actually, the lead singer final note is legit, it isnt enhanced, and is listed in the guiness book of world records for longest held note in a pop song.
Donna Summer's long note in Dim All The Lights also holds the longest duration as well...
Facts. He broke Donna’s record by a few seconds
Exactly what I was about to say only you beat me to it. And your comment was at the top.
that's true
The singer from A-ha holds that record now, from the song Summer moved on.
That final note was straight legit!!! It lasted actually that long!! Back then people could actually sing
You're absolutely right! Freddy said on that version, he didn't know when it would end, so he just held the note. The interview is on back to the vinyl series.
I once read that the lead singer was watching for the producer to give him a signal to end the last note but the producer got caught up in the beauty of the song and forgot.
@@terrygause29653 that's a stretch. To sing a note that long requires timing to set up your breathing. Breath control takes a lot of practice. So highly think that is just a story.
@@cameranmanner4701, does it really? Wow! You’re so smart. You think it’s possible that he prepared for a long-held final note, but didn’t realize it would be quite that long?
Either way, take it up with Freddy. He said it; not me.

I agree not much now is music. It's loud cussing and makes no sense really.
I'm a 80's teenager in those good old days. The best hit song ever! The singer's voice is golden and powerful. 😊🇨🇦👍
Sheriff is a Canadian band and the lead singer actually held that note and got The Guinness World Record for the longest held note.
Ahh, Sheriff...1982, my junior year of high school. Thanks for bringing it back for a reaction. Incredible voice, as emphasized by other comments.
Was that St. Basils? My wife went to school with the singer Freddy.
I heard this song when I was a teenager and fell in love with this man's voice. So good hearing it again. That last note OMG!
The singer held the note. He was in the Guinness Book of Workf Records for longest recorded note held. He had to hold it longer in concert to give the same effect.
Truth. He held the record for 11 years until the singer from A-Ha broke it in 2000 in the song "Summer Moved On".
One of the longest held notes ever recorded.
The lead singer of Sheriff was also the lead singer of a band called Alias. They had a huge hit with the song, "More than Words Can Say (I Need you Now) Ty, it would truly mean the world to me if you could do a reaction video to that Alias song. It was my brothers favorite song in the world and I miss him so much. The 29th of December was the 20th anniversary of his death. Two months later I was almost killed when I was hit by a car while crossing the road on my way to work. I suffered two broken legs, I broke my lower back, and fractured my right shoulder. Our mama said Tommy died to be my angel who saved my life. I lost my mama 2/6/2017 and daddy passed 1/17/18. So I am here all alone. I think of them any time I hear that song and it always leaves me in tears wishing how much I could tell them I still need them. I know you're awful busy and get a zillion requests so I understand if you can't. Take care and God Bless
Yep, then they formed Frozen Ghost. So much talent.
So sorry for your loss. Stay strong in the knowledge that they are always with you.
@@wolf762x51 2 members of Sheriff formed Frozen Ghosst (keyboard player Arnold Lanni & bass player Wolf Hassel)... singer Fred Curci & guitarist Steve DeMarchi along with Steve's brother Denny DeMarchi formed ALIAS. Wolf joined ALIAS in 2014. Steve and Denny both ended up being touring musicians for The Cranberries. Steve also cowrote songs for Dolores O'Riordan's solo album Are You Listening and both Steve and Dennis toured with Dolores for that album
Good choice Shannon! Nice song, brings back a lot of memories.
My best friend had this on cassette. Man I miss this music.
I was born in 1966!! I love Sheriff!! Among a ton of other awesome Bands!! Thanks, Ty for playing that memory!
19.3 seconds World record longest note held his name is Freddy Curci. love this man.
Wow!!! Haven't heard this song in 30 years❤️❤️ baby yayyaya my world stands still when I'm with you ❤️
Love this song!!!!! I was teenager in the ‘80’s. And like you said, it is definitely an 80’s song. I think you mentioned something about the blind guy who played the guitar in his lay from the 80’s. His name is Jeff Healey. His hit was “Angel Eyes”. Could you react to that one?
That was a friend of mine's cousin from school. She told me all about his passing. He was very loved in that family
My first make out song as a teen lol...
And here's Jeff with another guitar icon, SRV - breathtaking! ua-cam.com/video/2mKggAwT-YQ/v-deo.html
