Very interesting findings. Glad you and Pal both tested this, saves me the trouble. Definitely gonna try it out. If Explosive shot can get double single target damage, it makes it a very viable skill for single target even if it doens't 1-shot Pinnacle Bosses. Good stuff!
hmm this is weird, might have to test this again. I'm pretty sure you already hit with both the projectile and the aoe regardless. Poe2 has shotgun capabilities on basically every skill. Maybe ground-targeting makes it so the projectile goes wasted unless aiming behind the boss (since it explodes before)? You did target behind the boss during the pierce showcase whereas you didn't on the aoe one. If anything though, this means I should pay attention to targeting behind the enemy so the projectile also hits. Definitely needs some more testing though, cool findings!
I went back and tested it and was unable to get more than 2 hits when aiming behind the target without pierce, let me know if you find anything else out ua-cam.com/video/qyJOnxxzF-0/v-deo.html
@@mikedawglol Hey, just tested it again and you were right. It does give double hits on bosses when aimed correctly. I still decided against it on my version, since it felt worse for clear for reasons I'm not entirely sure. My running hypothesis is if mobs run at you but you aim behind them you miss out on half of the damage. And since poe2 mobs are pretty fast, I can see this happening consistantly. There were stragglers left over after shooting that were not there without pierce. As for singletarget, I'll stick with shockburst rounds as it's still superior and the pierce investment doesn't translate to it. Either way, thx for your testing and linked to your video in my guide!
@@Palsteron yeah I don't think pierce is necessary if explosive isn't your single target. I'm gonna see how far I can push the 1-button build! Thanks for the shoutout
hey so been playing with this build a bit, feels great. im wondering if you ever considered acrobatics? or is that too far away to grab maybe? I think like my evasion i decent without it but as I go higher I am struggling to survive on ocassions I do get hit.
Yes I think acrobatics is really good and probably a great idea, I just saw a tree that I like and I'm gonna try it out. I think you have to give up a lot of damage for it but it's almost certainly worth it if you find yourself dying.
@@mikedawglol yeah this would be great, let me know what the tree could look like, cause i don't mind a bit less damage if I can live during boss fights/giga stacked rares.
Full evasion for sure, Path of Exile's armor formula makes it so that small amounts of armor are very bad at mitigating medium or large hits. So you either gotta go HUGE armor or none at all as far as I know.
Ryslatha should be 20-25% more damage so it's nice but not necessary. Pierce, flammability and oil give a lot of damage so make sure you're using those. Gas does give a small amount of damage but I mainly use it for the daze to guarantee a quick stun.

I am following the incredible build in acts, I just have to buy a crossbow with good physical damage every 10 levels, could you share the updated pob, thank you
@@DWNGG4 No, that's not as high an increase as high base phys. It's probably the second most important stat to look for on your weapon though given how gems scale base%, but you do need high base% in the first place.
with this setup on ur tree, do u still manage to hit heavy stuns for reset on ur ammo? also if you don't mind could you post your gear (just for reference, ofc everything will be diff for others) just so what i can work towards for.
I'll show all my gear and gems in my next video, I've been putting it off for too long hahahah because I don't want anyone getting baited I do hit heavy stuns very very quickly on bosses. It can be hard to stun delirious monsters on the first hit, but I just added Overwhelming Presence and it's gotten much easier.
You think there's a way to fit the herald pointe into that setup? Been messing around with triple herald and it feels really good, specially as density goes up
@@Elphiin it doesn’t have its own base damage. Ice and Thunder are both attacks which I think means they scale with your passive tree, weapon, and damaging support gems unlike Ash. I will definitely give Ash another look now that I have more spirit, I haven’t tried it in a while.
I think it has an accuracy check like other attacks. You have your listed chance to hit within 2 meters, dropping off to "90% less accuracy for targets further than 12m away" -- without any sort of tool or calculator, I feel that it's safest to build accuracy if you are attacking at range. 90% less is VERY aggressive, although 12m is also extremely far. It's possible our accuracy is not very good at 7m.
That's a great call, disgust-guilt-disgust is 13 ex for 50%, then you're capped with Clear Shot and two jewels. I have just been using cheap anoints up til now.
you can click the icon next to the dps and see all dmg numbers. you said ammunition dmg is not written, but actual numbers are in that menu. also nice find but, for this to work, we need to aim right behind the target, right. and i assume, it shouldnt be exactly double dmg, cause projectiles hit lower than the actual explosion also, how would you go on with blueflame for this build. i remember you recommended it for cold build, im currently playin cold. with herald of ice, its a big easy nice clear but how would it scale end game, idk
Using Three Dragons helmet with both Herald of Thunder and Herald of Ice means you can shatter stuff and get both Innervate and Ice Bite to proc for extra dmg. For bosses, Shockburst Rounds melts pretty much anything single target as long as you can apply shock reliably, and with Three Dragons it freezes bosses so it's extra nice.
@@Poutrenclume Since the class is deadeye, i worry about evasion much. i think its the best defensive and uniques prevents building up a good eva. im already loosing eva on gloves cause of blueflame. Three dragons seems nice on paper but i worry on reliability. right now all my dmg is cold+phys. anything i touch, freezes in an instant (bosses included). so it helps on defensive as well since mobs are frozen (rares also) in the first shot, gives me 4 seconds to kill them. So i think, adding pierce would really help on boss fights, and for map clear, we should change to fork with additional forked projectile passive. (which equates to 12 forked projectiles from 4 bolts) absolutely obliterates the map.
Both trees work just fine, I'll update it right now with my current tree. The tree in this video has a little bit more evasion, and I think that's gonna be really important when you're doing breach, beyond, and delirium in t15s.
It's just a slight boost that I set up before boss fights, not a huge deal but it does help. I do quite a lot of phys damage on my projectile hit so I believe the armor break is useful. Daze gives you 50% more stun buildup for 8 seconds which is kinda nice too. My damage and kill times on bosses were still great without it.
