- We head to the Medicine Bow National Forest in Wyoming for our second stop on our 40 day long road trip across the USA and back. While there, we explore the surrounding trails as a family, spotting multiple moose and take in the beauty of the high alpine. I also hike to the summit of the tallest peak in the range at over 12,000 feet. Finally, we are forced to flee a night of thunderstorms that threaten our cabin on the mountain pass.

Great adventure! The wildlife is amazing. Oh to do it all over again….. I’d definitely enjoy the outdoors more!
There is no way I would be walking a trail on my own. Not safe.
They don’t seem to understand that bear can smell you from miles away. They are not careful and doesn’t appear they carry weapons. I have been followed by mountain lions before, it is not something to Pooh Pooh.

That’s actually a myth. A direct strike would likely hurt us inside, however there are things that you can do to help, like keeping the windows shut and avoiding any interior metal.

I’m surprised that the first route you tried to take wasn’t marked better. You can’t be the first person to try to get there from that starting point….I would think that somehow, someone would mark the way better than what is was when you realized you were going in a loop. Glad you were able to find a different starting point. The view from the summit was absolutely amazing! Sorry the thunder and lightning impacted your stay, but it was smart to go down a little….you never know….I hope you, Riley, and Olivia are having a great time on your adventures that we don’t see. Amazing memories being made, and that’s what is important. Prayers for continued safe travels and adventures.

This is the type of camping I would want. My own private little cabin Yes, hamburgers sounds great. Much better than carrots, lol. Being able to haul that little cabin wherever is an adventure.

It looked like a challenge, but that is what makes it interesting. The scenery is beautiful. The comforts of the cabin are soothing. The storm exciting. Listening to the rain falling on the roof, feeling warm and safe in the cabin. Wildlife around you. Olivia is adorable and enjoying the outdoors with Mom and Dad. Great memories everlasting. What more could you ask for. ❤

Love this video. Beautiful scenery🌲🌲🌲The moose were so majestic! We're an hour from Vermont and the Adirondacks. We have never seen a live moose! My husband thinks they're like unicorns lol. Wow, such a great video! Love how everything is so functional and cosy with the cabin! Rylie sure loves the dish wash spray gun! I know you humans felt the altitude, but does it affect things like your gas stove that high? Or do you need to be higher up? I think the fact you had neighbours shows you picked a great spot to stop, and don't blame you for finding somewhere more comfortable to weather the storm in! That last storm at the Tiny A frame was good practice!

The rainy thunderstorms while camping were some of the best night sleeps I’ve ever gotten. Right along the snow storms and cold temperatures. Sleeping in the van rain hitting the roof of the van or the high winds and barely visible snowstorm covering everything around me. Good times.
