@@SnapBolt Please do! a 3-2, 5-0 and 4-1 in a row are pretty expressive results, and the deck is a BLAST to both watch and play. I've been playing a list with some changes because some of the cards in the list are quite expensive.. but even so, I've been having so much fun. I stopped enjoying BW after MH3, but Mardu revitalized me
I like a 1 of Smash to Dust in the main as a hedge vs. mono red and affinity. It can come in handy in other matchups as well. Thraben Charm seems like it would be better if you played more... Thraben (Inspector). Gorilla Shaman coming in v mono red has got to be wrong, but idk. Thanks for the great content!
@@JasonG69001 yeah, shaman isn’t that great vs red but perhaps you can get a cheesy win. I don’t hate smash to dust either, I used to play one, maybe it’s worth bringing it back.
Not the best luck this time. I’ve enjoyed watching you brew this one. I was wondering if Thraben charm was going to be good in it. I don’t think it was. Thanks for the video! 😊
Didn’t matter much in the end, but I think that in the first game, when the opponent had all those big creatures and you casted strands in his upkeep, the best play would have been to cast in the attack phase, so that you could remove 1-2 of his creatures. The risk was for him to top deck a counterspell, but I still think holding the cast would be the best play.
Could Militia Buglar possibly be a replacement for Inspiring Overseer? It grabs every single thing except the Paladin, and is a decent Ephemerae target.
Love the deck overall. But i cant get onboard with the 1 of looting. Feels like just another removal spell like a cast down or the 4th galv blast or ephemerate would be much better. I think its just a leftover from previous iterations.
What about Raffine’s informant in the faithless looting slot, and/or inspiring overseer slot? Kinda fills all the roles, discards strands, is a white creature for strands, can loot away lands late, while also being some kinda target for a stray ephemerate, though not ideal there for sure
Don't love informant as a card - It's just not that strong overall. I'd rather play Spirited Companion. I'm currently in the middle of a league with 0 faithless looting.
IDK, I feel like Faithless Looting is something you are either all in on and then play less lands (esp since you are a Wildfire deck) or cut it entirely. As a one-of you will never have it when you really need it. I guess since it is card disadvantage and has flashback you could play 3, but in my mind it's either 3-4 or 0.
@@SnapBolt It makes sense in my head :) I kinda think of FL like a red cantrip. If you were playing blue you wouldn't include just one cantrip (ponder/preordain/brainstorm/etc) in a deck. Just in general I tend to believe that you want as close to full playsets of things you want to be doing early in your deck. Here I think you want to build you mana and sculpt your hand for the late-game strategy you want to employ in the match. To me that says you want to maximize your chances of drawing Wildfire for the mana, and for lack of better sculpting cards, FL. As mentioned before, it is card disadvantage and it does have flashback, so the full four may be a bit much (or maybe not???), which leads me to suggest three.
@@andrewzimba7432 you said it yourself, it’s card disadvantage which makes it even worse when you draw multiples. It’s nice to draw early to hit land drops or discard strands but it’s also nice to draw late to discard lands in the late game. We’re not a super synergistic deck based around it where we would want 4. All that being said I am tried 0 looting in the next league
Hi I've been playing a list very similar to yours since the rat was out. My results are decent, but I can't really win a single match against combo decks. What's your plan vs Altar Tron or Walls/Goblin Combo? In most of the cases I play elementalist+ephemerate and d2d for Tron combo pieces, same with pyroblast for Walls, and concede button vs Goblin combo. Also I used to struggle against aggro decks sometimes, so I added 2x Unexpected Fangs specifically for flyers/paladin/cleric(so that it doesn't die to bolt) and magically started winning vs rakdos madness and mono-red much more consistenly.
@@andreacoppari6797 I think combo decks are your worst match ups. You can bring more graveyard hate but other than that those are probably just going to be bad match ups for this archetype. Maybe a duress or two but it’s tough on the mana so not sure. Vs walls kark-clan shaman seems like it would be the best tech. Even if you have to sacrifice a bunch of lands you still wrath them Fangs is interesting tech
I think that maybe you should hedge against red a bit more. Seems like maybe it is starting to become more of the meta again. So maybe cut something for a breath weapon main and keep the other two in the side board so you can go up to 3 in total. Also maybe cut one of the artifact hate cards for one cast into the fire because it does double duty against affinity and mono-red.
could this be considered a tier2 right now? it seems pretty good in the meta even if in this league got unlucky, maybe there is a way to make it less cluncky, love the deck and looking forward to buy it in paper but i'm curious about your opinion
@@raffaele7927 I think it’s around teir 2 at this point. It has some really good and some pretty bad match ups. I’m still working on improving the deck!
I think you've given thraben charm enough of a chance. I'd cut it for a cheap white creature like spirited companion or something that can help you stabalize easier. Your draws were crazy bad so it's hard to judge the deck based on this league though.
just finished watching, seems like you need another breath weapon in the 75... one in the main might not even be bad. mono red is very very tough without it. hedging one main might not be a bad idea, 3 in the 75 seems like it would be good.
@@SnapBolt just some extra sweeper of some kind krark clan can fit the bill. 0-3 against mono red last 3 matches seems like it needs to get some attention :)
I tried out the deck for the past two days following your success, but in my opinion its quite inconsistent. It doesnt really have a solid plan, a couple of bad draws and you dont really have anything to play with. Been playing this deck as sort of a ramp to monarch and initiative and then try and protect it using strands, but like i said, if you get couple of bad draws or get mana screwed you cant really compete with the top decks which are wildly more consistent. Not to mention the rise in devoid creatures which are a pain to deal with. Ill be dropping the deck for now but Im looking forward to see how you will refine it in the future, and I hope you have great success with it! The wins that I got felt really great!
