  • In our last video we took out the Tracer 700 (MT07), and in this video we take out it's bigger brother, the Tracer 900 (MT09), courtesy of our friends at Damerells Motorcycles in Cornwall.
    What an awesome bike! The first one to make me question where the power had gone when i jumped back on my BMW GSA!

    Great review. I have the 2017 model for one year now, easiest riding bike ever, would not change it for anything else. I have covered quite a distance with two completed services already, combined weekend and commute without any glitch whatsoever. Added R&G radiator guard and tinted MRA screen. Turned front suspension two rings in, back shock one notch down from Euro factory settings. Added the OEM quick shifter (wiring already in place) for my own pleasure and the tinted MRA screen for higher speed wind noise and looks. My friends with bigger engined bikes regularly tell me how they struggle to keep up in the mountain passes! The low weight body and bullet train like acceleration have never failed to put a smile on my face, priceless.

    Good video Toby, like your commentary. I'm a Tracer 900 owner and I find it superb, and I've decided to get a bigger cog on the back wheel for more phenomenal acceleration, blast those Litre bikes in the twisties as I live in Wales.

    Thanks for the review. I liked it so much I bought one too. I do like the blue color over the other color option. I wish it had cruise control though. I need to get a new touring wind screen and panniers now. Thanks again for a great review. It is much appreciated.

    I bought a Tracer900 a couple of weeks ago after deciding I couldn't justify a CRF1000 Honda, and I have to say I'm not regretting the decision so far, its a lovely little machine. I've hit the run in 600 miles within two weekends and I now have to limit its use for a couple weeks while I wait for the first service. My only gripes are the noisy screen (lots of white noise generated while it does give you reasonable direct protection) and the seat gets hard if you sit still for too long. I tend to move around a bit when riding so I can live with it for a while longer I think. The OBC reckons 60+mpg while I'm keeping revs below 6k rpm too, which is promising! The motor is geared and mapped to real world speeds I think, hence it always picking up so well across the rev band, a great real world road bike so far.

      I've installed a National Cycle Vstream Sport Touring windshield and am pretty happy with it. Substantially less noise than stock, but a little bit of buffeting even at it's highest setting. Reckon I'll live with it, it's tolerable (I'm 5'9"). I've also removed the handguards, I'm pretty sure they were making a good deal of racket too. I can hear my motor now as I cruise on the freeway!

    Great vid. I've read that the torque setting for the rear wheel nut is so high you end up twisting the metal. Gives me pause. And the rear grab handles are so horribly attached. Other than these issues, it's very good value for an adventure styled sports tourer - well made, triple, high power, rider aids...

    Hi there, new to your channel and enjoying it. Looking to get this model possibly. Just want to ask 2 things. Firstly I’m 6ft, is the seating position nice and high so I don’t look silly, and secondly is it man enough for pillion riding? Thanks in advance for any feedback.
    Keep the reviews coming.

      Hey Kris, and welcome to the channel, great to have you along for the ride! Yep it will do pillion no probs, We are both about 5'11" and the seating position was great, have a try out first to make sure it fits you and I think they also do lowering kits for the pegs, but I think you will be fine... ride safe :)

      @RiderCamTV  7 років тому

      +MrNevo7 hey mate, it seems to be the quickshifter, where some forums have said it's to show that it is engaged as it's apparently a plug and play part. Hope this helps. Ride safe :)

    I need a commuter bike - prev fave has been the SV650. If you had to choose would you get this almost new or a 5/6 yr old 1200GS?

    • @RiderCamTV
      @RiderCamTV  6 років тому +1

      +Contact SC it's a hard one as they are quite different but if I wanted the bells and whistles on an iconic GS then I'd get a GS although it would have to be the air cooled version for that age. If I wanted a smooth newer engine that was a lot of fun as well as being a newer bike I'd get this one :)

      I found the seat on the Tracer very comfortable, although i havent ridden it for a ling ride, it seemed to hold me in all the right places and i got the feeling that it would be very comfortable. Ride safe :)

    • @OhNellly
      @OhNellly 7 років тому +2

      The FZ09 is a naked standard motorcycle and the Tracer 900 is a partially faired adventure bike. Right off the bat you notice the Tracer has a windscreen and tires that can handle a little dirt. Consider the bikes to be cousins, usually they will have different suspension and motor tweets. The adventure version will have more luggage capabilities, and different accessories for touring long distances.

    Why so much comparison with the 700? This is titled as a review of the 900, not a comparison, and they are 2 completely different bikes. You say it's very comfortable. Most reviewers, and owners, rate it as uncomfortable, some going as far as to compare the seat with a wood plank (and, having ridden one myself, I tend to agree with them).

    • @RiderCamTV
      @RiderCamTV  7 років тому +2

      +mpop4eva sorry that you felt there was too much of a comparison with the 700. But that's how the video came out and they are part of the same family. I found the seat very comfortable as I said in the video. Just because others find it uncomfortable doesn't mean everyone does and of course the review was looking at what it's like rather than a long term review. I'm sure there are lots of people that love the bike, and that's what I love about bikes, there is something for everyone out there :)
      Ride safe

    • @mpop4eva
      @mpop4eva 7 років тому +1

      RiderCamT, thanks for replying. Sorry, I didn't mean to make it sound like you couldn't or shouldn't find it comfortable, I was just very surprised that you did, given all the reports I've seen about it being so uncomfortable. It's likely that ones height and weight have a lot to do with how it feels. I'm 6' and about 230lbs and found the seat rather hard and uncomfortable on the test rides I've done. Most recently, I test rode the Suzuki DL650 V-Strom and then, immediately afterwards, sat on a Tracer. That is when it really felt like I was sitting on a wood plank. I must add that, irrespective of how hard and uncomfortable I found the seat to be, I still love the bike and it is top of my shopping list, and will be my next bike (hopefully before the end of September. Any later than that, and it might be worth waiting to see what the 2018 model brings).

    • @mpop4eva
      @mpop4eva 7 років тому +1

      steven Hurrell , from all I've been able to find, in very lengthy searches, the opinions of Yamaha's "comfort" seat vary from no better than the standard seat, to even worse and definitely not worth the money. It's a pity that we can't get different seats to try before shelling out a rather considerable amount of cash. Irrespective of the (for me) rather awful seat, I still love the bike. It's such a joy to ride.

  • @jal1797
    @jal1797 7 років тому +1

    it is an honest bike for its money but is a low budget one in comparison with multistrada 950 or Ktm 1090. It has an almost electric engine with continuous torque without bursts and sudden slippery of tyres but its suspension,brakes and noisy gearbox cannot rank it in the top sport touring-adv. middle engine class.Its product quality is also on average and the seat position very near to handlebar cannot help for long distances.The only reason I would select it would be economic reason.You should test ride Ducati 950 in order to have a total view of the picture.Besides that you have very good reviews!the only complaint is you should give more throttle!;)
