What is the Elder Blood? Witcher lore - Witcher Mythology - Witcher 3 Lore

- Today I decided to talk about the source of Ciri's powers. The elder blood. I'll go over all the lore surrounding the creation of this power, to it's passing from the elves to the humans. I will also explain one of the most confusing witcher plot points. That plot point is the story of Alvin and how some unknown child could possess a gift like the elder blood. I will also discuss Lara Doren and what happened at Dol Blathanna.
Spoilers in this vid
WitcherGeorge you have to say that in the beginning of your videos my man. I like to watch your vids and series', but what if some people look something up the first time they learn of it in game and happen to choose a video of yours? I.e. the elder blood, first heard of a short ways into the game, and the opening scene of this vid is the final battle. Another example is how you mention Vesimirs death in a couple different vids. Some people not very far in might not like that. Just a small criticism to help you grow you channel and keep your subs. I am one of them. Keep up the great work brother, and good luck on the path lol
WitcherGeorge Please create a video on bloody Falka
WitcherGeorge I hope the Witcher 4 will have 4 days of gameplay and is based around one of the witchers of The Third Witcher game. Wild Hunt was on of the best games I have ever played. It‘s still sad because of Vesemir, now I don‘t know if he‘s alive or dead because the Narrator, when you fast travel to one of the other country things, sounds like Vesemir and he said that Geralt and him still have had adventures
Yeah fuck you, say that shit before the video starts
Man read this a bit late 🙄 guess I know that vesimere dies now
rest in peace my boi vesemir, still hurts in 2018
Papie Ves :(
@Roland Deschain Well he was like 100 years old
@@andriusakinis3219 Geralt is like 90+ years old in the witcher 3
Kriegara do they ever say his age? I know vesimer said that he's nearly a century old but idk anything specific
Still hurts in 2019
Dear God... the lungs on that girl... goku could only wish.
I dunno man goku turning super sayian 3 went on for five 30 min episodes of straight screaming.
I dunno man, my 3 month old daughter could give Ciri a run for her money, just saying lol

I realize this is an old video with old comments, but wanted to add my two cents in here. I think it's fitting that Geralt defeated Eredin for 2 reasons.
***SPOILERS BELOW***
1. It's the ultimate boss fight and that is what Geralt was destined to be - Ciri's protector - so it makes sense Geralt eliminated the biggest threat to her life. Plus as the player playing the protagonist, it wouldn't be fulfilling any other way.
2. It was also Geralt's ultimate revenge in defeating Eredin. Not for Ciri's sake only, but his own as well.
At the end of the book saga, Ciri teleported a near death Geralt and Yennefer to the isle of Avalon to heal and recover safe from the dangers of their world. TW1 game takes place exactly 5 years later and in W2 prologue we get the story of what happened since that book's ending = the Wild Hunt found Geralt and Yennefer on the Isle of Avalon and they kidnapped Yen. Geralt, in a desperate attempt to save her, offered his life in exchange for Yen's. Eredin accepted and for the 5 years from the ending of the last book to the beginning of the W1 game, Geralt had become a Red Rider and a member of the Wild Hunt fulfilling his promise.
Those 5 yrs had to be torture for Geralt, for kidnapping Yennefer during their 'honeymoon' phase (i call it that - not that they were married, but the idea is there) and after that and all the trouble they provided in always chasing Ciri - It was a revenge of sorts when he killed Eredin making it thricely satisfying for him and the player. :)
RIP headphone users turn down volume immediately.
Thanks.
When i played through my volume was almost max for dialogue. But then i got the worst dose of fucking earrape, i had ringing in my ears for 5 minutes. Didn't make this mistake this time.
Damm thank u bro
I think I am deaf now from these screeches of hell itself
Alvin was a Source, not a child of the Elder Blood, a huge well of magical power. Contrary than how to mages draw power from the world, Alvin created it from himself. Ciri is a Source AND a child of the Elder Blood. All of the Elder Blood are Sources, as far as I know, but not all Sources are of the Elder Blood
Then why could he travel through time (and space?)? Not all the descendents of the line of Lara Dorren are known, it could be that Alvin is a distant relative to Ciri. Also Alvin believed that he could stop the white frost, but failed. Why would he think he could stop it? He knew that only Elder Blood could do it.
Nah Alvin is also a child of the Elder Blood. My theory is that he is a bastard grandson or great-grandson of Calanthe and through some rare mutation he was able to preserve that Elder Blood power even if he is a male.
Some males could be symptomatic carriers of the elder blood. So could have powers but not as strong as lets say Ciri.
that was a bad scream though :/ but i love the game, love Ciri and all
aha
Wait... so when the wild hunted wanted to take the elderblood... they meant... oh. Poor Ciri.
:(
@RandomNetizen Probably. I mean Ciri made a deal with the elves that she would give them a child and they would let her go home (she was basically blackmailed and they would probably never let her go but that's another story)This is interesting, because in the books, Vilgerfortz wanted to basically create himself a body via magic from Ciri's body - not sure if she would survive it, but it was supposed to give him the power of the elder blood. So it makes me wonder why the elves never thought about it
Here's an interesting Theory about the Elder blood. I've never heard anybody come up with a theory as to the origins of the Elder blood. Where did it come from how was it contained into flesh and blood.
