  • Learning to become self sustainable requires many skills. One of those skills being how to grow your own food. This is our second year planting a garden on our land with high hopes of yielding enough food to help sustain ourselves through a good portion of the year. Since we live off grid and are beginners in the garden, the process of stewarding the land takes a bit more effort without the endless resources normally had when living on grid. With last year's drought, we wanted to take extra precautions and ensure we harvest enough rainwater. Along with our garden our neighbors and off grid community members Dan & Kym have been planting their gardens which at the end of the season we hope to put our harvest together. Follow our homesteading journey, Learn or lend your experience and knowledge and become a part of the community Off Grid & Growing

    We keep pushing forward and with every failure, we learn a better way how to homestead. Living off the land is not something we ever thought was possible in today's society but with determination to escape the rat race, we inch our way to a happier, healthier existence not only in harmony with our own bodies but in oneness with nature all around us.

    Start using your coffee grounds to help with the moles. Coffee grounds and tea are great for gardening. But moles DO NOT like the smell of coffee. So after making your coffee start dumping the grounds in the holes left by the moles.

    Love gardening! Your garden is beautiful and love the lay-out. You both did such a beautiful job. I saw you planting seed potatoes, you can cut those in half as long as you have an eye on it, you can plant it. Save your egg shells and crush them. Sprink around your tomatoe, peppers, zucchini, and cucumbers to help with blossom rot. Save banana peels ( if you have them) and soak in water for aweek. Pour on the rootsof your tomato plants for a energy boost. Start saving jars and lids now so you have plenty of them for storage. You can store so much like sundried tomatoes. Cant wait to see your harvest!

    You get chickens make sure you put them in a run don't let them free range like people tell you to cause my whole yard is now dirt and mud took six chickens five months to clear my whole property at a grass now it's just all mud and dirt

    • @OffGridGrowing
      @OffGridGrowing  Рік тому +1

      Yea I'd be building a chicken tractor because I heard the same thing..

    • @NORMANMORRISON1940
      @NORMANMORRISON1940 Рік тому +1

      Yeah I listen to youtube people saying free range of chickens and then put hay all over your ground to help get lice fertilized ground but that was yard was gross that winter 2 inches of water cause the water wouldn't run off cause he was there and there was no grass anymore cause the chickens ate it all scratched it all up so it was 2 inches of mud@@OffGridGrowing

    Lovely garden design! And a lovely couple too..just please don't show your lady friend gardening in her underwear! That wasn't a pretty sight..and there was no need for it..before filming she should've put a trousers on.
