Summary This guide provides information on how to play Galactic Starfighter in the game SWTOR. It explains how to select and upgrade ships, customize components, and choose crew members. The guide also covers the basics of controls, including ship movement, speed control, weapon power, shield and ship health, and power distribution. It provides tips on using active abilities, targeting enemies, and understanding the game modes. The guide highlights three types of ships: strike fighters, gun ships, and bombers, and explains their unique characteristics and strategies. Highlights 💡 You can select and rearrange ships in the hangar bay, with the ship on the far left receiving double ship requisition. 💡 Upgrading components is important, but you can also use fleet requisition to upgrade crew members and co-pilots. 💡 Controls involve using the mouse to steer the ship, and W, S, and spacebar for speed control. 💡 Engine power is used for speed boost and high mobility actions, while weapon power is used for firing lasers. 💡 Shield and ship health regenerate over time, and power distribution can be adjusted to prioritize weapons, shields, or engines. 💡 Active abilities vary based on the ship being flown and can be used strategically in combat. 💡 In domination game mode, capturing points requires destroying turrets and standing near the node. 💡 Targeting enemies and objects is done with the E key, and firing lasers requires aligning the targeting reticle with the target. 💡 Three types of ships are highlighted: strike fighters (balanced), gun ships (snipers), and bombers (tanky with special pylons).
Switching power to engines and blasters has totally upped my GSF game. That, and the ability to just press "X" to completely stand still were revolutionary. Obviously it's risky to stand still but it can be very useful.
One thing I wish I had known when starting GSF was when you complete the "Introduction to Starfighter" quest, you're supposed to spend that fleet requisition buying all of the locked ships. With a few characters, my stupid self starting spending it on components and crew. Luckily I'm fairly good if I stick to what I know and don't try to experiment with new ships/builds, but I'd have more ship requisition across the board if I'd have known that.
Great guide Mark. I really like playing GSF and my guild runs it at least three times a week for conquest since you can now do the weekly three times during an invasion and smaller groups to get the conquest on each ship class (bomber, gun ship, scout, fighter) and it helps with the 10 group challenges (WZ, GSF, FP, OPS) conquest mission. People should really know that you can easily get over 500k in conquest points by just doing the dailys and weekly's on GSF. Sucks at the start because of the learning curve but once you get a few matches under your belt you are good to go and it becomes pretty fun.
If you find enough interested GSF noobs in your guild - there is a mode to set up a GSF challenge - like duelling. Very usefull for training since you can choose the maps , explore them and learn to fly propperly. Set up 2 groups of at least 2 members - leader challenges the other - off you go for 15 mins. Beats the ingame tutorial (the beacon of epic shitness) by several AU.
Super good guide, thanks! As a total PvP noob, I found it both full of valuable information but also not overwhelmingly packed with it. I think it would be interesting to go over example builds or the differences in various ship upgrades and what play styles they’re good for since making the right choice for ship upgrades can be challenging. Thanks!
Bro I have to thank you. I’ve just come back to the game after a long layoff and I used to be a beast in pvp. I was so nervous to queue again and find out….but with your guides I have been TEARING it up on the field as a Madness Sorc. TY!!!
ill add that GSF, earning about 3k tech frags per toon per week, is the easiest way to build credits by trading the tech frags in for gold crafting mats in the fleet. So even after you're geared up, you can still pew pew in space and get paid well.
I love GSF. I am happy it's relevant now. Is the problem where you lose all of your hanger progress when you start the Kotfe expansion still in the game?
That sounds like a nightmare. Pre 7.0 I would level my guys only using GSF and then jump to the expansions at level 60, and then jump again at 65, and I have never lost my progress in my hanger. That seems like a really bad bug though but I don't think it is happening anymore :)
One thing you forgot to mention. IN the hangar window, which you can also access by pressing H. In the top right hand corner of the hangar window is a ?, this will actually take you into a a tutorial.
Luv ur UI can u do a video on how to set up ur UI, i alrdy know about the Interface Editor and choosing GSF UI, but a explanation vid would be great tyfvid
I have looked up so many guides but I still can't get into this mode. Normally I love flight modes in games, especially if they are a bit more on the arcade side of things. But in swtor it just feels completely off. Controls feel kinda unresponsive, I have no sense of hit feedback or any idea where I get shot from because I can't see the lasers hitting me most of the time, the sound is very off as well, things that are super far away are insanely loud yet I can barely hear the shots that are hitting my ship.
Also doing World Bosses especially on Nar Shaddaa but you only get the weekly for having your character at level 80. You need 4 for the weekly and you can do the weekly 3 times per character. Also useful for levelling a character quickly so no downside to doing this world boss. You have to have your ship in the game though so around level 20 you should be able to hit world bosses.
It's like all this is happening in slow motion compared to how it is during real gameplay, did you slow everything down for us to see better, or am I crazy?
I officially unsubbed yesterday... this 7.0 completely ruined the gearing experience for me. Too many currencies, less options than before for my implants or 'set bonuses' and then not being able to mod my gear except for the augs. Ive had enough of this game for the next while. Literally 90% on my pvp Guild unsubbed in the last couple weeks... :( Sad how the devs dont consider players anymore... We give feedback and they completely disregard us. GREAT VIDS Please dont stop I'll keep watching all your vids until I see and hear from others the game is better... :)
dam and i though did not losed the touch on the gsf front indeed alot of player really ain't flyby veteran lol getting better finding my mark lately ^^.
no matter what I do I can't get a single kill not one in this mode, teammates steal my kills and when I am fighting one guy 2-3 guys come in and tag team me
glad your guide isn't the same as other pvpers "gsf guides"
"q up then afk"
I'm so glad that you actually play the rounds out

