Thanks so much. As St Andrews was my mother's home town I was privileged to spend many holidays there with her sisters. In the 20's - 30's my grandfather owned a hotel there. In fact as far back as the early 1800's all my maternal line were born in St Andrews. I fell in love with the place, even playing golf there. But to be honest it's better to visit when there are no competitions on.
Love St Andrews. Honeymooned there many many years ago and keep coming back. In fact was there about 2 weeks ago just for the day Lovely atmosphere and feels very safe.
Hi thank you for taking us along with you to this beautiful coastal town It’s a shame about all the construction work. Great video. All the best Chelsea and Mike
I'm with you. A scone (as in ..oh..) doesn't need cream; jam and butter (or margarine) is all that's required. Thanks for sharing a lovely stroll round St. Andrews.
It’s a similar situation in the South East of England: people from the north look in the windows of estate agents and laugh at the silly prices. For one house in Beaconsfield or Windsor you could buy a small street in somewhere like Stoke-on-Trent…
It's because it's posh😮. It's also relatively easy to get to Dundee so people c0mmute. . Prince William and Kate went to the University. I'm not all that keen on the town but the beach is bonny. There has to be a lot of wealthy commuters and escapees from London, Glasgow and Edinburgh there.
Having been to St Andrews several occasions and at different times of the year, my view is that the number of visitors in July and August (including me!) make the town close to unbearable and hence I would never live there. Also, any town or small city dominated by a university creates an untypical population that makes you feel a bit of an outsider if you work somewhere else or are retired. So, as you may have gathered, I would never live in St Andrews. However, I can see why North Berwick is popular and thus house prices might be so high. It has a reasonably decent rail connection to Edinburgh, although I suppose there are a limited number of times you can climb North Berwick Law, visit Tantallon Castle or go to the Scottish Seabird Centre (or maybe Bass Rock) before the novelty wears off.
Agreed-St Andrews and North Berwick are indeed quite different in terms of their population. Both towns have so many visitors during summer (including Iain and I). But in North Berwick, you can always hop on a train to Edinburgh which makes it more appealing to me as well
Excellent and interesting video. 👍
Thank you😊

Yea, the difference in house prices is crazy😲

His liver salts are also the most expensive too, must be his knighthood
Must be 😃
GULLANE is more expensive because it has much more palatial houses than St Andrews-
That's interesting, we'll need to go to Gullane.
Why did you have to keep repeating the fact that St Andrews is the most expensive coastal town in Scotland, you must think the viewers are idiots.
It's to remind myself🤣
Relax Ian lol. Why are you taking it all so seriously
well she wasnt far wrong where you are concerned - and rude into the bargain
