I have had great luck when I polish and drop off a fuel door from a vehicle for a match. Then I open the can at the store, dip a stir stick in it and go outside to compare the 2. Thanks for all the tips and tricks on this channel 🤙
HEY TRIGGERMAN, TRIGGERMAN, TRIGGERMAN, I wanna know, boy oh boy I tell yah TRIGGER?If l buy Napa paint does it gives me a knappy-head paint job, huh, boy I telly these nappa guys😂😂😂😂😂❤❤
Hey trigger, I myself paint out of a warehouse and I don’t have a paint room. What I have done over time is accumulate different colors suck as yellows, blacks, reds, course metallics, fine metallics and pigment like that and I always use these to get the paint I get from the paint store to match almost as perfect as I can and in order to make it works out I always blend the adjacent panels to insure a “perfect" job. At least that’s what works best for me. Excited to see what other suggestions followers have to make things easier. ✌🏽 paint on brother 💪🏽
I've only done a couple of blends, but you're spot on about variants. I've even had different techs at the same shop mix the same variant off just enough for the tone to be slightly different. I plan to hopefully take on some side jobs soon for full resprays, but most definitely will check the comments for tips in case I'm forced to do blends .. Good info, Trig!
Nice one trigger, its an interesting topic to talk about the paint variation. Some paint code will have too many variations. Ive seen some older painters used to get some toners colors from paint shop like yellow, red oxide, blue and green. Whenever the paint not matched and they will start tinting it. Like add a little yellow to make it yellower, add green to kill the reddish and etc. its just something that need time to learn and it really makes life easier.
Brilliant and extremely useful info. I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge. In years past, I experienced the exact problems you address here. Thanks again, you earned a Sub.
Thank you sir glad the video helped. Be sure to check out my main channel " The Triggerman" where get much more in depth into automotive refinishing. Thanks again and welcome to the channel 💪🏼🤙🏼
That's a great idea on getting prime and another variant yes talk to your paint store guy you get good with someone there I've always bring in a gas door or something so they can match it,also do a spray out card first then can judge how close it is Great video triggerman
Thank you John glad you enjoyed man. Yes it seems like nowadays the guys at the paint store are a lot more helpful these days, if you would walk in there back in my day and tell him to match something up they will look at you like your crazy 😂
WHAT'S UP TRIGGERMAN, another good video, I like how you experiment with the materials, speaking of that, before I heard about the porphis guns,I experimented with aeropro, I purchased 2.5 rongpeng cap, needle and Nozzle, paid$80 for a split nozzle, put it on the A610/yt160❤
If I have a paint that’s slightly off I adjust my psi to change the shade of the color. If I bump up the psi the color gets lighter if I lower my psi the color gets darker. I’ll use a spray out card and tape into sections and spray those sections according to the psi settings. I adjust by 3 psi either up or down and see which gets me close to a blend able match
Man 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I had that same mistake not too long ago with that maximum one way I ended up getting it to work is trial and error on mixing some paint I already had painters will always have left over paint from other projects I’ve got close with that method and to blend it in I use my speedokote blend 👌🏾
Oh yeah I remember, I saw that video. Like a reddish orange Nissan. Yeah man this method sure would have helped for that. Those colors are always tricky
High speed on the highway would normally cause that 😂😬 sometimes a sealer could help. Or even a light coat of adhesion promoter. But that's a tough call. I don't get much of that and I don't seal or add adhesion promoter so I'm not sure, maybe quality of the paint base or clear.
@@PaintsByTrigger Opel Z20R, it’s black but it can pull to the blue, purple, red, green, yellow, and for example blue shade have 6 cards. Not sure if you have that color under GM badge in US. Had one in the shop that had 2 panels in same color, spent about 7 hours with paint guy so we can mix something that can blend in the panels that I need to do so it doesn’t look ugly, we started with 18 white cards with different variances from BASF, we were blinded after 7 hours of looking in white paint.
Trigger I do have a good paint supplier however I am a mechanic by trade I'm new to auto body game I spray out of my garage a little more harsh environment then where you are spraying at but a little cutting and buffing may help love the videos love the tips keep up the good work.
Yes a mechanics environment is more harsh than a dedicated paint area, it's actually completely opposite with all of the oils, lubricants, silicones so if you're pulling that off and getting decent jobs that's awesome. And if a cut n buff is the worst of it then Spray on brother spray on 🤙🏼🤙🏼 thank you for watching 😎
