Very amateur video maker.
give this man an emmy
I've been watching The Penguin on Sky Atlantic/HBO Max and I had some things I wanna say about it. I put this one together super quick so the editing isn't as great as usual, sorry about that.

the single sound that changed TV forever

As you’ve probably noticed, I’m a big fan of HBO shows (for the most part). I thought it’d be cool to explore how the static intro ident has impacted not just the TV industry, but pop culture as a whole. From its nostalgic crackle to the rise of digital, we’ll unpack the history, challenges, and brilliance that cemented this intro as a core part of HBO’s identity. Learn how just a few seconds o...
When Violence Is the Answer: Unpacking Mr Inbetween
Переглядів 226 тис.Рік тому
#mrinbetween #videoessay #rayshoesmith The saying goes: 'violence is never the answer'. But Mr. Inbetween forces the viewer to question this idea. I know I'm about 2 years late to the party for this TV show but I've only just recently discovered it. I was blown away by the perfomances and how much they could fit into just 30 minute episodes. Definitely check Mr. Inbetween out if you haven't alr...

You deserve more recognition....🗣️
The soldiers are very obviously on a wire and that adds a lot to it and I don't know why
I've just discovered this channel. I've been wanting to make a video on why I love Dune forever (I've never made a video before) and tbh, when I heard the Sardaukar singing, but with a different caption, I had a big-ass smile on my face. I absolutely love this video and I'm looking forward to more!! So so good!
buen bideo
the same shot caught my attention as well.....!!!...and thus i am feeling very special about this video.....thanks for taking your time to explain further hidden details.....
One thing I was struck by in Mr. Inbetween was, that as the series went on, Ray's world kept shrinking. His girlfriend, brother, friends, and even daughter, all fade from his life. He's left with the life of a killer and, by the grin he gives us at the end with that last "Run!', seems to realize that this is where he feels the most at home.
Dune feel grandiose
Same. This shot was life-changing for me.
Ray is the ultimate Sigma. As close to a hero as I've ever had
lol there's just too many people on youtube right now who know how to sound* smart but don't really say shit
such a great reading of a scene. 10/10
ty joe the nawaiuh
I love the show. This is the first time I came across a very well-written review because you didn't try to judge or explain... as the series does, you opened your heart and ideas to generate more exploration than conclusions. Kudos man.
I love to see my favourite Australian show get some love. Amazing video!
They were Sardaukar though, were they not?
very good show. The Batman is one of my favorite super hero movies ever
This episode is super underrated, we get to know Marcus as a person, we’ve already seen his kindness and gentleness in previous episodes, but this one dives into his vulnerability, his greatest concern/focus was on his sick monther. From previous episodes and the way Carmy behaves we think Lucas was going to be abusive or hostile , but the vibes was calm, he learn by making mistakes, Lucas was gentle and kind to him, and the bike scene was like all you said, he’s kindness and gentle spirit was validated by kindness from a stranger. I love Marcus!
That simple wire work in starting of Dune 2 is just pure brilliance
The editor is referring to our "lizard brain". The first part of our brain that everything else evolved & built over. edit: it's cool that Joe also narrated the part about pur sympathetic nervous system because I've learned about both the sympathetic system & our lizard brain in counseling. (I just celebrated 11mo sobriety)
One of the best shows ever
6:44 Dude, those called SUSPENSORS, come on
Images that appeal to the back brain. Werner Herzog talks about this as a search for 'adequate imagery'.
Violence was most likely the first language at the beginning of human existence that was understood by everyone...
Difference between force and violence?
Wow, looks like every frame a painting
Yesssssss!!!! It touched every sense of emotion, When I saw that intro I knew I was in for something special.
I've watched Dune and Dune 2 five times. Watching this video made me wanna watch'em again!
Denis Villeneuve being the director, such scenes are expected. How he did Sicario was also genius, esp. the border scene.
The sound design in this video essay is really amazing, alongside the editing. Kudos to this channel!
sure the movie was great but perfect? the scene you fangirl over felt like a "f*c* this, lets just hang em by a wire" and far from "cool" as you so eloquently put it ...
That shot is the weakest. I can't NOT see men on wires, it's embarrassing, just like crouching Tiger hidden Dragon
Film is technically brilliant Has a hyper realistic aesthetic Unfortunately the world doesn’t look lived in Lacks soul somehow
Creepiest smile ever.
Nice work, keep it up
People that are disrespectful, rude and mean have never been punched in the face and it shows. Sometimes they need to be reminded that actions and words have consequences.
youtubes trying to tell me i cant say this free speech nazi cucks. v iolence natures sweet little problem solver
"And force my friends is violence. The supreme authority from which all other authority is derived."
Well done.
Whenever the argument about violence comes up, I'm reminded of a Bill Burr standup piece. He said every time he ever got punched in the face he'd be driving home afterwards and think "I was kinda being an arsehole back there" Although violence isn't really an answer, I can't help feeling if the so-called elites, like Trump, Kushner and Musk had someone drag them into line when they were young, they might not be such arseholes today.
Love Mr in between
love the Marco Pierre White quote in the beginning
An absolutely amazing video, stunned by the intro and entranced throughout. You are sir, very gifted!!
That moment was exactly my thoughts. The second they began to float, I thought…six minutes in and this film is already better than Dune. And Dune was a four star film. Denis, took that step. His confidence and craft galvanized is an epic and spectacular way. I sat there in the IMAX theater with jaw wide open for the next three hours. I thought, there is no way this film will sustain this greatness. No way it will keep getting better. I was so wrong. It proceeded to just rise and rise into the perfect film it literally is. My second favorite scene is when the people of Giedi Prime are celebrating Feyd. The inky fireworks light up white near a bridge tunnel structure Feyd is walking through. The lights reverberate through the windows and reflect of the glossy black surfaces and Feyd’s face. It’s simply amazing. Deakins, man.
It's not oxymoronic, it's life. As a genx I wonder where it has gone. We doomed bcos we weak.
Tremendous analysis of a brilliant show. Absolutely primal.
"The V-Word" (thanks YT) has been overwhelmingly the most efficient and effective solution to most of humanity's problems for as long as humanity has existed.
Please tell me you’ll watch Sam Esmail’s Mr Robot and that you’ll do these brilliant videos on it!!!
The acting throughout from EVERY character and ‘extra’ was perfect. I have rarely seen such a professionally produced programme. Special shout out to the guy who plays Ray’s brother. Sublime acting.
Utilizing UE for scene capture planning is such a smart move and makes for an incredible advertisment of the engine
I did enjoy it! Cheers.
