    Ron, You are the Man. I plan to replace my rub rail on my 19 year old Ski Sanger V210. But I plan to install some LED lights before I Install the Insert. Do you sell the clear Insert that I can use. Since I see you use a dead blow hammer. I may have to install the Led light strip Underneath the Rub Rail as another option.

    Would it be better to start at the bow

      Rubrail comes in coils, these are 50' coils, they can be a bit challenging to work with, you need to start at one end, wherever your joint will be and work around till you get to the end then trim the excess length. Starting in the middle (bow) would be much more difficult.

    I was always told never caulk underneath rub rail after installation. Its ok to caulk here and there to cover the bigger gaps. But by caulking all underneath the water that gets in from the top has no where to go and just sits in and behind the rail. So no good. Just caulk the seam before

      Better boat builders use the "double caulk" method, any water that makes it through the first caulk joint will drain back to the rear-center cap and drain out. Single caulk that is hidden under the rubrail is not seen and boat builder can apply this quick & dirty and save the $$ by not applying the second caulk joint which must be done cleanly (more labor)

      @@rontanis1024 I understand what your saying. But what I'm saying is after installation if you caulk the seam under the rub rail to the boat..when water gets in from the top the water cannot drain out from the bottom because it is caulked. Just want to know your opinion on that

      @@jheiny1231 With the rub-rail style we use like many other ski boat builders, any water that can get into the hollow inner portion of the rail will make it's way to the back where the trim cap is & will drain out there.

      @@rontanis1024 that is if the boat is moving . Or angled high enough while sitting on the trailer. So water will sit inside and behind the rail like I was told. Good to kno

      @@jheiny1231 I can tell you this, I have removed 100's of rub-rails from ski boats & have never seen water drain out when I removed them. If is was an issue there would be a lot of freeze damaged decks out there.