Oh for sure!!! I just started using X last night to finally really get into those dogfights around the satellite stations

I ignored this Mode, but now I love it and its the best way to gear up your char

I needed this for completing the galactic season quest, thanks man
The in game tutorial for this mode is probably the worst tutorial ever made so thank you for this
Yeah, I tried it today and it was basically fly to A.
Bro…you didn’t have to abuse that man in the corner like that 😂😂 straight demon time, I love it 👌

I never managed to navigate my way around the GSF mode until I found this video, and I've been playing swtor since before it was added to the game lol

Thank you for this. Been doing GSF for a couple weeks and I didnt know 3/4s of the stuff you shared.
Спасибо)
God i hate having to play this mode, thanks for the guide tho!
i swear the only reason why gsf is overwhelmingly popular atm is for gearing

this is the worst mode i ever played in any game. glad you made a guide for it.
Outstanding thanks for this
That was a handy guide since I'm looking at getting into GSF to get 326 purple gear

THANK YOU for this class.. cause I had no clue how to play. I'm about to get my pilot on lol.

I would really love if you do Carnage/Combat Guide for PVE for 7.0.
A super fun mode with actual good players in it that u can get so rich playing it u wont need any money as a casual player? Hell yeah
Luv ur UI can u do a video on how to set up ur UI, i alrdy know about the Interface Editor and choosing GSF UI, but a explanation vid would be great tyfvid

30 seconds in and I'm confused
great wideo
Great video brother
What is best way to get aquatic resource matrix
Heroics and daily mission areas. Yes, I know it blows.

I would also be good player if I played in that slow mode like you...
🤡
Quick question, does leaving energy on weapons only increase recharge speed, or also damage?
It gives you a small damage bonus as well I believe
So starfighter are only mach 1 ? :)
That's funny as we have jet fighters on Earth today that can fly several times faster ;)
no matter what I do I can't get a single kill not one in this mode, teammates steal my kills and when I am fighting one guy 2-3 guys come in and tag team me
how to afk in gsf without getting kicked?
Just play the game.
Is this the SW Squadrons?
No, its Galactic Starfighter (GSF), a sub game of SWTOR (Star Wars, the Old Republic), a MMO that's been around for years. FUN GAME!!!
I don't want this Play spaceship PVP this is a stupid thing and they should have never added this to the game I'll pass