LOL Hey, remember this?
DALTON: "You play pretty good for a blind white boy."
JEFF, SMILING: "...And I thought you'd be bigger."
😆
@@philpennington826 lol. Yes... Road House.
I was in my late teens when this was huge! My boyfriend at the time played it and said “this is our song”. It is and always will be “our song”. Very fond memories... Alll these years later, I do still think of him, EVERYTIME I hear it- 💛✌️🤘🏼
LOL This was EVERY couple's "our song" when it came out.
This song was number one on the Billboard charts in 1989. More than 4 years AFTER the band broke up! The recording was gathering dust on a shelf, but a Las Vegas disc jockey found it, loved it, and starting playing it. The 7 year old song caught on fire and spread to radio stations all over the country.
The most beautiful love song ever written.
Love your side-eye when the song starts 😊
Great song from a great Canadian band sir! Thanks for covering it!!
The lead singer Freddy Curci went on to form a band called Alias and had a couple hits. Their biggest hit was 'More Than Words Can Say' which went to #2 in 1990.
Played at a lot of weddings and proms . Classic .
Another incredible song to react to! Thanks so much! Brings me back to my high school days. It’s one of the songs that I dedicate to my awesome wife. God bless!
That last note is actually in the Guiness Book of World records as the longest note held in a US released song. Guy had an incredible voice back when it was just voice to tape
Freddie Curci......It's original. He held the note so long and didn't know when to stop!
This song takes me back to the 80's when I was 15 to someone I have always loved!!!!! Always will!!!!! 😭
Whoa whoa yeah yeah! Love this one! Classic!
This is one of those songs that took several years to become a major hit. It was recorded in 1982 and stopped at No. 61 on the Hot 100 in May 1983. The Canadian band broke up in 1985. Capitol Records re-released "When I'm With You" in late 1988 after U.S. radio stations rediscovered it that fall. It ended up hitting No. 1 for one week, 2/4/89.
Unfortunately, Sheriff wasn't able to capitalize on its success because the members weren't interested in reuniting. But two of them, lead singer Freddy Curci and guitarist Steve DeMarchi, eventually got with other musicians and formed the band Alias. That group hit No. 2 in Fall 1990 with "More Than Words Can Say."
Brings back so many memories from my teenage years...
I've always loved this song.
Brings back beautiful memories from 11th grade prom! Love & miss the 80's! 💔
1982. That last note made it the World Book of Guinness. Also Donna Summers made it in the W B of G R
Dude can SANG!..no autotune
A one-hit wonder that still makes people stop the car to listen to it. Ty - if you are into good power ballads, I suggest Dionne Warwick's NO NIGHT SO LONG.
My fav by her.
Freddy Curci one of the BEST!! Guinness book of records for that note
This was the perfect wedding song for the bride n groom. This one is an ole skool of the 80's. Good song.
Thanks Brotha!!!
That man has a set of pipes!!!
That's a Guinness book of world records longest note winner.
Imagine seeing a local band playing Rock covers and many originals in the early 80's, over ten times. Then disappear for a few months to record and album. The Sheriff album still sounds great today. Some song's were originally slightly different, but When I'm With You was played live, it was jaw dropping to hear Freddie's amazing vocals. They were cool guts and very approachable to chat with.
Song was a non-hit in 83, came back in 89 and hit #1 on Billboard.
A minor blip in the charts in '83..when I first remember it..age 19..it hit me then at a certain point in life..then..a big US hit in '89..when I was 25..a totally different point in life...it meant something much different to me then. ..The years between age 19 and 25 are not the same as the years between 49 and 55...the world changes in those former years..
1983 I fell in love with this song. 1989 The rest of the world caught up. ;)
Lots more of Freddy Curci vocals and Steve DeMarchi on the Alias Band Fan Club channel. For you that don't know, Singer Fred and Guitarist Steve formed ALIAS after Sheriff.... Big hit in ALIAS was MORE THAN WORDS CAN SAY
I think it’s an ok song.. Freddy Curci’s voice is the only reason why it wasn’t forgotten to the 80s lol
Haaaa, watched the very ending of your video, you’re crayzeee!!! Loved the hair!!!
That's a legit note no echoes at all he just got the talent
I love this song! It is my favorite from 1988!!! One of the very best. ❤❤❤❤ Thank you to whoever requested it. My song!
