Thank you for not over thinking it and not making the video sound crazy
Yeah, the other day I stumbled upon a smn video guide that ran like 1 hour and 20 minutes or something like that.
Mike's videos always are spot on, both concise yet informative.
smaller cathedrals that snooker video is actually really nice. If it’s the one by a guy named Cole. I’ve watched the whole thing. You can go to each time stamp and get the most in depth analysis on Summoner in different situations.
I have to admit you made this sound so much easier than what my friend explained to me. thanks a bunch.
Supposedly this is one of the more difficult classes/jobs to get a grasp on the rotation. But this explanation made it very ez imo. With that being said, i main a AFF lock in WoW, so I enjoy maintaining multiple spells as it makes the combat(for casters)much more enjoyable and engaging.
All the guides I read made it seem super complicated but you broke it down so easily. I just boosted one on the pre-EW sale and I was struggling til I watched this. Thanks so much
I'm not sure if I'm stupid or something, but this is all going way over my head
lmao I literally came down to the comments to type the exact same thing.
@@LemonMan91 glad I'm not the only one. I'm actually starting to realize, all the jobs get way to complicated at some point. There really should be an in game tutorial or something.
This is definitely missing a visual guide and the explanation assumes a lot. Like the statement "we are starting in astral ice" but no explanation as to how that is then rolling into astral fire. I'm sure it will all start to make sense but a lot of info is missing for the layman just starting out trying to play the class correctly :)
@@santiagodraco exactly! 😯 Well I hope you can find some enjoyment in the game. I dropped it a little after writing that comment
@@santiagodraco I agree it could use some more visuals for a clearer picture but to make use of this you need the class at 80 already. If you got that far the basics surely are already there and you know what all the spells do and have worked out how to get into ice and fire phases and how these work. I mean, at that point you've played the class for 100 hours or so, getting the spells one by one along the way. I think it's reasonable to assume you know how the class works in broad terms, this is just getting into specifics. For a guide on how the skills interact with oneanother I recommend WeskAlber's leveling skills guide, it's great.
Ok. AS a BLM main I agree with like 98% of this video. The one thing is even with normal Spell Speed you can get out four fire IVs instead of 3. If you want to play the safe game, 3 of them is ok, but doing four fire IVs, then casting fire I makes it where you refresh your Astral Fire with 1 second left. Everything else makes perfect sense :)
A little bit confusing but really helpful still. The fact that you keep spells like triplecast aetherial manipulation etc out of it is really good. It's better to learn to keep the "simple" rotation up and then the rest will come easier.
BLM was the first class I played 2 years ago. I was really bad at it changed class and haven’t touch it since. Id like to try it again since I have a little more knowledge of game mechanics
BLM was the class for me that made me fall in love with FFXIV. Which came as a surprise, since I was used to much faster gameplay than even the highest apm roles in FFXIV. Then.. 'lo and behold the beauty that is BLM: not just the damage dealing explosion making maniac, but also a true tactician. You have good content Ilya.
Also - you scandinavian?
i'm from belgium ^^
0:57 facts, absolute facts!
The other day I tried my hand at playing summoner. Oh boy, ... OH BOY!
Quickly went back to black mage.
Summoner is great and simple to use :D
@@OrionLM ok I play summoner as my main. Summoner is simple in theory. In reality summoners optimal rotation is like 2 minutes long. It’s a good rotation and not too hard but you need to know when to use your buffs and when to use your ruin IV procs. Timing is everything to summoner optimally played. The basic theory is always keep your miasma and bios up, save your ruin IVs until your bahamut and Phoenix phases. During dreadwyrm and firebird trance spam ruin 3 until the last second then use deathflare at the last possible moment of dreadwyrm trance. When either of your trances end is when you summon bahamut or Phoenix and use a ether pact and their own enkindle moves. The reason you use ruin IV in your bahamut and Phoenix phases is it makes them use their skills whenever you cast a spell and ruin II is less damage. Still use ruin II if you run out of procs in your bahamut phase. Other than that make sure your using all your OGCDs. Energy drain, bane, tri disaster, fester and painflare. Also your egi assaults and enkindle. It sounds worse than it is and you will dominate any situation where you need to fight a lot of enemies at the same time. Use ifrit for focusing down single enemies and Garuda for AoEs. Bane is your best friend for multiple enemies and sometimes resets the DoTs you applied to the primary target. Again it sounds more complex than it is.
