Beautiful build, and a great review! I picked one of these up at WalMart for $20. I'm amazed at the fit of parts of your sample. Not needing to fill/sand will be a real blessing for my limited hobby hours!
Fantastic build up review, I was going to do this same thing but you nailed it! Jamie from Round2 shared your video in our Space 1999 Props & Ships Facebook group. I'll be watching more of your videos in the future.
Thanks man! This is my first Space 1999 ship. But I like to build all kinds of stuff from cars to ships to figures, dioramas, etc. I found the group and requested to join today.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was made into a larger scale later. But Round2 in their latest YT video said people have been asking for more shelf and wallet friendly scales for the 1999 models.
Hello! What are you using for your final clear coat on this model? I couldn't quite understand what it was called. Thanks! Very nice build BTW. I've got one of these waiting on-deck after I get my 22" Eagle Transporter finished.
I never saw this show, it seemed more drama than action to my child mind, when compared to Star Trek. Beautiful model Chris! The flat coat at the end finished it perfectly. The decal detail turns this into a slick studio model. I might need to check out show just based on some of the realism brought from the US space program of the 60's into the model. The current space program will fall under Air Force instead of Navy, I am not sure if the "she" will continue. :-(
Another great review. I have been binge watching your videos trying to catch up. I’m amazed at how fast you can build. In several if not all you talk about your “parts washer”. What is it? I soak mine in a plastic tube of warm water and Dawn overnight.
I can't say yes for sure as the sheet doesn't say Cartograf, but the decal sheet does say "Decals made in Italy" with the other disclaimers and rights info. So I'm guessing they are.
When you hand paint with the ceramcoat, how many applications did it take and do you mix the paint with anything? It looks airbrushed. I have never had much success with craft paints.
I brush once, and then I leave it alone aside from touchups. No thinning or mixing. I use a simple sable brush from Tower Hobbies. The more you apply, the bigger the glops and strokes get. It settles nicely on it's own if left alone. Thanks for the nice words! :)
Autoworldstore.com is the best place to buy from since they are part of Round2. This was a preview sample sent to me by MPC for review. It will be available this month.
I can only go by the picture and quote from the director on the box saying he designed it in sketches first. I don't know the full history of Space:1999 so I'll leave that to the people that dig into it to hash it out on the internet and say someone on the box is wrong, etc. Like the George Barris and Tom Daniel who designed what argument still going on today.
Fair enough sir. You are just reading the box. Strange they would say that. For the record Brian Johnson designed The Eagle, but ALL other spacecraft were designed by and built by Martin Bower. This includes The Altares from "The Day After Tomorrow"
Actually, it was Brian Johnson who did the original design, Bower enhanced on it and then built the 2 studio models. 'Space Models' also produced some of the original studio spacecraft.
In Round2s latest video they said they've had lots of requests for smaller ships than 1/48 scale. 1/72 scale aircraft and space ships are one of the biggest sellers on the market for that genre. 1/72 armor, no, those don't sell nearly as well as 1/35.
A Space 1999 kit on Star Wars Day. Well played, Chris. Well played...
"May the Force Live Long and Prosper" - Gandalf
Outstanding!
Fantastic build and review. Love these Space 1999 model kits from Round2. Thanks for posting the orange paint you used.
Thanks for the nice words Richard!
Nice job, Chris. The orange looks spot on - great job doing it by hand - I can never seem to do justice with hand painting...
Thank you! I do spray and airbrush but also really enjoy going old school with brushes when I can get away with it.
I really wasn’t interested in this kit until watching your build up. I would like it in 1/48 though to match my Eagles.
Patience will prevail David. :-)
Todd Morton hoping. Although the problem with Hawks are the landing gear.
Thanks David! Glad you liked it.
Beautiful build Chris! Will go nicely and smoothly into the stash!! Thanks for a great build review!!
Thanks Kenny!

Enjoy your kit!
AcroRay are you getting these at a physical store or Walmart online? None of the stores in 50 miles of my home have a model section anymore!
I'm usually not a fan of acrylics, but you did a great job!
Just starting work on mine.
Thanks! They work very well and save lots of money.

Man that looks cool. i can't wait to get one. Ive had this on pre-order for some time now
Thanks Dirk!
The Hawk is a great looking ship and this model is awesome!
I agree!
Excellent work, looks fantastic. You've definitely made me buy this kit now !
Thank you! And thanks for watching!
I bought 4 to 5 Eagles, and I messed them All Up, but I still loved them
wow.. great build and review.. thanks for sharing.. enjoyed it again.. thumbs up👍😊
Thanks Nick!
Awesome work Chris. Looks great.
Thanks, I enjoyed it!
The only thing about this I don't like much is the scale, lovely looking kit that needs to be bigger
I wouldn't be surprised if it was made into a larger scale later. But Round2 in their latest YT video said people have been asking for more shelf and wallet friendly scales for the 1999 models.
This is incredible. Best work yet.
Thanks!
excellent stills at the end really show it of beautifully brother, as always a damn good job....
Much appreciated Drew!
Great review and build Chris!
Thanks Dan!

Yup, just a dollar store wash bin and some Jungle Jim (generic Simple Green) with warm water. Scrub with an old electric toothbrush and rinse off.
Great, inexpensive kit. Very well detailed too.
Yes, I know very little of Space 1999 but his kit was fun for any sci fi or spacecraft fan like me.
Looks amazing as always 👍🏻
Thanks Brian!
Great build
Thanks!
Duplicolor Paints and primers ROCK...
I had this kit in the 1980s by airfix, it's cool kit.
This is a new one, not the repopped one. :)
The airfix kit was real good but this one knocks the spots off it.
Nice build great work a always
Thank you :)
beautiful as always sir
Thanks Rik!
OMG my HAWK is back!!!
That looks great!
Thanks!
I kindof like the engine mount point but it seems unstable like that.
Are those Cartograf decals? And thanks for the great review - what a beautiful kit!

very informative video...thanks !
Thanks for watching!
영화에 나온 우주선은 본적없지만,
이런 함선은 한국에서는 레어템인데..
부럽네요
Great job....
Thank you William!
When you brush paint with acrylic paint for you dilute it and what with
Most of the time I use it right from the bottle. Light coats and let it settle on it's own. Usually I don't have any issues.
Where do you get these models? I'd like to use these for Warhammer 40,000

Thanks very much, but can I get 1/35 scale Eagle/Hawk spacecraft, or do I need a 3D Printer to resize the sprues?
Biggest I know of from Round2 is 1/48.
So ! where did you get this kit ?
Links are always in the description as stated in the videos. Thanks for watching!
Brian Johnson didn't design it Martin Bower did

Thanks for the update. But you mean Brian Woodcock right?
Nobody has wanted 1/72 model kits since the 70's. Terrible. No wonder the hobby is barley hanging on.