Released in 82 in Canada...re released in LA in 88 I think and became a number 1 record in the states..in Canada...it did hit #1 when it came out..not the second time it was released though
Love this song. Lead singer Freddy Curci is an amazing singer.
Oh, this song has so many memories with it!
LOL *LOTS* of people around 31, 32 years old right now, were MADE to this song.
I turned 14 in 80 so these are my kinda songs
I hear you. I turned 15 in 80.
Recorded in Hamilton Ontario Canada (my hometown) at Grant studios. .good back story to this song..watch..behind the vinyl...and I'm sure you know by now, that the last note is legit..he held that suckered cause the engineer didn't let the singer know where to cut off...so he just kept going
Oldie but a goodie! From 1983, released in Canada although it showed on US commercial radio in 1988. Why took so long? Apparently the song didn't do well in America on the first try, but a radio DJ brought it back in 1988 and somehow it became viral for the second time, reaching the top of the Billboard Charts. Also, not an echo at the end. Not even auto tuned (Was autotune available in the 80s?). That note came at a record 19.4 seconds long, by Singer Freddi Curci of both Sheriff and Alias fame! :)
His last note is 1000% legit
The way that song was made big was because a dj played it and everyone loved it and they got back together to make the then cassette
SINGER: Fred Curci.... One of the best singers in history. After Sheriff he and guitarist Steve DeMarchi formed ALIAS with Steve's brother Denny DeMarchi. With ALIAS their big hit is "MORE THAN WORDS CAN SAY".... Both Steve & Denny also became touring musicians for The Cranberries. .. OHHH IF YOU WANT TO HEAR FRED LIVE... Top this note - Fred with Sheriff live in Toronto at the El Mocambo - ua-cam.com/video/pXgoeTeDlmE/v-deo.html ... lets hear anyone sing like this
This song was originally released in the early 1980s, '83 to be exact when it was a top ten hit in Canada. It didn't get a release in the US until 1989 when it hit no. 1. The band's keyboardist, Arnold Lanni, went on to produce big Canadian rock bands like Our Lady Peace (look up "Clumsy") and Finger Eleven (see "One Thing.) The end note was held for 14.9 seconds, which, at the time at least, was the longest held note by a male singer on record.
I think I remember this song. Alot of great memories from the 80's for me.
One of the great power ballads of the 80's. Yes sir!
I just watched the live version and yes he does hold that note
Man can put them long notes out there, yes he can
Love this song!! My era!!
one of the all-time great power ballads of the 80s
This is my wife and my love song when we first met in 1989 been married 30 years in may
Made in 1979, live performances came out in 82, became #1 in 1989. Then came out with group Alias with another hit in 1990 More than Words can say
Oh this song...makes me smile every time I hear this. I absolutely love it.
Wow this takes me back, loved this song back in the day!
This is one of the best songs from the 80s.
I ❤ this group/alias/sheriff
Laryn, your song choices tonight are on point!!!
Love your reaction my brother in Christ.
Best song ever! I was 11 when it was re released
Another re-watch with ya- and commenting again as well- innocently reminiscing a bit about a bf in my teens; our song- his mouth to my ears ☺️- the note at the end was really his voice -and said to be the longest note held- Guinness book of World records- i so love it!! ( I’m still on the floor LOL, at the end!🤣). ❤️ 🤘🏼✌️
Beautiful song
Yep, Sheriff is pronounced just like the law enforcement title. 👮🏻♂️😄
This is a good song. I remember it was played a lot on the radio.
weird story. This song didn't become a hit for the band until after they broke up. The record company wanted them to get back together, but some members were already committed to other projects. That is why the band Alias was formed, to cash in on the sound of this song.
Great taste in music. Subbed!
Auntie D rocking it again tonight.. Lol
The last time I time that last note/breath it was 23 seconds long.
Love that color shirt on you! Love the song too!
Love this song. Brings back memories
The official info is 19.3 seconds, but in with the build up to the note, about 28 seconds.
Great love ballad...thx 👍

One of the last "45s" I ever bought.
Great song!!!! my husband and I played this at our Wedding in 1982💞💞💖💖💥💥was not a big song in US at the time but I married into a French Canadian family and this was a big hit up there.

This is another great song I had forgotten about, thank you so much 🙌👏👏👏. You should delve into Hall & Oates, maybe man eater 😄.

The song was written sort of as a marriage proposal - so yeah.

Those drums are a dead giveaway that this song was recorded in the early 80s.
