I have these for around 2 years, and I love them, but they did become less comfortable and my ears started to hurt once the foam got a bit squashed. It was especially noticeable (and hurtful) during longer gaming sessions. However, note the past tense - because there's a solution (though one that makes an already expensive headset even pricier). If you do have this problem and don't want to let the headset go, consider getting 3rd party cushions. I don't want to sound advertorial but there's a WICKED good brand for such things out there, if you get my drift - I got these and not only is the headset perfectly comfortable now, but the sound quality, and especially the ANC, improved as well.
4:09 Thank you for this! I was wondering if there's much latency on the analog input. Do you know how much there is exactly? You can measure it pretty easily by putting the headphones near the mic, making a transient noise (like flicking your fingernail on the mic), and recording the feedback. But if you're monitoring your mic with it, I guess it can't be too bad.
thank you for the concise video, my almost 1 year long experience with it is similar but a bit different. Although I Love the battery idea and the inherently more eco friendliness it is along with it, (with E-waste and all that) I dislike the small size of them, seeming a bit wasted in potential since if it was a bit bigger it would almost double the convenience factor and future proofing of it all, since then it would just turn into "its bedtime, time to swap batteries" (its not that for me, batteries seem to have diminished in health making me have to swap around 1.5 times a day (although I never let it get to the beeping time always swapping when its been on 1 bar for a while since the display hub thing is right in front of me)) there are 3 negative things that keep me iffy about it all though, and if these things were to be reinforced/improved on I think I would happily sing the praises of this headset and use it for the rest of my life. 1 the earpads being seemingly made in a incredibly unhygienic and cheap pleather material that will fall apart if washed too strongly is a gripe, although upgradable. 2 and the hinges seeming almost intentionally made to easily break (I am inclined to believe that due to all the planned obsolescence stuff going on nowadays in almost every consumer field) 3 the strongest thing keeping me from saying this is 10/10 is the audio quality, don't get me wrong its more than adequate for enjoyment however I feel it looses detail in noisy or distracting sound-scapes, (such as loud guitar or drums or something going on and you loosing the ability to hear the smaller or subtle instruments in a song) I am no sound expert and although I have multiple different types of "audiophile" stuff (some IEM's and ATH x50 and beyerdynamic dt 770 pro) I myself only barely understand the sound curve and don't consider myself very in the know with all that stuff. however I am lead to believe this "audio muddening" from loud noises also decreases effectiveness of hearing in games. I am a big Tarkov/EFT player, the game is fun and the headphones are incredibly convenient with the dock sound adjustment features for things like discord and turning down the game to hear peripheral stuff, however such a noisy game MAY be a good example of how loud noises around may deafen out subtle footstep sounds and whatnot. (PS this is the idea I am getting from when I compare it to the IEM's and DT770's I have with the same songs (I daily use the IEM's when outside)) Like I said before, If those 3 things were to be addressed and improved on I'd love to have this forever, I think having such strict demands especially with the audio is fair considering the pricing of this thing, other than that it has a incredibly well built software accompanying it, which make me very happy. Hope my comment made sense, I am not very linguistically inclined.
Not that it matters, just throwing my opinion out there, but I got some wicked cushions and I didn’t like how the audio sounded so subtly different. I ended up going back to the original cups
I like mine however I see one issue so far after a week. Loose mic noise when fully extended. But great audio and comfort. Trying to figure out how to stabilize the mic because it can cause noise if you turn your head. I think if you put something right where the mic comes out while extended it will lessen the movement to lessen the noise of it.

I disagree respectfully! I owned both this headset and the TB Stealth Pros am I used the TB ones for months!! I went through a bunch of EQs and never could hear things in games my friends could hear with SteelSeries! That’s when I gave these ones a chance and wow it was night and day for imaging and pinpointing footsteps!! I think it comes down to personal preference! I also had quality control issues with the TB ones like a broken headband and sound issues in the right earcup
That was an outstanding long-term review! Honestly, your voice is captivating! I've just hit the subscribe button:) I ordered the headset online on Monday and anticipate its delivery tomorrow. Can't wait to pair them with my Xbox! I've got a question I was hoping you could help me with. Do you think this headset will work fine if my router is only 1 meter away from the console? I asked my internet provider to switch off the 2.4 GHz frequency, but the 5 GHz is still active, and I can't afford to turn it off. Cheers
I've never experienced issues with my router interfering with the wireless signal. And my router sits right next to my PC and within about 2 feet of the wireless base station.
Hi there, I received my headset yesterday, and I love it! There's one thing concerning the base station that I can't figure out (although it seems quite simple:P). I plugged it into my Xbox Series X, and after the gaming session, I left it connected to the console. I set the auto-turnoff feature for the station after 10 minutes of inactivity. However, the station never turned off by itself. I had to unplug it manually. Should I unplug it from the device after every session, or is there a simpler way to handle this? P.S. I updated the device to the newest version through the GG application. Sorry for bothering you. I thought I could pose that question to you first before reaching out to the customer service team;d Cheers
I tried to love the Nova Pro Wireless but the audio just doesn't do it for me. I love the comfort & features, but a constant with SteelSeries is the bass lacks impact. The audio is a bit shouty also. Spatial audio is good, but there are better performers out there. I'm no fan of Turtle Beach, but the Stealth Pros are a better headset for gaming. I'm hopeful the Astro A50 Gen 5's can offer something special because I just prefer how Astro tune their drivers. Plus 50mm drivers do make a difference.
