really like the fact so many of you creative/inventive people help the rest of us out with your DIY builds. Thanks for this video. Very informative without becoming long winded or boring like some tend to do. you showed enough work and explained enough to make this a very helpful and great video. also, great build. :) Thank you.
Well, you just saved me around 100 to 200 dollars, had a friend that had some fan, motor, and squirrel cages for free, thank you very much. Great video and instructions.
I was building one out of a regular fan, but thanks for reminding me that I had a much better fan collecting (lots) of dust in the attic. Works like a charm!
Ron, I liked this video. I gave up searching for part 2 of this. Please separate your videos using playlist. Also if you have a part 2, 3, 4 etc add a link in the description to the next video. Regards

This video is a godsend, thank you! I've been given two home-use furnace/fireplace fans, one around 500 m3/h and the other 100 less, which is more than enough. My question is whether you'd recommend a setup like yours for a spray painting booth? I would be using both water- and reducer-soluble paints. They're both IP54 secure.
This was a great build Ron. I see you did this several years ago but I just now came across it searching for workshop air cleaner ideas. Keep up the great content! This is an excellent idea to reutilize a furnace fan. You've got me thinking! Thanks for taking the time to document and share.
For just dust; I'd use those washable filters sold for people with allergies for heating and air conditioning. They sell them now at most home centers. In a enclosed shop where wood work is done filters will need replacing a lot and can get expensive for any that are really effective .Cheap home heating/ cooling will clog quickly not be as effective; IMO.
......tip for ya.....you have to restrict the air going into the fan. All hvac fans must have a load on them. Don't ask me why but the moter will run HOT and burn out. Hvac service tech. ,,,,,,,duct tape or metal tape should restrict about 50 percent of the opening when used in this manner.
Love the design! Great looking shop! Hope when I retire I can have a shop like yours, that would be a good retirement for me... And a RV of course.... 15 years more to go! ( I'm lucky enough to retire at 48 ;)
Enjoying your videos and especially this air cleaner, which I would like to do to a HEPA 0.3 micron rating to match my dust extraction. But I must say, you gave me the shivers twice when you placed fingers on wood just behind the table saw blade. PLEASE DON’T DO THAT 😅 it is very unsafe. Am I right or am I right? Again - great videos!

Use a Cheaper Filter to catch bigger stuff and the expensive ones to catch smaller Particles. Change the Cheaper Ones often to SAVE $$$ on the expensive Filter :D
Excellent video Ron. Your voice is great and your method of explaining what you are doing makes listening a pleasure. Thanks.

Great idea!!!! I also like your miter saw station a lot. I'd like to see how it was built.
Re: "I'd like to see how it was built" Sorry, no video on that one as far as I can remember anyway.
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
This is a great build. I have a similar blower motor sitting in my shop. I will follow your guidelines to build mine. Thank you
Great idea but I highly recommend a Kreg jig in place of biscuits. Thanks for posting .
As an added bonus with pocket holes, you don't have to wait 17 hours for the glue to set up.

I think the filters will always be a bit under size, they are made to fit a 20 x 25 (or whatever) slot.

Every auto body shop will have a spray paint booth. Check with them. They will be better to answer that question better than I can :)

I wonder how we got the the same name approved. Good thing the photo is different, lol. Thanks for commenting. 👍
Love your video's!
Glad you like them Jesse! 👍

Thanks for that tip David :)
U did a great job! Can u make one for me plz?

Thanks for that "tip" :)
I haven't really seen anyone use biscuits since watching norm on the new Yankee workshop.
Re: "The New Yankee Workshop" Best woodworking show ever on TV 👍
@@roncalverley yes it was. I grew up watching the new Yankee workshop and this old house.
Whats the difference between a shop air filter and a shop sawdust collector?
Shop air cleaner rikontools.com/product-category/air-filters/
Shop sawdust collector rikontools.com/product-category/dust-collectors/
Great build Ron. How do you hold your filters in place?
A combination of friction-fit and push pins. Nothing hi-tech LOL :)
Vinyl siding J strips work great.
any chance you could add the wiring diagram you used for the various speeds and the switches you used?
Sorry Brad. Can't recall it. Think I got it off the Internet. Good luck. 🤞👍
Great!! What is the blower Flow Rate (CFM) that you used? and what is the speed?
I think that it is 1/2 hp motor. That's all I can recall about it.
What was the width and thickness of your wood frame slats?
Looks like 2by4 to me
?
Can u tell abt blower specifications
Sorry but no. It is simply a furnace fan/blower

How do you like the Sanborn air compressor?
Hi Jeff,
I like it! No problems. Reasonably priced for what you get too. Thanks for watching :)
Biscuit joins are fancy for me Jeje I would had done pocket holes...
Yup! Could have saved myself time that's for sure. Thanks for commenting :)

Hi I'm making a box fan dust filter and wondering is it alright to use paint filter instead of furnace filter?
A paint booth filter should be okay, but aren't they a lot more expensive?
@@roncalverleyI'm from Malaysia hence we don't sell furnace filter and paint filter is easily available and cheap. Thanks for the reply.
Re: "I'm from Malaysia"
I will be thinking of you nice and warm down there in Malaysia while soon I'm freezing up here in Winnipeg. 😁
@@roncalverley I feel ya, cause I been to Calgary during the winter months and is freaking coold.

You are right Gary! It gave you shivers twice! 😁
