read 3 of the books in the series (1st, 4th and then DNF’d the 2nd) because I’m a sucker for punishment. I will admit I enjoyed the 4th one the most, the dynamic was much better and very sweet lol
