Most castles in europe are renovated like this where you only change what has to be or needs new technology implemented. All in effort to preserve the sites. You won't see a pink castles sticking out from the countryside construction laws are heavily regulated.

Love your hard work, though I would have made easier for me on the ceiling renovation. I think it would have been easier to complete the ceiling medallions on a table, gluing parts, painting, etc and then applying the finished product on the ceiling.
Beautiful work. Congratulations on such gorgeous result.

Totally agree. Nearly all videos on YT are a pain to watch because the very first thing the new owners do is throwing everything of the interior out. Then they install new plastered wall, new plastered ceilings, modern bathrooms etc. So the whole original soul of the building gets destroyed. One wonders why they bought an ancient building in the first place when they prefer modern aesthetics. Such a shame. This is the first example that I have stumbled upon that really tries to preserve the style of the 19th century. What a great job!

Heritage? Of oppressing the peasants or what? Weird...
In Japan they burnt down most of the feudal estates, Samurai houses in particular, during the restoration period. And I see why. Funny how that goes.

@@mysterioanonymous3206The restoration period, as in the Meiji restoration where the emperor consolidated his power, yeah nothing screams freeing the peasants more than putting a monarch on the throne. As for destroying “samurai houses” go the “peasants” didn’t do that either, it was done by the Meiji government because of expensive upkeep and making sure their rule wasn’t challenged. The french peasants on the other hand were the most oppressed under the revolutionary governments, funny how that goes when you learn a little history.

25:27 Lovely lady, What courage and creativity and discipline you have to restore this chateau to such beauty.. You and have inspired me to get off my comfy armchair and clean the windows and damp dust all surfaces and get my home into a lovely warm inviting orderly place!. Much kudos to you and your man helper.. I would have like the chandelier to be lighter in colours.. it’s a bit dark and heavy for the rest of the fresh gold leaf and light lovely paint.. The wall paper in the panels is a superb match.. The texture and richness of the tall curtain drapes blends brilliantly.. I could go on but must stop..

"wow" what can I say, words can't express what you two have achieved together over this past year, I commend you both for your hard work, due diligence and keeping your eyes on the prize, you have achieved what most couples would have killed each other over and lived to talk about it. Carole, you have the patience of a saint with the pain staking work on the molding to get it just right the gilding, the wallpaper per each room, Adrian the hard muscle work you have done over this past year, the chandeliers, floors, the gardens you both worked on and Carole your mum as well, this could go on forever so let me wrap this up. I can't wait for next year's projects. LOL. Happy/Merry Christmas, take some well- deserved time off and enjoy. Much love from N.Y.

My eyes got all stingy when I saw how much care you took to copy and replace instead of ripping it all out and making it easy. This house is truly your labor of love. I am in awe. Thank you for caring for something so beautiful and precious, one of a kind!. And I had to laugh watching you two work. It reminded me of an old toothless high-village Nepali grandmother I read about who said, "Women go "Tink, tink, tink" and men go "Tank, tank, tank!" Its true, beauty is in the little details that really make a house a home. Strength, safety, and protection is in the underpinings.

This video not only shows the amazing amount of work you two have accomplished this past year but how well you both complement each other's skill sets as well as how detailed and respectful you both are to your particular craft in this restoration project. This video also highlights how much you two are smiling and laughing throughout this project. One has to have a sense of humor and some majors skills to take on such a huge project- Carole and Adrian, you two are amazing and you are killing it in bringing this old chateau back to her glory days. Beth, you did a fantastic job of putting this video of 2022 together. Merry Christmas- drink lots, eat lots and be as lazy as you want over the next couple of weeks. Peace and happiness from Donna in Taiwan.

This is so inspiring I almost cried. The love and care you've devoted to restoring as much as possible is breathtaking. This video isn't something I usually go to UA-cam for so I don't know why it came up on my feed today, but it has been the perfect timing. We are recently dealing with a mould/damp issue in our Edwardian semi detached home (nowhere near the scale of your beautiful property) and the idea of having to replace floorboards and plaster and decorating was a little overwhelming and I'll be honest I haven't even searched anything on my phone because I've been burying my head about it.... So your video popping up this morning had been comforting and inspiring. You've done such an amazing job, you can really see your passion in your work. Thank you for sharing!