Amen. Drivers are underpowered. 50 mm Logitech is far superior. Dunno what this guy's on about ...considering that glaringly obvious issue ....and the fact he's hands on with all brands
same, I'm hoping to find some settings that help improve the audio for me. It's lacking to my ears (I'm no audiophile) as a normal user, who only wears a headset to play FPS games with which I need to hear footsteps. FPS settings can improve footsteps, etc. but then I don't hear the whole game ambience. I don't know what's wrong, it's just what I feel.

Owner from day one as well. I think the Maxwell is far better overall over sans ANC. The Maxwell get 3x louder, heavy bass impact, more immersive, more detailed. I think the Nova Pro wireless are more comfortable for long term use. I'm glad you enjoy the Nova's. I enjoy my pair as well. I just think there's no contest when it comes to the actual sound. The Maxwell win for me every time. edit: Sonar does add a lot to the Nova on the PC side of things. The software behind the Nova's is far better.
@@darrendavies1102 I think the Nova Pro have a narrow sound compared to the Maxwell. The Maxwell definitely have a larger sound stage and are better for positional sound. It's pretty close, but I would say the Maxwell. The Maxwell are more natural sounding. The Nova Pro sound very digital?... If you turn off ANC it helps. But the Nova's definitely have more processing going on in the background. The Maxwell (much like the Penrose) get so loud and in your face, you may need to lower the volume.. You really can't go wrong. If the Maxwell didn't exist. The Nova Pro would be my number #1.
Not at all, I’ve owned 3 pairs of Maxwells. The audio fidelity as a whole is amazing but Planar magnetic drivers are inherently not as great with driver matching compared to dynamic drivers. The imaging performance on the maxwells is not so great which makes them not as good for positional accuracy
What would make the upper-end Novas perfect for me would be an increased driver size to at least 50mm for bretter bass and less distortion; a tighter clamp force for less sound leakage and better fit; more space in the earcup between the driver and the back of the cup to eliminate that boxy, forward SQ; a better mic, and; bringing back the optical port on the Pro base so I can use it while watching tv. 👍🏻
How would you say it compares to the Logitech G Pro X2s that you reviewed a while ago in terms of soundstage, directional audio and sound quality for immersion in single player games?
The wired version CHANGED MY LIFE IN LESS THAN 1 WEEK (after my dumb butt finally figured out the software haha). VERY WORTH THE MONEY! GO WIRED IF YOU AREN'T A STREAMER/CONTENT CREATOR B/C THE MIC IS SLIGHTLY BETTER. I would have gone wireless but I don't stream so yeah.
after 6-7 years of just using my beyerdynamic and a modmic/boom mic, because I got tired of trash and horrible gaming headsets.. Well, I finally decided to buy a "gaming headset" and I went with the Nova Pro Wireless.. I truly loved the headset, it's comfortable (except for the leather pads being hot), looks good, good sound, decent enough mic that actually can be tuned to be pretty good.. especially using the pop-filter... HOWEVER!... I simply could not keep it, due to the false marketing, where they show that it works wired too... which technically it does, but they don't say that it "technically works wired".. because, I wanted to use it wired when doing competitive games to get that 10-40khz frequency and better microphone etc. etc.... HOWEVER, if used wired with the dac you get, the microphone doesn't work and that is honestly the same as the entire headset not working.. it's part of it. If only they sent the wireless version with the new gamedac 2... it would all work and be proper marketing, no issues. Such a weird thing not to change and outphase the old dac.
I have absolutely no idea what people are listening to with this headset..I bought it last Christmas and the drivers in the headset are extremely underwhelming. Distortion is never far away when it comes to the volume control. Had a set of Logitech g prior. A fraction of the price but superior in all aspects
Hands down the worst headset I’ve ever used…I’ve had nothing but problems…if it works I love them. The audio never connects when using pc. Even when the device is selected correctly in both software and windows.
Does the Xbox version work just as good on the PS5 as the PS5 version? I want to buy the Xbox version because it works with both consoles...but I don't know if there's any disadvantage.

I just bought the audeze maxwell and as far as sound it blows them both out the water but the BT funtions are better on the nova pro wireless. but those maxwells are amazing!
Hi,
Great video! Was wondering if they work with Apple TV? And if you have watched any movies with them?
Thanks
They should work through bluetooth. I do not know weather surround sound will work.
I just bought it today. Im just searching for a answer to a question i have. Should i click the backup battery out from the charger soon its fully charged or can i let it sit clicked in connceted to the charger?
You can let it in its way better for battery life
Thank you, great video!
I have been using Sennheiser HD 560S. I wonder how does it compare. Cheers!
The latest firmware doesn't turn off the DAC and the DAC is OLED. Fantastic Steelseries. Never again.
