    Hey everyone. Ryan here, at etrailer.com. This is what our airbags are going to look like installed under our Express van. Now these are really gonna help with these Express vans because many times they're weighed down. Either by a lot of passengers, or they're being used as a work van, which means that you're gonna be towing trailers or carrying heavy equipment.The way these are gonna work, is they're gonna sit in between our axle tube and our frame. Now when we put air in them, they're actually gonna help dampen some of that weight and relieve some of that strain and stress off of our factory suspension components.The bags are going to have a 5,000 pound load leveling capacity.
    Now keep in mind, these are just going to aid your factory suspension. You're not actually going to gain more weight capacity by adding these. It's always a good idea to check with your vehicle's owner's manual to see what your weight capacity is.Each bag has an adjustable air pressure of five to 100 psi. That way, you can fine tune your suspension. Now the bags will require a little bit of maintenance.
    Since they do require at least five psi in each bag, you'll have to check it occasionally 'cause you'll have some temperature fluctuations and that can cause your bag to either gain some pressure or lose a little bit of pressure. However, there is a solution to that. And there is a compressor available on etrailer.com, and that'll let you either inflate or deflate the bags and adjust them from the driver's seat.Now one thing I'd like to point out, when your vehicle's unloaded the ride can be a little more firm. But when it is loaded with heavy things, the payoff is well worth it.Now we'll take our bags out on our test course. On the first part of our test course, we'll be doing some evasive maneuvering, doing some quick turns side to side.
    You'll notice how unstable and unsettled the suspension is without the airbags installed. With them installed, you'll notice how much more settled and more control that we have over our vehicle. There's a significant amount less body roll than what we had without them.On the next part of our test course, we'll be going over some bumps. You'll notice without the airbags installed how much suspension travel we don't have. The suspension can't do its job properly because it's sagging down and doesn't have the amount of travel that it needs in order to help absorb the bumps.
    With the airbags installed, you can see how much less jouncing and jarring there is going on. That's because the suspension is able to do its job properly with having the weight being supported by the airbags. This will give us much more handling and braking ability with the airbags installed, giving us the safety that we need when we're towing a heavy load, or have a lot of weight in the back of our vehicle.I'm gonna give you a few measurements while our van has factory suspension and no airbags installed. Now keep in mind too, this is while the van is unloaded, so we don't have any weight in the back of it. Here at the rear, from the ground to the edge of the wheel well we're right at about 36 3/4". Here in the front, we're right at about 35".Now I went ahead and added a significant amount of weight inside of the back of our van. Now I'll go ahead and take the measurements and see what the difference is. We're right at about 35". So that means with all the weight in the back, it actually dropped down about 1 3/4". Here in the front we're sitting right about 36". So the front actually rose about an 1". What that's going to mean, is with all this weight in the back, the front of our van is actually gonna be riding like this.Now what that's gonna do is cause our tire not to have as much of a contact pattern on the ground as it normally would. That's not only going to affect our steering, but it's also going to affect our braking. It's actually going to shine our headlights up in the air and not on the ground where we need them to be. And that can also shine into other motorists' windshields, affecting their vision too. It's also going to wear out our suspension components a little bit faster, as well as cause premature wear for our tires.With our airbags installed and our weight in the back of the van, we'll see what our measurement is in the rear. From the ground to the wheel well, about 36 3/4". So pretty much the exact same as our stock ride height, with no weight in the back. See what we are here at the front. We're actually right at 35", so that's exactly the same as it was stock, with no weight in the back.Now because we have our airbags installed,

    Thanks very much. But I do have a question concerning my 04 Chevy express, but it is a school bus. I took the bus on it’s first trip and I definitely had the problems you were talking about as in the Bus having too much weight in the back and the front not having enough contact with the road.will this set up still work for that application. I Would send you a picture but I haven’t figured out how to do that yet but it is a small five window mini School Bus thanks in advance

      These air bags should just want you need. They will raise the back end of the vehicle back to factory ride height, resulting in your front end being better planted on the ground. The other added benefit of air bags is that they will reduce the amount of body roll that the vehicle has, making it much more comfortable for your passengers.

    Thanks .But one mistake - lower bracket template supposed to attached by other holes. Look instruction.

      You want to be sure that you are looking at the inboard and outboard labels on the instruction photos. They will show the air helper springs installed as the installer did in the video.

      @@etrailer I think mentment1 is correct. The instructions for the lower bracket say "use holes marked "A" for mounting" (the "a" holes are the square carriage bolt holes). In your video, you used the holes marked "c" (The "c" holes are the rectangular carriage bolt holes). Other than that, Great video and very helpful.

    What psi is best for smoothest ride in the van for passengers?

    • @etrailer
      @etrailer  2 роки тому

      The psi that will be most comfortable will depend on what your total weight will end up being. You will want to add and subtract air till you get to a comfortable ride.

    Bull. Unless the airbags are mounted behind the rear axle, they will not pitch the front of the vehicle back down. If you lifted the rear axle with bags it will only lift the rear. Where is the front lifting force coming from? Think of a seesaw, if we we put a floor jack under the trailer hitch and lifted there, then the rear would be lifted and the front lowered. Airbags centered on the rear axle will only lift the rear. Yes the vehicle can be returned to level, but the reduced weight on the front tires would remain the same.

    I highly recommend you DO NOT ORDER FROM ETRAILER..they said this part fit our service truck and didn't end up fitting..they wouldn't refund us the cost because was 60 warranty..obviously I wouldn't have bought it if it didn't fit..even last order I got from them didn't show up and had to call them to see why and they had no clue it happened and had to resend a stock item..ill never use ETRAILER AGAIN
