Great show! I've owned a FTDX-10 since March. The more you use it the more ways it can improve your enjoyment of this hobby. As to the buttons around the VFO, it took maybe three weeks of use and I was fully adapted to the closeness. Too, the latest firmware update smoothed other "rough" edges. A great rig. AA7MO
Great Show!!!! Finally caught up today. Amazing information and the most comprehensive review I have ever watched. Details and logistical sequence. LOVED IT!!!! Louis KK7AAG
Louis thank you so much. It means a lot to me. Doing “live shows“ has its own set of challenges. There will certainly be mistakes made… Because there’s not any editing involved. But you’ll always get my heart in it and all of you that come to watch it are such a big part of the shows that really you’re the “stars” not me.
I am guessing you are using a capture card and feeding the output of the DVI from the radio thru it and then into the capture card of which you are using software to utilize it in the stream. What HW/SW are you using to do this?
Kevin, I’m using a “Mirabox HD” capture card. I connect the DVI-D out of the 7610 or other radio that has it and directly into the capture card. From there, the computer recognizes the source and I can pull it up to the stream. You most likely already have the right cable. If you don’t, you’ll need a DVI-D to HDMI cable, the capture card aunt an audio video software production to play it on UA-cam. Most people use OBS for this. Thanks for writing me, hope to see you on a live show soon to say hello. Larry
@@HamRadioLiveShow Doug N4HNH has a different take, and I tend to agree with him. He thinks the Yaesu engineers intended for users to see all the nuances of speech in the spectrum, and left out averaging on purpose. He claims this shows more detail. The waterfall can of course be slowed, but averaging "blurs" the visual information. For those who don't like all the activity on the screen, reducing the "grass" as much as possible so only the signals create peaks results in a less busy display. That said, for a transceiver that offers so many user choices, why couldn't they have added adjustable averaging? Choice is good 😄
Jim, I covered what was in the title. We all work our radios differently. The difference is that I put it on a UA-cam channel live. If you watched the video, I also covered the forecast. I checked 40 before the show and it was dead. I went with the band that had activity. I’ve interviewed Rob and know it’s #3. It doesn’t mean it’s “better” however than other transceivers for the majority of hams. It only means it scored high on his tests. Have a great day! Larry
@@HamRadioLiveShow No Problem.... I like your shows and even at my age I usually either learn a new trick, or get reminded of one that I sorta have forgotten from them. Although I kept saying "TRY 40 !" LOL And I operate my FT-950 the same way as you did the DX-10. Also I use a Timewave DSP-59+ with my R-390A ( referring to your "Hello Old Friend!" episode. I agree the DSP-59+ is a hidden gem.
Thanks Jim, If I ever think I’m going to do anything with the radio for the show I always try to check the bands first. So much goes into this. I think the last time I calculated things it was about 90 minutes of work for about 40 minutes of content. Thank you sincerely for your kind words. It’s really nice to hear from you again. I hope you and yours have a very merry Christmas. Larry

YAESU rigs need spectrum scope averaging !
AGREED! I can’t figure out why their “engineers“ couldn’t figure that part out.

Should have tried 40 after you discovered that 20 was mostly dead. Rob Sherwood lists the DX10 as #3 in his list as of 12/13/21.
