    Thanks for sharing! I’ve been writing with wrist and fingers all my life. Tried this method and realized it’s very, very hard to get used to. I will see if I could stick to it. I hope there are some drills that I could do everyday for this. Something like a P90X for Palmer method?

      I actually know a guy that lost like 100lbs doing P90X, so you might be onto something!
      The best we have at the moment are the publications from the late 1800's and early 1900's. Any "Business Penmanship" book you can find is worth reading when starting out. I recommend the Champion Method by Mary Champion: archive.org/details/ChampionMethodOfPracticalBusinessWriting
      You can also check the playlists on my channel where you can find three different series of videos I've made on Business Penmanship: ua-cam.com/channels/MJQJcvveDzc1N5qYJSX7Nw.htmlplaylists

    Very nice demo. The camera angle you used is very helpful; it makes it clear that your wrist is not making contact with the paper. Thanks.

    Thank you. I recently received the book on Palmer Business Writing and found the arm/hand positioning to not be illustrated as well as I would like. Your video is helpful.

    Thank you for your video. I learned the Palmer Method in 5-6th grade and have enjoyed writing cursive my entire life. I use a antique Waterman's pen for letter writing.

    Can you make a video like this where you write a few sentences? I have been practicing Palmer method over a week from the booklet and now the area between my shoulder and elbow hurt? I find it difficult to write words while moving my arm.

    Hey, does handwriting also depend on clavicle and scapula?

    • @PerfectBiscuits
      @PerfectBiscuits  4 роки тому +1

      I don't know enough about anatomy to answer this with confidence. Pretty sure I know what the clavicle bone is and as far as I can tell, it seems to only play a supporting role.

    What a great video and tutorial. I have a very wrong way is that I slide with the side of my hand, and since I practice so much this past months since April, it see,w okay. But at some points, I think I need to slowly change that

    • @PerfectBiscuits

      Just depends what you want to do with penmanship. There is no wrong way.

    Does your middle finger also touch the paper while you are writing?? It happens to me and I don’t know if it is normal or not 😔

    • @PerfectBiscuits
      @PerfectBiscuits  2 роки тому

      No, the middle finger doesn’t touch, but not a big deal if it does for you.

  • @Luaqunix

    Sometimes the tip of my middle finger is also touching the paper, is it right?

    • @PerfectBiscuits
      @PerfectBiscuits  3 роки тому +2

      No, middle finger should not be touching the paper.

    • @Luaqunix
      @Luaqunix 3 роки тому

      @@PerfectBiscuits Oh okay, I'd noticed that when I distribute the weight of my arm in the forearm area I have much more control than when I just distribute all the weight equally from my finger through my elbow, and also my middle finger is less likely to touch the paper when I do the first one. Should I keep it that way or try to distribute it equally?

    • @PerfectBiscuits
      @PerfectBiscuits  3 роки тому

      @@Luaqunix You want the center of mass of your forearm muscle to rest on the edge of the table and your hand turned up so the back of your hand is close to parallel to the surface of your desk. If you middle finger is touching the page in this position, it's not the worst thing in the world. It's possible that you are gripping the pen to closely to the tip or that you have a long middle finger. I'm not concerned that your middle finger is touching the page as long as you have the rest of the position right and you aren't using the middle finger to stabilize or support your hand.
      Also, this video might be helpful as well: thepalmermethod.com/intro/palmer-method-posture-grip-arm-position-and-paper-position/

    How lightly do you hold your pen? Cause despite not using my palm or my fingers. I started to feel strain just holding my pen.
    Any tips?

    • @PerfectBiscuits
      @PerfectBiscuits  4 роки тому +1

      I hold it very lightly, just enough to keep the pen from moving around in my hand. If you’re really writing with your arm, you’ll find you don’t need to grip the pen tightly because you aren’t controlling the pen with the muscles that are gripping the pen.

    I don't want to obsess about details, but: I noticed that your second finger does what mine wants to, team up with the third and fourth finger (or is it vice versa?)
    I've been fighting this, but I'm not sure how much I should bother because I think some of it has to do with finger length. Your thoughts?

    • @PerfectBiscuits
      @PerfectBiscuits  4 роки тому +1

      Linda Sue yea I don’t think it is worth worrying about. All that really matters is that you have a light grip and are driving the motion with your arm, not wrist or fingers.

  • @mydavegabicycle

    Sorry if you had posted this elsewhere, but I've seen things mentioned but can't find a direct comparison.
    Is there a difference between Whole Arm Movement and Muscular Movement, and if so, what are they?
    Thanks!

    • @PerfectBiscuits
      @PerfectBiscuits  4 роки тому +3

      Gary Au i cover the different types of movement in this video: ua-cam.com/video/d1f2M-fxlVc/v-deo.html
      Short answer: yes, there is a difference between whole arm and muscular movement. Whole arm is performed with your arm completely off the table. Muscular movement is what you see in this video, where my forearm muscle is resting on the edge of the table.

      It would work pretty well for exams, especially if you have problems with your hand cramping when writing for longer periods of time.
