@@DSPHistoricalSociety So for me, I had a bad home life at the time. I went through abuse at home, then being ignored, so I really wasn't receiving love. I had access to internet and my brother was on a place called MeetMe. So I got on there. Attention towards me felt like love. The conversations weren't overtly creepy for the longest time. Seeing the conversation at first, might not appear as anything overt. But as time went on, they progressively got more perverse. But because I had never been in a relationship at such a young age obvs, I didn't have a good model of relationships or love, it felt like love to me. Am I ashamed that they got to me like that? Yes. But I was a child. This is why adults should not be inappropriate with minors. Even if you'd had to grow up fast, you're still too young, inexperienced, less mature, etc. to engage in sexual activities. I'm not the same person I was at 18, I'm 23 now. And most of it stopped when I was 17 because my home life got a little better and I was spending more time on extracurricular activities to fancy dudes or anything. And no, I didn't lie about my age. Teens were allowed on the site. Same as adults. They knew my age and didn't care. No one knew about this happening. I never got in trouble so no one knew I snuck out at night. I was reckless and impulsive because I was young and mentally fucked up. None of my friends knew about it either. But I'm an adult now, I see the signs and I have tried to come to peace with my trauma the best I can. While I shouldn't have gone through the things I've gone through, I've learned a lot from it.
I recently found a conversation my old neighbor and I had. I was just freshly 18 when he randomly added me. He knew me since I was a toddler bc he was our neighbor. He wasn't doing good bc he was an addict unfortunately. But anyways. Conversation started out with "hey, do you remember me? I was your neighbor yada yada" "Yes" and then "do you ever miss me?" "When I think about __ city, I do think of you." "Well I miss and think about you all the time." Might seem innocent, might seem harmless but it isn't. We weren't that close to illicit that in the first place. But it's often a way to love bomb someone they want to groom. Talked about how I was on Christmas break and how I was feeling under the weather. Then he wanted me to talk on the phone. Then he wanted to take me to see the Christmas lights....at midnight. I stopped replying to him. Fast forward 2 years, I'm a server. He comes in. Not until there was eye contact did I recognize him. Instead of going with the hostess, he requested me specifically. He then flirts with me overtly the whole time. St the end, he leveraged a tip for getting my number. I didn't get the tip bc I wasn't giving it to him. He's known me since I was a toddler, he acts weird once I am freshly 18, then flirts and fails his plan to get me my number (he thought I would bc he thought I'd be desperate for the tip) had he done any of this when I was 13-16yo it could have ended up with him taking advantage of me. The "normal" conversation thing is so typical, love bombing is so typical, the savior act is so typical, etc. It's something that has repeatedly happened before I was taken advantage of.
The thing is, anyone and everyone can be manipulated, abused, and taken advantage of. Maybe you've been lucky to not be a target, but don't think for a second you aren't capable of being a victim. At any moment, you can be regardless if you were thinking straight or had a lapse on judgement. People idolize politicians all the time, listen to marketing ads, experience break ups and divorces, in cults, in pyramid schemes or Ponzi schemes, etc. People's love ones get kidnapped, people become hostages, people experience black mail, etc. Anything could happen at any time to anyone. Keeping up on how many ways people can be manipulated, the red flags, how to handle these situations, etc. Is beneficial to everyone.

This reminds of when I was 16 and an older music teacher close to retirement seemed to take an interest in me, I had a difficult home life and too introverted to make many friends and I thought of him as a father figure and when he wanted me to stay behind after class to talk I never expected him to try to assault me, I was 16 so I just pushed him off and never mentioned it to anyone but it was just another one of these painful experiences that taught me to never trust a man. Back then it was such a painful shock to me that someone that could be my grandfather thought of me in that way, why are so many men so creepy?

Most aren't but the one's who are are pathological and so they tend to get around and deliberately put themselves in positions to act out their impulses.
Same with a lot of stuff, decent sorts don't put themselves out much but the scum tend to try it on with everyone systematically in the hope of getting lucky. You can have 1000 guys at a university and 50 of the guys will manage to harass every single girl within a few months, while a good portion of the guys will basically disappear into the background as they either have no interest in students outside of their friend group or they judged their chance of reciprocation to be basically zero and didn't bother with putting emotional effort into failure. The reason the people who go around do so is that they don't really have genuine feeling and are just trying it on, and yeah you get women like that as well, and while the physical aspect is less a concern you don't want to be left in a room with one as they are the sort to use lies and blackmail rather than force or intimidation.
Unfortunately such people can live quite easy lives despite their behaviour in a society with low expectations on morals and personal conduct. It is I think also the case that things have got worse though I don't think we've been in a good situation for quite some time. Absolving people of responsibility for their own actions (notably the joke that is claiming that they must just not have understood the concept of consent) does not help and only serves as a cover for malicious and\or cynical actors. The fact is that there are more than enough evil people to go round by far; and evil isn't created, it's chosen.

The numbers of male SO's, specifically against minors, is both remarkable and terrifying. And their predatory offenses against both men and women (women of course being more primarily) is a whole other incredibly high and frightening number.
Side note: yes, there are female offenders. No one is disputing that. Sadly this disclaimer needs to be added, bc more often than not, just the mere mention of this easily verifiable fact surrounding the top charting number of male SO's oddly sets folks off. Which only serves to simultaneously enable, perpetuate, and minimize this centuries long problem.

In all seriousness, he deserves to be caught and dragged through the mud. And when they do like in the case of teachers that's the only reason it gets talked about and she'd light on. Not to mention the light sentences the women get because society can't stop seeing women as delicate little things even if it's for something horrendous. They're a woman so there must be a reason but a man, is just being a man. And I'm saying this as a woman who was prayed upon by many a men but who's also met many a good men, and has raised a son that I wouldnt want the world seeing him as a predator just for existing while also dismissing his pain.

She sounded like an adult trying to sound young. I heard her maturity on many occasions not to mention, young girls don’t have fairy high voices like that

Case Suggestion: I was the foreman on the Hazel Holman case out of washington state, and have only seen her covered on 1 podcast, the family is very vocal about the cps fucksups and reform, as well as guardian ad litem reform; hazel was murdered through ongoing child abuse by her step mom Kamee Dixon, who we convicted, but i think there was alot we didnt find out and i'd love to see your channel cover this case and what we didn't see.
