  • Most table saw mobile bases suck. Or so I thought until I did some googling and found some pretty cool DIY builds out there. So I thought I'd try to build one myself...

I was happy to see that not only did the saw and base survive but the marriage also survived 😅 PIVOT! Pivottt!

Yeah. For a second I didn't know which one had a better chance of surviving. 🤣 Definitely had a little bit of "moving" Jason show up.

🤣 Thanks Craig! I tried. I think my drill could use a little work but the impact...flawless. 🤣

@@JasonGrissom impact was spot on. Sounded just like a crappy dewalt 😂 team Green!!!

It's funny you mention that. I use to think thats just how they all sounded until I used the Milwaukees at work and realized it was just my DeWalt. 😂 I will say when I hot my new DeWalt impact it sounds much better than my 9 year old one. Tell you what though...9 years old vs 4 months old. It still gets it done. Team Black and Yellow. (Unless team green is Festool, then screw team black and yellow 🤣🤣)

Love those casters i have em on my mobile tablesaw/outfeed/assembly table

Nice! Yeah I have another 2 boxes. Glad to hear you like em' cause the plan is to put them on my outfeed/assembly table as well. Again not AS much for moving but also leveling.

Thanks man! A little more work to do here and there but it's a night and day difference. Feels so good to be out there now. Almost like a proper wood shop. 😂

Thanks Tom! It really is right? I just figured I really only wanted to do it once. Getting the table saw on the base was...not easy. So 1 time is enough for me.

@@JasonGrissom For sure! Perfect quick flash where if you know you know, and if you don't it doesn't get in the way.
I imagine weekend woodworkers with backgrounds in software or hardware engineering are not super rare on YT so I'm sure I'm not the only one!

Oh yeah! You're probably right about that. A lot of the skills are transferrable into woodworking. I was an E & I technician for a few years and have been a Controls system guy for the last 4ish years. I find the critical thinking and problem solbing skills you learn on the job really help in the shop at times.

Hi Jason, I really like your channel, although the number of videos is small, each installment is interesting and useful! I am wondering if you'd like to review our 3x360° green laser level or show it in one of your project videos. If you have some point of interest or have any questions, please let me know how I can reach you. Hope to hear from you, thanks!😀

Why didn't you take apart the saw and assemble on the base? My skin was crawling when it was on it's end, but the build is great and I'm tempted to do it for my delta now. Also, I love it when guys post their mistakes, it makes me feel normal. Oh, the sound effects are so money man, you don't even know it.

    • @JasonGrissom
      @JasonGrissom  2 місяці тому

I didn't do it that way on account of my lower than average IQ. 😂 That said the base has been working out well. Only thing I've considered implementing would be adjustable legs on the extension wing side.

Overkill? No such thing. No overbuilt frame ever failed, at least when compared to an underbuilt frame - particularly when supporting the weight of a heavy shop tool. Overbuild on!

Good point! In the end I'm happy with what I did because I still was lacking confidence when I was flipping it over with the Table Saw, I can't imagine how'd I been if I didn't add the extra supports. 😬

😂 I've never put it on a scale but the internet puts it somewhere in the 400-500 pounds range.
