I am preparing to care for my mother-in-law after her TAVR. You are both so helpful. Her procedure will not be at Piedmont so know you are serving many others with accurate helpful information.
Relatively good summary as to what to do & look out for after a TAVR. What I find works well is when patients aren’t just given a list, but an explanation as to each list item, as Amy the PA did in the beginning, and what the RN did regarding SOB after the procedure.
I am 73 years old and just had theTAVR valve replacement surgery 1 month ago. The hospital stay was overnight & I checked out the next day. There was a slight delay as a result of the incision bleed of the groin. The groin incision must clot completely before getting out of bed. Pain was not an issue for me. There was no immediate change in my energy. Actually, I felt about the same before & immediately after the surgery. After 1 month, I am still feeling about the same. I didn't have any severe symptoms before or after the surgery. I was fairly active before the surgery but am just now trying to become more active. Hoping for the best.
High blood pressure is common after surgery. For those that had a birth defect the heart is functioning normal for the first time. Likely no doctor will confirm this but I've read studies high blood pressure
Do most TAVR patients go for a heart rehabilitation programme or therapy after their surgery? My 83 year old mother had just undergone this procedure. The operation was a success..She is now in hospital and feels fit to be discharged.
Michael Didomenico ..I had mine done July 28th and all went well. Going to cardiac rehab couple times a week just to be monitored while on different pieces of equipment. Hope you’re well too.
Thanks for the video.. it seems like my cardiologists wants me to go with the tavr procedure. My question if you do answer questions is, how long should I expect this valve to last? I had an aortic valve replacement 6 years ago but it’s failing.. thanks
Thank you for providing that info. I just had the TAVR surgery & was told the chamber replacement average life is 10 to 12 years. Depends on the person's diet and lifestyle.
First of all, I am not into extracurriclar activities such as sports, during the summer I do ride a bike more often to avoid having to take public transit and do not work doing roofing and similar heavy lifiting jobs. So I would expect the bio prosthetic valve to last almost 15 yrs or more. Question is, depending on size of blood vessel for the aortic valve (ie 25 mm) can a 23 mm be used on top of it when the time comes? Or does the 25 mm have to be surgically removed?
I asked a similar question for a relative of mine while we were talking to her doctors about TAVR, and in short he said the plan would be to put another one in with the same exact procedure, no removal necessary.
I have being asking myself the same question, the two questions I have to ask is how many TAVR's have you done and what brand of device do you use, the older or early one's leaked around the outside, is the device the latest design and tried and tested. that is what I have come up with. The first Cardio I seen was an Idiot and only offered me SAVR, I asked him what options do I have and received no reply.
Tree year ago in novembre 2019 y had her tranpentation hove a TAVR Iit wash do in Sherbrooke hospital Quebec Canada it wash the first operation in that hospital and the medecin hou have done that operation have save my life with that tavr valve by the vaine blood vessel because y had hand old bovine valve for 17 year and on parts broke so they could not replace it bay openig my chest it had been open 3 time so it can not be reopen The docter hou have save my life is Etienne Couture cardioligis from CHUS SHERBROOKE Quebec Canada
Jee wiz I never thought stroke was a risk of getting an angiogram. I have aortic stenosis + a tortuous aorta and am getting an echo in a few days. Have chest pain when forward bending while standing + running after my toddler grand child. Worried its time for valve surgery and know an angio is in my future but have stupid high LDL. How are you now???
I am having this procedure in a few weeks here at my local hospital. I am feeling better about it after watching this vid. I am surprised that one question didn't make the FAQ part of the presentation: "When may I resume sexual activity?"
Video was useless.did not tell what to do.ex.it said when you lay flat you feel like heart is crushing you.did not tell how to lay to help this issue.several things they did the same thing to.

My husband just had this surgery June 27, 23. Went home the next day and has felt so much better, with a lot more energy . Thankful for this surgery

You convinced me that the TAVR is the way to go. Thanks
This is quite helpful. My. Husband had TAVR last Thursday but didn’t get this level of aftercare detail.
I assume you will end up with a card for traveling similar to having a stent?
Thank you! This is the ONLY training I’ve seen for after care
My 86 yr old mom is scheduled for this Mon AM.

Question - is there a replacement for the nickel - what if someone is allergic to nickel?

Did things turn out well?
My surgeon has suggested heart physical therapy. He has let me make the decision.
I'm in the process of possibly getting a TAVR in the next month, and this was very informative
Michael Didomenico ..I’m getting this done in 10 days.

How do you know what hospital and doctor to use for this surgery?

When can you climb stairs at home
What about the use of Viagra / Cialis ?
What do I do now? I had an angiogram done before the TAVR and got a stroke. I’m now afraid to continue.

Spend more time with a competent physician and less time trying to find answers on the internet.
