Remember it is important, no matter how much you admire the person you are listening to, to read the Bible for yourself. For example, compare Charles Stanley’s eternal security doctrine with what Jesus said. Christ Jesus should be the go-to for all of us, and not reading the Bible for ourselves is the very best way to end up following a false doctrine. God bless!
@@WholeBibleBelieverWoman please don't assume things about me. I never said that I don't read the Bible. I read and study my Bible faithfully and pray for Gods will daily. Charles Stanley just helped me to dig deeper into Gods word. I have known the Lord as my personal Saviour since I was 5 years old and seek and trust God for everything in my life. God has preserved me through many trials. He has also blessed me and I never forget to thank Him!!!!
The Lord calls those He needs. He takes our life experiences and uses them for His glory, if we allow Him to. He takes the broken and builds something beautiful out of it, at least that is so in my life. I am 64 years old next week and still amazed at all the blessings I've been granted. I sure have never "deserved" those blessings. In fact, I've earned quite the opposite. Your wife and girls walked into your life when you needed them most and you walked into theirs when they most needed you. That is amazing. May God bless you and yours mightily.
lovely story ...thank you CJ for sharing ! I had a healthy, Christian husband, he passed young of brain cancer (two years ago). I pray that God blesses me again one day with a nice Christian guy. * I love your animals :-)
Hannah Wetzstein, take it from someone that never had a father in their life, If I could go back in time and have a father to ground me he’d look at me weird like why’s this child smiling. I’d be smiling because I have a father who cares for me, who wants me to be a great adult to follow through with the rules that the world is full of. I didn’t have to follow instructions, so I had a hard time as an adult with jobs. I didn’t get taught that there’s consequences for my actions. That’s part of the reasons there’s so many homeless and people in prison, no one cared to show them tough love enough to expect anything from them as children. And believe me it is tough love for a parent to have to ground a child, it’s not just hard on the child. Not only did I grow up without a father, my two boys did too, to had a father in their life would’ve been easier for everybody. One time they weren’t minding while visiting my sisters home. It was out in the country, so I drove them down to the corner to correct them without others around, respect for the boys sake. I told them that they had a choice, a whopping or two weeks of military treatment(push ups, running, etc.) and i suggested that they take the whopping to get it over with. One looks at the other and says, I think she just wants to beat us(funny to them now, but not then) I as a single parent had to absolutely do my best to make them great men for their own sake, if anything happened to me they only had themselves in older years. Back to their choice, they chose military treatment but wished they’d took my suggestion to just get it over with. With their punishment, I had to show them that everyone has rules to follow, even adults especially. So, I asked them “Tell me one thing that you don’t have to follow rules on,” the oldest said,”take a girl out on a date,” (they were both close in age and we’re starting to take interest in girls). I answered them, “No” and explained. In order to take a girl on a date you have to have money, a job has rules. You have to have a vehicle, government has rules of the road to drive her to the movies. The movie theater has rules within, ticket, conduct, etc. Her parents have rules for you, your destination, your conduct, your time to have her home, etc. Your date has rules, she expects you to respect her, etc. Home, public, schools, churches, roads, a Doctors office....the world is full of rules. If we didn’t have rules, the world would be in shambles. So hun, it’s hard for you to understand now maybe but it’s because he loves & cares for you....or he would pay you no mind and just let you break rules not caring if you had a hard time as an adult. Love & best wishes, Connie
@Hannah One day when you're grown, you'll look back and appreciate that "tough love". It's installing responsibility and work ethics, two important qualities too have. Also teaching you that not doing what's expected, comes with consequences. Do your chores with an earnest heart, it will make your life easier and also that of your parents. @Amish Potato I too am raising two teenagers. It's no small task teaching children these days value. I enjoy your video's. Please keep sharing your story.

I hope you don't get grounded anymore.👍😊👍 I needed to do my chores without being told or reminded by age 7ish. That included identifying myself when the acreage needed to be mowed and doing it Before being told!! And oh girl, if I failed to check oil & refuel tractor or my motorcycle before every start.....Oh yep, I was Grounded, which usually included more chores..LOL🤣
Oh my goodness! Raising girls and being there Dad will never end and when they come adult's they will need you more for helping them with there home and being there for them Believe me my 2 girl's are in there 30s and 40s and I am still there for them. They live in Hawaii and I live in Ohio. Thank you for the video showing awesome video showing.
Sounds like you have a beautiful family. I stumbled onto your channel and became fascinated with your story. May God be with you on your journey! Thanks for sharing.
Reminds me of my husband, he is a big man 6"4, and is larger than life, but is actually really insecure, especially infront of people in a formal setting. So i was nervous about our wedding, so was he, although he hid it well! But our wedding service was at our registration office, and it was beautiful, just our families, and 2 good friends. We got to have our music, I walked down the aisle to Silver Lining by First Aid Kit, we had a John Martin song Over the Hill, a Creedance Clearwater Rivival song and we walked out as a married couple to Elvis, Promised land! I loved it!
