Some advice after this sub. Look over these cards and learn what you missed and how PSA grades. You can gain a ton of knowledge by doing this. Im guessing youve missed some surface issues or wrinkles. I do pregrading where i go over each card and what i see. I think you can learn a lot by doing this as well. Ive gotten pretty good on my predictions with vintage for sure. Good luck in the future with grading. I hope to post some new videos soon. You gained a new subscriber!
Thanks for commenting and I will take a look at your channel also. Yes I do have a lot to learn especially on these older submissions. I have to get past the "I think my cards look great and can be 7 or 8's" and look at them from a 3rd view.
Do some of those 3’s have surface issues or creases that we can’t see on video? If not that’s pretty harsh grading. I use SGC for vintage, I like the tuxedo holder it make the cards pop, unless it’s a black bordered card like a ‘71 Topps.
No creases, but one did have a mark on the back that I didn't see before sending. My fault for sure, and lesson learned to inspect with a magnifying glass next time. Thanks for your comment.
Hi! Just came across your video. First off these are all beautiful cards in any grade. As a collector if they look good at arms length that’s good with me. That being said, when grading, corners, edges, centering, surface wear, scratches and print defects all affect the grades. All your cards have at least one or more of these issues which is why you received the grades you got. Get a strong magnifying glass or jewelers loupe and look over the cards(front and back) closely and you will see the defects. If you are looking for high grades you need to be overly critical of the cards you decide to send in. Your Bears checklist card got an MK qualifier, MK means “mark,” in this case it refers to the pencil marks on the back. Minsizerq means minimum size required. This basically means a manufacturing issue where it was cut too small. If it was cut or trimmed after the fact it would have said “Altered-trimmed” Hope this helps some!
Thank you so much for taking your time to send me this comment. Great information!!! I will know for next time when I send in a new batch. Thank you again.
MK = MarK MINSIZERQ = MINimum SIZE ReQuirement Those were some pretty nice looking cards but some were way off center. Tough grader there. Maybe use SGC for your vintage cards next time?
Those are all nice looking cards that you should be proud to have in your collection. I learned the hard way too about grading. It is just not worth it. Collections are unique to each individual. I sometimes buy or trade for graded cards, but I think I am done sending them off to be graded. Nice collection that you have, for sure.
A couple of these cards were from my personal collection and the rest were found in large lots purchased through auctions. I'm learning allot on how to prepare cards for grading. In the future more time will be spent on inspection and asking for a second opinion before I send to grading. I feel I had my sunglasses on for some of these cards when I sent in. As a buyer, if I'm going to spend over a certain amount money I want the card to be graded. As a seller I want to do the same for the buyer.
Nice cards. While it does look like you got some tough grades, it's impossible to tell if you aren't describing why you are unhappy with grades like 3's and 4's on vintage cards. My guess is that there are surface issues like scratching and wrinkles and/or creases that you don't see. The opinion sellers will give you an opinion if you send them your cards - so honestly my advice would be to learn a bit more about the process and how it works if you don't want to be disappointed again.
I sent a 73 Joe Namath card into PSA about a month ago.(I haven't got it back yet). I thought it was a great card except for being off center, hoping for a 9 or maybe an 8. I'm kinda in disbelief that the cards that you had graded came in so low. Your cards looked good to me, I probably wasted money to get mine graded.

@@ValleyRidgeCollectors you will learn quick. I cant wait to see how you learn and see the results in your upcoming videos. Take care!
That looked like some extremely tough grading across the board. Makes me want to stay away from PSA with my vintage cards.
Thanks for comment. I don't blame PSA, I blame myself for thinking the cards looked better than what they do. ha ha

Thanks for comment. I will give SGC a try in the future.

Mk means mark of some kind. Also those two cards rejected for minimum size not met.
Thanks for letting me know. I'm new at this.

Thanks for comment. This is the first time sending in older cards and I learned allot on this one. Thanks for watching and more videos to come.

Thanks for comment. I'm going to have to buy a microscope before the next submission.
send it all to SGC
That would be a good video comparison. Thanks for the idea.
Yikes your "grader" must have been in a bad mood that day! PSA surely does stand for Please Submit Again!
Something went wrong. Thanks for comment.
How much was the total cost to have these cards graded? 🤷
I believe with the insurance and postage it averaged to $21 a card.
@ thanks for the data👍