We all know that magic comes from the world of gins. Without the conjunction of the Spheres the magic from the gins world would never be in any other world. At least that's how I've been able to understand it. And gins can summon Powers far beyond that of ancient Sages back when the enell and enchee were at the height of their power. Is it possible that a gin's power was somehow fused with an ancient elf. And that power becoming that elves lifeblood. And now that the gins power and the Flesh of the elf are fused it gives said elf some measure of control over the powers of the gin.
Maybe it could have been a wish.
Going something like this.
Gin I only have one wish and that is to have the same command over magic as you.
Good idea!
I always thought that Alvin was Ciri's son and as we know children of the elder blood can time travel I thought he went back in time to meet Geralt since he was so important to his (Alvin) mom and he probably grew up to stories of him and naturally wanted to meet him
Bioware Geek when Alvin is first seen in the Witcher 1 he is running from those ghost dogs with that woman who doesn’t make it to the settlement in time. Although it did not specify her relation it is assumed it was his mother. Since he gets adopted immediately afterward it is clear that was his guardian without dispute. I think I’m Alvin’s case as it pertains to the lore, he is an illegitimate child from someone else in the line who was also illegitimate which is why he is not recorded. Like the video says it was more than likely something CDProjekt Red just didn’t think completely through this seems to be the only lore friendly explanation to Alvin.
Best game I've ever played. Such an emotional ride. Almost leaves you questioning the way you live life.
Your channel needs a witcher walkthrough. Given the extended knowledge you have on the subject, it would be a delight for witcher fans. Of course, we would not accept anything less then all quests and side quests done and death march difficulty :D
I'm currently finishing a death march, griffin playthrough haha, I will definitely consider that, as it may be a fun idea for livestreams and a great way to interact with you guys.
If you decide to do that, let us know. And of course, we need your Twitch, assuming you'll do livestream there.
ramino .nelu
This lad. 😂
If you think emhyr is a bad father remember Auberon told the sages to mutate his dugther because why not.
You're wearing the armor pieces I've been using! Honestly started playing not to long ago and found most of the armor in the cave with Kiera
6:58 Geralt gave Alvin a Dimeritium Amulent to help control his powers and you can end up finding the amulet on Jacques de Aldersberg’s corpse at the end of the game.
Might want to work on that elven pronunciation mate; might offend an elf someday.
Geralt has the highiest form of transportation. He can savescum. He can fast travel. He can shave his head and regrow all the hair on a whim for 5 crowns. He can full romance one witch, rewind and romance the other. Geral is the best.
6:20 Geralt wearing bitch mittens
6:15*
Knights actually did wear those back in the day but God they will never not look stupid.
Enlighten us more on Dol Blethana. I only 'fell in love' with The Witcher 3, it took forever to get to Australia!
Can you do a bi of a run down on each isle in Skellige?
Didnt now that thing about Bol Blathanna and Lara Doren
Cool stuff man, I appreciate all the knowledge and even ideas and thoughts to ponder about the Elder Blood. Must be very powerful to control this power and travel through time.
I've never played the Witcher. But I plan on playing it some day. haha
you should definitely try some day
Honestly, playthroughs do it no justice, when I watched it I thought it was okay but never GREAT then when I played it, it actually blew my mind with how great it was and quickly became my favourite game.
NET Alliance - Star Wars Fun GET AWAY FROM SPOILER MATERIAL MY DUDE
Can Inci obviously you care if your dumb ass commented on it lmao
If you still haven't played it you're seriously missing out on something truly magical
Just discovered the channel, loving the videos George
Thank you mate
another great vid man, w/ the exception of Yen Ciri is my fav character, id love to see a future w/ Ciri( maybe TW4?, wishful thinking)
I suppose it's difficult because of the multiple endings, but we can only trust that cprjectred will find away to bring this franchise back. One of my favourite characters is Eskel haha
another reason too is Ciri is SO OP its unfair to the baddies in game
Jason Walker yeah haha, playing as ciri feels like enabling god mode.
WitcherGeorge They could wind up going back to the founding of the Witchers. Maybe our character becomes one of the first Witchers and helps to create the School of the Wolf while the Northern Realms are reeling from some crisis. Hopefully we’d be able to actually create the character too (:
Great video. Happy to have found the channel, you deserve more views.
thank you mate
These are really good videos. A decent script is the only thing I can say that would improve them. There's alot of "you know what I mean" and "ummm". Aswell as other things that detract from you knowledge and delivery all of which is very good. Like I said good videos overall.
Control space and time.... Gaunter O Dim? probably not but would be cool if he was a rogue user. Could have been an old mage who found a way to give themselves it and because they mastered magic he can control the powers well. Very entertaining video, keep it up 😊.
That guy is not a physical being, he is beyond explanation and he is manifestation of something evil according to humans. Remember he is man of mirror so his behavior is always a reflection of the person who makes the pact with him the agreement also reflects this. He is the best villain ever, far better than Eradin.
