  • When we bought this Volkswagen Beetle, I knew the door panels needed to be replaced. However, I did not know that they ran almost $800 for a pair of them. Let's see if I can figure out how to fix a door panel found in a junkyard. If you like this video, or videos like this please consider subscribing. If you are a subscriber…THANK YOU! That looked like an aftermarket Coverlay replacement cover over the grey vinyl upholstered section. They're expensive. They do just screw in like it was shown. There should have been little grey plugs to cover the screw holes. It's the best solution other than reupholstering the vinyl door cards.

    What epoxy did you use to fill the cracks and glue the insert back it?

      I cannot remember the name. It can be found at most any hardware store. It is a two part with either a 5000 or 10000 # rating. The big thing for me is the auto mixing nozzle.

      Per your edited questions, It was a bottle of 2 part epoxy, clear, and If I remember correctly, paint thinner is what was in the secret bottle.

    What kind of white paint was that? did you paint the door jams with it as well?

      @DunnageGarage  Рік тому +1

      I just used a normal rattle can in white, Painting the door panels would have been a great addition to the repair, I just didn't have the time for it. Had I done it, I/ would have used the same rattle can paint.

      @@DunnageGarage do I have to take all the paint off with the scotch brite pads or just scuff it up pretty good I’m also going to paint them white

      @@johndean5860 just make sure it is scuffed completely, the entire thing should be dull with no shine. Also sand any chips so they are smooth. You got this!
