I love your videos Susan! I bought the longarmer’s tape measure right after I bought my longarm but wasn’t real sure how to use it. You demonstrated using it quite a while back and it clicked for me. I use it every quilt now. Just picked up another great tip from this video! Painters tape to mark my boundaries of how far I can quilt without bumping the bars. Perfect! I learn new things with every video! Thank you!
When basting the sides, I just read somewhere to always stitch front to back? I just saw you do that too! Reading that & the explanation, was an aha moment!
I tend to do one side down and one side up😄 I think the goal is simply to keep it smooth, and my way of putting tension on the fabric accomplishes that….so whatever way works!
I am in awe of how you can decide which direction to go. Thank you so much for sharing. I’ve learnt so much. The backing from your client was the pieces overlooked or just sewn with 1/2” seams and pressed open. Which would you prefer.
The backing blocks were all the same size, so while scrappy, I think they were cut purposely. They were pieced with ordinary 1/4” seams, and I definitely prefer them pressed open for the backing as it lays flatter.
Hi Susan, do you have any kind of practice sheet to print out for this block pattern. I know it’s freehand, but how do you actually get started. Love watching you but I’m always at work when your live. But that’s ok. Have a great week
No, sorry, I don’t. I just start off from the edge, and begin to form boxes. It’s really easy to overlap lines and add more, so I just start making boxes and then keep filling in till I’ll happy with the look of it.
Great design.♥️🇦🇺
Good morning from north Texas!! Happy stitching!!
IL Mary I am learning so much. Thank you

You’re so welcome! Painters tape is my favorite thing😄
Catching the replay! Chilling on deck at cottage - forgot what day it was! Oh my!
I use a wrapping paper roll instead of a yardstick. It was handy and it worked, so I still use it.
So helpful to see this in action on a full quilt. Great addition to you Freehand master class! Thank you
Please I’d love to see the veggie cans. I’m late to the show, but enjoying answering still.
I’m certain another quilt will come up where I use the cans😄 I’ll try to do it soon.
I was at work, but catching up with the replay today!..

I like the rounded corners, I try to do type of design, but always tried to do square corners. Seems like rounded corners would be more comfortable
I definitely find it easier to sew.
I give my clients a tip, if there is no continuous border, sew a 1/8” stay stitch, as well.
It really helps, doesn’t it?

Please tell me about all those ribbons hanging behind you
