Wicked footage Zeb. I loved seeing all the sign in detail and up close. I found it really educational and such an emersive experience if you know what I mean. Watching the video felt like I was there with you stalking sambar. Good work legend 👌
Try some ant sand so you don’t get stung/bitten or have to share your bed with them. Just sprinkle it where you sleep. It works really well . Hope it helps 😂
Yeah, mate, we were not wasting any time getting in. When you're using quality glass, it makes it easier, but they still hide well for such a large animal. Sambar have an amazing ability to avoid being seen, which creates the stigma about them being "the ghost of the bush"
I believe its a show of dominance against an intruder that they haven't identified yet. It would also alert other deer that something is bothering them. Other deer don't always get alarmed by another deer honking and stomping though. See had seen me but I was low to the ground which confused her from identifying me as a human.
Stunning footage, very beautiful country.
Glad you enjoyed it, we are very lucky in Victoria to have this public land available to us

Never thought of packing in ant sand 🤔 👍
I’ve tried it up there in the high country hunting the mighty sambar. Take care and happy hunting 😮
Boy I bet that is a great fly fishing river...So much good access and small runs...
It holds a trout or two 😉
Great video Zeb. You both were certainly moving fast to camp site on day 1... no mucking around. Great glassing. They are tricky to spot.

You would have to be putting those dry wallows on ya gps ??? For when it rains !!well done
Locked into the AVENZA maps mate 👍
Why do they honk and stomp like that? Are they trying to scare off predators or other deer?
