Lovely car. It’s interesting the tires look like a 2CV and they first came out and with those Michelins in 1948. Still need to flip that fuel filter around before you hand it over. Looks like it’s on backward. The red light is likely both ignition and oil pressure, as it is marked Huile and Contact.
Always look forward to your videos! Regarding the brakes, is it still possible in the Portland area to get brake shoes properly relined with modern materials? Trick is to get the leading/trailing lengths correct. Based on my own experience, I would do that. Always nice to survive an outing in today's traffic...
hi sneaks01! i put 2 stroke oil 1% of the tank volume in. it gives the gas/benzine the grase back. and rubberhoses are staying better in shape. i have a citroën dyane of 1967, a luxury 2cv if you like. motor was designed in the mid fifties. and the motor design basis is even from 1948. in my opinion the lead replacement is often unneccessary because in former times lead did what today the alcohol (e.g. E10) or MTBE does - anti knock agent.
4:50: I think the reason why you have both an indicator switch in the center of the dash AND a common aftermarket turn signal box 'kludged' onto the left side is that this car initially had Trafficators. The empty slot just forward of the front door was where they sat.
Lead acid batteries are best suited to Older cars as the charging systems are unlike modern systems with a much lower charge rate voltage , lead acid batteries can survive on charge rates as low as 12.8 - 13.1 volts , all other batteries require mid 13s and higher to take charge . Nice to see these cars on the road .
What a pleasure to see this Peugeot 202 drive, which is truly a unique experience when we know that this model was never marketed in the United States 🤩👍
5:21: The red light say "contact" (which I assume means that electrical power is working) and "huile", which means 'engine oil'. Not sure if this is a pressure or temp light (on some more modern Pugs it's both).
I saw a vidéo from " petites observations automobiles " shere they said the car has no hydraulic brakes, and you have to adjust them every 700 km ^^. I' m not sure if I ever saw one. Maybe in a museum, or in a car show, but I don't remember. And I live in France.
You'll find that driving a Renault 4CV will be just as sketchy, no syncro's on 1st, no weight in the front so the front of the car bounces all over the place. Good fun but you really have to concentrate.
"Essence" is definitely fuel. "Huile" ("hweel") is oil. "Eau" ("oh") is water. "Friens" ("fren") are brakes. Oh, and for fun, "Boite des Vitesses" ("bwat dey veeTESS") is "box of speeds"--the transmission!
Ho it's missing the original turn signal, the rectangular holes on the side in front of front doors. They are call " flèche " I would traduce this as " arrow " , it's and arm usualy articulated at the top that deploy and blinking when you activate the turn signal switch.
Those labels are a bit unsightly. and labeling the horn button, was that necessary? Love the channel, usually! Maybe a smaller font and white letters on clear tape would be less obtrusive.
Take into account my client is disabled and mid 90's, its what he wanted. He will be driving the car home for the 1st time since he's owned it, 15 years now. He calls it his " Last Ride" . 😁
Are those wheels from a 2CV? They look the same. Also is the engine the original as it looks like a Renault motor. The french word for oil is huile. Does it have a magneto or an alternator conversion?. You need to learn how to double de clutch for a smooth gear change on old cars like this.
Every time you take a car out for a spin I cringe beacuse you're driving with a phone in your hands. Please mount it somewhere so you can drive safely!
Love the styling of it. Definitely a quirky car, but that is part of the charm.
It’s the French style, really unique 😁
The button EG is Essuie Glace. French for wiper.
The EG branded knob , is for the " wipers, normally 😊
Stella, is the most fascinating Star of the channel,Mark😂
I hate to see it leave. Hopefully we will see 'er again for suspension and brakes.
Good to see the Peugeot going. I just bought a 1938 model. 👍👍

These 202,302,402 Peugeots were inspired by the Chrysler Airflow Models.
I’ve been enjoying your videos. Suggestion: a hat-cam gives perfect views in driving videos. Cheers!

Beautiful, what a lovely car. That's km/ hr Mark. Thanks for sharing.
With these older vehicles do you put any additives in the fuel like a lead substitute? Great car and video! 😊
Marvel Mystery Oil, perhaps half a cup with every full tank?

Yeah it's better to put lead substitute , valve anti recession additive.

Hahaha! He has the horn button labeled! Then again...on a French car, ya never know... ((LOVE Stella!))

its a neat old car.
The prewar versions with the folding roof were decades ahead of the Ford Retractable or the Mercedes SL and SLC😊

Such a great looking little car, detail on the skirts is over the top! Thanks

I do grill cheese sandwiches on my battery load tester
Omg that seat is so out of place. Starting to look good, except someone went full-ocd with the label printer... HORN? C'mon now.
Essence is French for fuel
I thought so, hoped so 😄
@@2stroketurbopetrol,the essence of life 😅
The electrical switches are push for on, pull for off...the opposite of what everyone but the French would think.
That red light in the gauge cluster says 'huile' which is French for oil, so guessing that's oil pressure.
".....And I think I'm going to love it too "
As will whoever sells WD40.😊
4:59 It's weird why they didn't just use a toggle switch for the turn sigs. My '61 Morgan and my '60 Bugeye Sprite both had toggle switches.
Beautiful Peugeot 202!....😁👍

I' m not sure but, maybe it's charging battery not that high at low revs, because it's a dynamo and not an alternator.
Looks like an old Fiat Topolino 😅
Nope it’s a Peugeot 202
@@geo2cv6tron14 I already know that .. thanks .

Cool video,,,, im getting rid of the subaru brat and bringing in a 53 ford consul 4 dr
neat
Hi Mark, doesn't the battery drown when it rains in that position under the grille?
Yes, probably

@2stroketurbo You did fine, helping an older car guy enjoy his wheels, with an eye towards helping him do it safely - THAT is good work, sir!
@@2stroketurbo The customer's always right...
Should be a 6 volt battery ?
I would have thought so too.

It looks like it but the width is different compared to those of a 2cv
@@geo2cv6tron14 ah okay, thanks for letting me know, it's much appreciated 🙂.

Yep. Over here in the UK you'd risk points on your licence and possible ban from driving. Very much illegal.