I learned a lot! thank you so much!
I started with BLM with realm then experimented with other casters then dps tanks healers.
I liked the mobility of other jobs but miss BLM. So i went back.
Then i found out that i die less when i’m in BLM.
Problem is with all the mobility of other jobs, i tend to do dodges with reflex. When i play BLM, i tend to learn the fight and optimize movement. Which at the end of the day makes me better at the fight. It’s kind of calming when you don’t panic running around the area. Only drawback is that it’s a pain when running a dungeon for the first time.
Sorry to be a pain I haven't played in months coming back to level 80 black mage can you put a list of the rotation I need in fights in easy terms I'm a bit thick sorry
this is kinda the standard rotation, now ofc this is just a guideline, sometimes you will change this a little bit here and there depending on procs and fights etc
ffxivrotations.com/2568
I have such a love hate relationship with BLM. I'm a new player coming from bard and dancer so BLM is challenging for me. I'm decent with it when practicing with a dummy but when it comes to dungeons, its a whole new game trying to be tactical since im used to just using action skills while moving. This challenge alone makes me want to try and master BLM.
that is where the real fun comes from imo, once you master the movement, the damage will follow :D
@@IlyaDalamiq agreed!!! Aside from movement, my issue is learning how to start casting again when my flow gets interrupted.
The challenge is why I love it i struggle but I'm getting better daily
so far playing Black mage and going to see what level 80 is like.... Is flare just completely useless later on. Like when you get Fire 4 you just NEVER use flare ever in any situation because it's terrible?
you use flare for aoe
Thank you for this
My pleasure!
See I do Sharpcast when the countdown of 15 seconds completely fades so I'm able to get another Sharpcast during the opener, otherwise the rotation is correct.
yea thats the double sharp opener, there's a few different ones but i decided to only show one of them ^^
@@IlyaDalamiq I do Laqi Thish's rotation, works really well for most fights, you have so many procs for movement that you never stop dps'ing.
btw this is still useful if you are levelling BLM extra quickly and need to catchup with some mechanics before reaching EW content
If you end the fire phase with despair how do you cast blizzard 3 to get into ice without using transpose? Great vid BTW 👌
when you unlock despair, you also get a trait that makes it so that casting fire3 and bliz3 cost no mana at full stacks of umbral ice/astral fire
@@IlyaDalamiq thanks man appreciate the wisdom 🙏
How much SS do you have? If you have about 1700 + you can use 4 Fire IVs before the first Fire I, though it does require some tight spell usage.
i got 2181 atm, but i'm planning on going for the full 3000+ sps XD
@@IlyaDalamiq very fast boi XD
You reckon this is less complicated then samurai?I tried doing eden promise savage eternity dummy and I've managed to get like a couple of kills in with 4 seconds spare but at my gearscore its below average and I just can't grasp such a fast gcd class. Would blm be simpler?its either that or I quit and I dont wanna quit.
blm is simpler in terms of it's rotation. but the restricted movement aspect is what makes blm hard to play in high end content. but try it out and see for yourself. maybe the movement aspect comes more natural to you then having to keep up with a more complex and fast rotation that sam might have.
@@IlyaDalamiq I will thanks for the response.
What's the materia priority for BLM?
at the moment the bis has a very high DH and SPS build, so get both of those i would say.
here's the BIS set: ffxiv.ariyala.com/19SIN
Can anyone enlighten me?