No. Gaunter O'dimm is definitely not a human with Elder Blood. He is something way scarier and more powerful. My theory is that he is literally the manifestation of all evil that is in the multiverse.
Alvin could be a totally seperate thing as well. He may have just been from some other, lesser magical line.
Alvin could just be spontaneously born with elder blood. Genetic mutation is a thing
Damnit George, once again another great video
Thank you man!
Do one about the other worlds you visit with avallach
Another informal video I'm enjoying the witcher content very much thanks for the upload.
thanks mate
Ciri describing that world she was in for half a year or whatever....was earth 😂😂😂😂
Our little Alvin (kinda felt like he was my son) grows up to became a psychopath named
Jaqces de... Sth... Anyway he is the grandmaster of the gaming rose... He is he last boss fight of the wither 1.....and geralt killed him with a silver sword.... I was half expecting him to say sth like "father no!"
🥺
The song ❤️
Wait so amavet and fionna are sisters but but amavets granddaughter and fionas grandson have a baby which is calanthe. So does that mean there is a little bit of incest going on ?
Intros too long I had to hunt around for the actual beginning of the video here :/
Ah sorry about that, on some of my older videos I tried to make them a bit more personal and a lot of people echoed your point here. I have tried to improve in the later ones!
i love this story but omg i feel so bad for ciri
Do I think the home-world of the humans, that was destroyed by them, is ours?
I love that idea but I don't know. My pessimism wants to say yes though.
Can u talk about Regis from blood and wine
Sure man! Good idea.
What about the curse of the black sun?
Good suggestion!
Love the content
The story that we agreed to tell each other over and over till we forget that it's a LIE.
The only thing more painful that Vesmimir's death is watching 30fps low detail gameplay ;(
Imagine if Ciri met Jack the arch-nephilim from supernatural. That’d be a powerful duo.
Can anyone tell me the name of that song playing at the end?
ua-cam.com/video/vHqCFIE2M7Y/v-deo.html There you go mate, enjoy
Thank you so much :D Great video you made, btw!
there are genetic characteristics that may come back in future/ so if im not mistaken devs didnt fuck up at all
Nice point!
Its blood that is elder.
Some of these cut-scenes have to be from console lol
it's ssj
Scream that can make your ears bleed
who give the power called elder blood to the 1st elder blood Lara dorren, im bit confused about this.
Im sure people had it before her but she is probley the first they know about
Vesemir when Ciri started screaming : you stupid child. If i knew you could done that. I would have played dead from the start
Why do you sound like Blacks Ops Amazing?
Intro is a bit too long
GWENT THE WICHER CARD :P
Ciri was talking about cyberpunk world in this scene may be we see her in it
Yup!
I’ve heard of an Elder scrolls but not Elder blood
Fus roh da
What if the "elder" blood is connected to the unseen "elder" too???🤔 unseen elder can also teleport and stuff!!!
He can teleport because he is one of the oldest and most powerful vampires and creatures and he is even older than the elder blood and has nothing to do with elder blood and he can only teleport at short distances and you as i can see are one of the new fans so inform a little bit
@@Мандолатор thanks for the info!😃
He's actually not teleporting he's just moving really fast.
It's HIV/AIDS.
Oh
5:00 wait... is that a bioshock infinite reference?
A man chooses...a slave obeys.
There are theories that Ciri was talking about the Cyberpunk world. And CDPR might actually show Ciri somewhere in Cyberpunk 2077. That would be rad. Can't wait.
Your intro scene was just way too long. You didn't need to show the entire cut scene.
It's why you make great content but a lot less subscribers that you should have.
You're convoluted, long intros are a bit much. Need to skip 2 mins of a 9 and a half min video to actually watch the video.
Come on man, that's just dumb. Lol
0:40 cringest moment in the game typical main character experiences a loss then screams and unleashes their full power which up until that point they haven’t had control over. Game would’ve been 10 times better without that scene
You can't control that. If you'd read the books, you'd know that her mother also did this. For them it's like epilepsy attack. So Ciri didn't do this on purpose. Emotional trauma triggered it and it overwhelmed her. In this state she would kill Yen, Triss, Geralt and everyone else in Kaer Mohren, if she wasn't stopped.
I thought it was fairly obvious she was not in control at all, and was basically just freaking out. Also after the battle there is dialogue that confirms this. I doubt you’ll find anyone to agree with you that it was a “cringy” moment.
I agree. The use of the white frost and Elder blood in the games is the one change i hated from the original source material.
The intended idea of the white frost in the books is that its a gradual form of climate change, not some mass cataclysm like it's depicted in the games.
The reason as to why Ciri's bloodline is the "solution" to the frost in the books is because its intended purpose is to teleport people through space time. The elder blood could be used to transport people from their dying world into a new one....thats it.
It ISNT because the elder blood specially made/engineered to fight the white frost in a boss battle like in Witcher 3. That seriously makes no sense. Like what did Ciri do off screen when she took to portal to the "heart" of the frost? Yell at it for a bit? So dumb.
Last time i checked this is the witcher not dragon ball z