Mine on the latest firmware turns it off when the computer sleeps. TBH though I leave it on all the time since release and the screen is fine.
Mine sometimes get bug if i want turn on the headset it will turn off automatically, wireless and Bluetooth mode blink together that's why it will turn off.
So with the nova 7p when you shut off the headset you have to turn the Bluetooth off separately. It does not sit everything off at once. Does the pro work the same or does it shut off completely with one button?
Same unfortunately
@@TheProvokedPrawn well that sucks thank you though
Wicked cushions
here in AUS the maxwell and the nova pro wireless are the same price, which would you pick up if you are trying to get the best headphones for FPS shooters and footsteps? I play on PC and dont plan to use for anything else. I like call of duty, warzone and battlefield
Nova pro
Great video, are these worth upgrading from the Astro A50’s??? Thanks.
Yes they are ua-cam.com/video/9qCG1Uv2aBA/v-deo.html
For console, the TB Stealth Pro is a much better choice. Especially for footsteps. Their Treble Boost EQ is honestly unrivaled. For console.
@@SteelCitySniperYT i guess my ears are tuned for TB Audio then. lol!!!!!
Can you also charge the battery by plugging into the headset itself or only by putting the battery in the dock thingy?
You can plug the headset in as well if you wish. There's a connector under one of the speaker plates.
@@TheProvokedPrawn ok thank you!
Watching this with my nova pros
Are they worth it ?
That was an outstanding long-term review! Honestly, your voice is captivating! I've just hit the subscribe button:)
I ordered the headset online on Monday and anticipate its delivery tomorrow.
@TheProvokedPrawn gotcha- thanks for the response 👍
Hi there, I received my headset yesterday, and I love it!
There's one thing concerning the base station that I can't figure out (although it seems quite simple:P). I plugged it into my Xbox Series X, and after the gaming session, I left it connected to the console. I set the auto-turnoff feature for the station after 10 minutes of inactivity. However, the station never turned off by itself. I had to unplug it manually. Should I unplug it from the device after every session, or is there a simpler way to handle this?
P.S. I updated the device to the newest version through the GG application.
Sorry for bothering you. I thought I could pose that question to you first before reaching out to the customer service team;d
Cheers
Do you know if sonar works for console yet?
It doesn't but the latest FW has added a lot of EQ presets for different games onto the base station so you can use them.
The new nova 5x works with sonar and have all presets from pc and it works with sonar and even have a app for the phone
Dunno what this guy's on about ...considering that glaringly obvious issue ....and the fact he's hands on with all brands
where can you seen anything about a50 gen 5s?
same, I'm hoping to find some settings that help improve the audio for me. It's lacking to my ears (I'm no audiophile) as a normal user, who only wears a headset to play FPS games with which I need to hear footsteps. FPS settings can improve footsteps, etc. but then I don't hear the whole game ambience. I don't know what's wrong, it's just what I feel.
@@trangle4468 overhyped pc gear. I don't know why for sure but I feel that it's all down to how many and how long the tentacles are from the manufacturers these days when it comes to opinions of yt reviewers.
Was a complete waste of money for me. Double the price for a fraction of the enjoyment when compared to previous purchases.
@@cmcc3721 unfortunately I felt the the same - a waste of money. But it;s such a hassle to sell so I'm still holding on to it. Meanwhile, I would like it if I find some better settings for my ears.
I enjoy this headphones too 👍👍
Hey , can u pls aswer me a question pls? in transparency at lvl 10 with the nova do u also hear like white noise ¿?
Great video Prawn! I look forward to some more long term reviews on other things. I wish more people did this.
I also didn't know you could get sidetone using the DAC! But I enjoy the headset. Though I typically use other headsets more often
I'm trying to think what else I can do. It's not easy when you're testing lots of things and only have one pair of hands or ears 😂
@TheProvokedPrawn yeah i imagine that its difficult. Perhaps you could even do minor follow ups on products a few months after release. Like maybe some new things you learned or something 🤔 this is of course if you've had the time to use it i guess. Yeah its tough 😅
@@fallenlegion1828 Luckily I do have kids who can be guinea pigs
@@TheProvokedPrawn total power move right there 💪 👏 smart thinking!
Is the maxwell better for mw2 e.g footsteps thanks
@@anddo24 what a great response thank you for the info your amazing
Not at all, I’ve owned 3 pairs of Maxwells. The audio fidelity as a whole is amazing but Planar magnetic drivers are inherently not as great with driver matching compared to dynamic drivers. The imaging performance on the maxwells is not so great which makes them not as good for positional accuracy
Aren't the maxwells plagued with drivers dying and losing sound on one side? It's the only reason I'm not considering maxwell for my next headset.
Fingers crossed Steelseries does a white version of these. I've got the white Pro Wireless's that I've adored for so long.
Does the Xbox version work just as good on the PS5 as the PS5 version? I want to buy the Xbox version because it works with both consoles...but I don't know if there's any disadvantage.
they are the same thing but the xbox version is xbox certified, but ps5 version is usually better priced so get that
Hey my name is Nuno, can u pls aswer me a question pls? in transparency at lvl 10 with the nova do u also hear like white noise ¿?