After the Opener you enter rotation phase. Do you just spam the rotation till the boss is down? Or you are gonna restart the Opener when all buffs are up again, and from there repeat the rotation?
there's allot of randomness to the blm rotation with your procs etc. so unless the boss was to go away for a while you just stick to the rotation.
how to keep enochain active all the time ?
all you have to do is not drop astral fire or umbral ice
@@IlyaDalamiq thanks
Transpose between fights, extremely short cooldown and you'll stay in Enoch
When is it (or is it) appropriate to use Flare in the higher levels (70+), or any levels at all (50-70)?
you would only use it for aoe, i don't know the exact amount of mobs you want but iirc it's something around 3-4+
@@IlyaDalamiq A buddy that got me into the game and he told me a general rule of thumb is AOE with 3 or more, any less you just pick a target and burst it and move on to the next
i really forgot about openers loool oof
I like your vid but I must have missed the section on AOE rotation?
aoe rotation is just using flare a lot. at 3 - 4 enemies (assuming you're in ice phase with 1 umbral heart) use fire 3 -> flare -> flare -> freeze -> thunder 4 or foul -> fire 3 -> flare -> flare -> repeat.
at +5 enemies it's the same except you skip casting fire 3 and just cast flare while in ice.
if you have swift, triple, manafont and an x-ether you can do fire 3 (triple) -> flare (swift) -> flare (manafont) -> flare (x-ether) -> flare
Nat hey do you mind helping me with aoe please Black mage
Like am I just only using flare?
14 minutes in ...
"Yep. So that's pretty much Black Mage."
When would we use umbral soul?
it's a tool for downtime
if you end a phase in fire, you can transpose -> spam some umbral souls to get 3 stacks of ice and get those umbral hearts, then you can thunder and immediately go fire phase again when the boss comes back (or for dungeons)
@@IlyaDalamiq ah ha thank you very much. I'm almost 80BLM and was confused on when to utilize umbral soul. I watch your vids all the time and appreciate your tutorials. Thanks for the quick reply
So basically just slam my head onto the keyboard and hope for the best?
Is this rotation the same for ps4?.
sure is
Wat is the name of the sorcerer build
i don't think it has a name
No AOE Rotation?
fire 3 -> spam flare -> freeze and apply thunder 4 during ice phase, use polyglot stacks on foul
Ok but i'm only level 28.
everyone says BM is easy to learn...i see the video and i´m like "no."
Well Black Mage is literally my first steps into any caster class in an MMO (Only played tank/melee DPS in WoW years ago) and ive made it through to level 50 as of today without too much issue
Is the rotation the same on controller? I play ps4..
yes? i don't see how you being on ps4/controller makes a difference
@@IlyaDalamiq I thought there was more skills on pc
@@ericblade1191 Both versions are EXCATLY the same, in EVERY gameplay aspect.
Only difference would be technical, like graphics, resolutions, framerate, etc.
@@ericblade1191 Lmao. I use two full hotbars for each of my classes and have a third for emotes and extra skills for all of those classes. Endwalker is about to make me get rid of my emote hotbar and that makes me big sad.
So uhhh just to be Clear *Wot is a Polyglot*
it's the purple diamond you get on your job gauge for every 30 seconds that you keep enochian active
@@IlyaDalamiq thank's man you're a legend
They need to make this a lot easier
They did. Come Endwalker, enochian will now forever be active.
... what?
What is your preferred spell speed? Please don't say "increase SS to a comfortable point" because that shit is beyond useless lmao
increase SPS to a comfortable point
in all seriousness, you legit want as much as you can get. think atm it's something around 3600
@@IlyaDalamiq woah, 3600!!!?? That's incredible. Are you a BLM main by chance? And do you do savage content?
Thank you so much for a reply
@@michaelmaddox2536 i don't main blm, but i've cleared all of this tier as well as alex ultimate on it. the videos are somewhere on the channel
@@IlyaDalamiq what is your game name if you dont mind me asking? I'm doing very extensive research!! Attempting to max my dps as much as humanly possible for me.
@@michaelmaddox2536 ilya dalamiq, but i'm really not the blm to look at to try and be the best out there XD
your feet will be soaking wet if you're job site has 3 to 5" of water wearing indestructibleshoes. he doesn't mention that, does he? they're not waterproof
wtf is fire one and fire four ect? can you call the abilities by their actual names please?
those are their actual names >_>

it depends on the language you play in
This is not a video. It's a webpage.
This is the shortest guide you'll find LOL
Sitting through a 14 min video is not necessary
