@@stevechance150 Respectfully disagree, I initially thought the same but the work/life divide is a major theme in The Bear, even more so in season 2, so I think Richie and Chef Jess connected in the same way Carmen and Sydney connected, as colleagues who hold an unshakable respect for each other professionally but that is it
There’s a deep satisfaction witnessing someone stopping their self-sabotage and corner-cutting, to honestly dig deep and do the hard work necessary in order to succeed, and achieve that success.
Lovely! Richie finding self-respect through learning to show compassion to others, is the Jewel in ‘The Bear’s’ Crown - I would recommend this episode, as it was recommended to me, as a shining example of great acting, editing, sound - great everything! I’m so grateful that I’m alive to see the whole 2 series, but ‘Forks’ especially…a piece of television history! Thank you for sharing! 🙏🏽💔🙏🏻
Loved the episode. Richie makes a U-Turn worthy of Jamie Lannister in this episode. Loved seeing him in suits from that point forward. I’ve got to say, after years of nonsense shows on TV, it’s great to see something so real and grounded. Seeing someone as broken as Richie transform elevates the show like the how the menu they serve is elevated above the beef sandwiches of the past. 👏 Bravo to the entire team at The Bear.
Another brilliant bit of direction was when Tiff calls Richie. The scene opens on Tiff and her new engagement ring. Cut to Richie answering the phone and he’s still wearing his wedding band. It perfectly encapsulates their relationship and set up the news that leaves Richie shook by end of the call.
The book is called Unreasonable Hospitality and it's interesting because in it I believe the author mentions of a story of getting a customer a new york hot dog cart experience and thats where they got the inspiration for the scene for the deep dish pizza
I love this one and episode 4 equally. In both, I kept waiting for something bad to happen and the fact that they were both wholesome was an unexpected surprise and both featuring amazing cameo's from Will Poulter and Olivia Coleman.
What a thorough analysis of the love story scene, my favorite scene as well. I love how he doesn’t know all the words to the song but is busting it out. Made me cry. You’re right…the subtle lead up to this scene made for the shared experience with Richie.
I come into this from a different, more emotional perspective then most, so I can't say that you'd understand why this essay made me cry. The photo of Carmie and Poulter was the punch. Well done. Your breakdown of the Swift through-line gave me more insight as well, so thank you for that. This was well made for under 4. Thank you.
I think i have never, ever in too-close-to-forty-for-comfort years of television rooted as hard for a character as i have for Richie from this episode onwards. I tear up just thinking about it, and on my first watch every ounce of me was willing Richie to GET IT. And none of it would be possible without the work put into the character leading up to this point. A lot of people love the Fishes episode, and rightfully, but Forks was probably my favourite bit of TV from 2023, amazing stuff.
Not only did the show us Taylor Swift's Love Story well, but also there are so many little things that made it perfect execution. First, when Richie feels the joy of making someone's day, as he's driving and hits the bump, the song changes key. And then he has his fight with Carmie and then wakes up late, he's still not at the realization he needs. The second time the key changes, it starts at the end of the episode, as the credits roll and Richie had his dialogue with Chef Terry. The key change is another symbol of all the changes that happened in the episode. "Every second counts" means something different at the start and end of the episode. Relatedly, Chef Terry and Richie both turn a corner and see a literal sign that symbolizes "it's never too late to start over." So many symbols in this episode. Soo good
by far the best character arc i have seen on a show in years, watching this with my adult daughter and we were convinced he was going to drop the pizza.......
Thanks for this- also my very favorite episode. Was always hoping for a break for Richie and this transformation was sooo satisfying. What a show, what an actor!
love the video! keep it up! :) I think for me the standout episode was the one about marcus. it had such a calm energy and just everything around it made me feel really content. Also it didn't really fit in with the rest of the season which i though was really refreshing, i later found out that the director Ramy Youssef directed the episode without seeing any of the prior footage of season two so it makes sense that it stood out so much.
Absolutely fan-fukin-tastic that they took the most childish annoying character... and made him my favorite over the course of 3 episodes. A magic trick really.
The book is actually called "Unreasonable Hospitality" by Will Guidara, who is a legendary restauranteur behind Eleven Madison Park, and a passionate manager of hospitality ❤
Not sure if this has been covered, but I don't think he has been to the Taylor Swift concert yet at this stage. So he isn't just enjoying Taytay post concert - he is PRACTISING for his daughter so he feels engaged and connected to something she loves and she can see that in her Dad. I could be wrong, but I like to think it.
I think S2 Episode 6 is the one that will win the accolades, but by god, this one is my fave. I couldn't stand Richie, and now, I am so on his team it's not even funny. His transformation here and the payoff in the finale, including the fridge showdown, just Ebon killed it.
When Richie took over the Expedite station, I got goosebumps
same
I hated richie season 1 & couldn't wait for him to be wrote off but then season 2 happened & now he's my favorite character on the show. Amazing arc!
I'm not going to lie, I was starting to find him a bit annoying... I agree brilliant writing! Thanks for the comment.
they set up his arc so well by making him so obnoxious in the beginning of s2
I am expecting him to hook up with that cute Expeditor at "ever", chef Jess. She made a point of telling him they were really going to miss him.

It's got to be the exact opposite of that German word for enjoying others' misery (Shidenfroi?)

You dummy, you actually forgot to mention the best cameo of "em all? SAUL FRIGGIN" GOODMAN! Did you even watch the show you ret*rd?

I can't stop watching this episode. It is the best episode of an outstanding season 2. Second favorite was the Copenhagen episode.
I loved the Copenhagen episode too!

Fun fact: The restaurant "ever" is real. The food featured are actual dishes on the menu. In real life, this restaurant has two Michelin stars.
Thanks for this- also my very favorite episode. Was always hoping for a break for Richie and this transformation was sooo satisfying. What a show, what an actor!
Totally agree! Thanks for your comment
This was one of the best episodes I have seen!!!
I remember the rush I was feeling when watching this episode. Such a banger!
I fucking lived this episode. For years. And I treasure those years. And I treasure those memories.
Ebon Moss-Bachrach is an amazing actor.
Me too. I can’t stop thinking about this episode.
you literally said it all... great episode... great video... cheers
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks
This was the chaser episode we needed after the shot that was episode 6.
love the video! keep it up! :)

hadn't noticed the 1989 T.shirt!!!!!
My favorite show -Top 10 of all time
The best episode of The Bear, period
Once of the very best episodes of TV this year.
Absolutely fan-fukin-tastic that they took the most childish annoying character... and made him my favorite over the course of 3 episodes. A magic trick really.

Thank you for pointing that out, my apologies! 🤦🏻♂️ can’t believe I missed that haha…
@@ponderyoutube hey, no worries! A book title means little compared to a great video that you made. Well done ☺🙌🤍
by far my favorite episode
yea there are a few best episodes this season depending on who you ask. This was a good one.
best episode of both seasons
Best episoed of the show!
I still believe, the middle part of this episode was just a dream of Richie... have a look at the table in his dining room and think about it 😉
My fave episode too

Can we talk about the White Squale movie poster. Weird and random. Im curious to know the story behind that. 3:16
I agree, Forks is a masterpiece.
I LOOOOOVED this episode! Go Richie~!💖
Oh, Brita's in this?
I prefer the 2x06 as the best episode in The Bear, but this episode is so good too
Such a great episode!
Agreed!