What you said about God appointing that pastor to give the message he did so that your ears could hear, that, and things like that are always "God incidents", NOT coincidences. Things that happen in our lives are part of God's divine timing, which is always perfect. Those who have the "eyes to see" and "ears to hear" and are hungering for the truth will see His hand clearly at work.
I recently found your channel about a month ago. Last night I was watching the video about why you left the Amish. I live in St. George, Utah and I go to a Community Church. When we first moved here, we had a lot of people trying to convert us to the LDS church. I use to live in Indiana close to Nappanee and Goshen when I was younger. Our family left Indiana when I was 10. That was about 1973 or 1974. When I go back to Indiana, I've always go back to the places I remember from years ago. When my husband and daughters went there, we made it a point to go to Amish and Mennonite restaurant's. One of the restaurants we go to is a place called the Blue Gate in Shipshewana. The video I watched last night about why you left the Amish community gave me a sense of peace. I've always been a person of faith. I've also told so many people that in my opinion the Amish community was the closest faith that is the one true church and faith. After I watched the video that you done a year ago has changed what I was thinking. I've been struggling so much for around 2-3 years now, that I don't think that anymore after watching the video last night, I don't think that anymore. My health has been very bad over the years. There's times that I've been in the hospital for months. There's been countless times when I don't know what directions I need to go. I do want to say more about things I've been dealing with. But, I will do that tommorrow when I'm awake. I'll finish this comment another time instead of now.
I just stumbled upon your page and watched this video. God is awesome and I believe he directed me here for a reason. Looking forward to hearing more of your story. 🙏
you have and give an abundance of love , everything about this video is amazing. The spirituality of gardening, the serenity of it, seems to be a core value in those who share Amish heritage . I’m Korean and we share that same value!
Beautiful family it sounds. I think being at two different ends of the spectrum can be a good thing as long as both are willing and able to learn from each other. That makes life interesting. Good luck with all your endeavors.
Thanks for being transparent. Since I have been listening to your videos I look at the name of your channel I always think of the song that says "I can Mash Potato" , which is a dance. Sorry, it just happens. Really enjoy your story.
It is.interesting how you still enjoy some of the qualities you learned as Amish. The enduring way you spoke of your wife as you watched her in the garden and the things she does. I would say - it is the things of your childhood that come forward. Remembering maybe your mother tending to her garden, etc. We cannot erase our past. We can accept it and embrace the good it was. Listening to your videos has shared an insight. I spent many summers in the Lancaster, PA area and you answered some questions I always had. Enjoy your family.
Hello!! I subscribed to your channel looks like about year & half ago?? I was born in Elkhart IN I currently live in Southern Mississippi anywho just a SHOUT OUT to you & your Family!!! Must add I’ve met several many AMISH in my day, very PROUD of my history knowing & working with the Amish!! I actually dated an x Amish fella I loved when he spoke Dutch!! Anyways I’m ranting on!! I enjoy your channel!!
So happy for you! I know your heart is heavy about your parents but just know this was the best decision for you. Its ok to be happy and live life to fulfillment. Best wishes.
If you want to go an thank the Pastor that performed your cousin's wedding -- you probably thought of this already but -- if you are still in contact with your cousin (I know how it is when we grow up and get busy with our own lives we sometimes lose touch) .....if she doesn't remember.... his name should be on the marriage certificate... I am sure (if you are able) he would appreciate your note :-) Or, if you remember the name of the church, contact them :-)
@@theamishpotato and I thought of this later - If you contact the church -- they may not want to give you contact info for security reasons but -- you can ask if you can write the letter, send it to them and ask them to forward :-) My brother is a pastor and I am sure he would enjoy receiving a letter like yours. In fact, I do recall someone getting in contact with him many years later :-)
The best marriage advice I’ve ever been given is, “When there are problems, you don’t want to rebuild, you just want to remodel.” 🤣 That’s how you stay together!
Life is made of pieces, all sorts,. I know you left the Amish, but I believe one thing you brought with you is a firm belief in family unity. It takes a lot of time to raise a family, and I do not envy your task in this day and age. Those girls are beautiful and all too soon they will be bringing home someone for your approval. Good Luck :)
Hi, I just found your videos and started following them. I have read so many Amish (romance) books and find them to be very interesting. Numerous years ago, I got to meet some of my neighbors, who I found quite different. The women wore beautiful dresses and a small black Kapp on their heads. I had to ask a friend of mine , "who are these people"? She explained that they were Mennonites. Now THAT was a word that I had never heard, but I was curious, so I started shopping at the little health food store that 1 of the family's owned. I learned right off that these people were wonderful! So, slowly, I started getting closer and closer and before I knew it, I was invited to come to church. Several friends (men, actually) thought that they should "prepare" me, so they described what to expect- men on 1 side, women on the other. NO jewelry, wear a dress, if possible. Well, the 1 thing that I wasn't given any advance warning of was--- ALL THE WOMEN HAD THEIR HAIR PULLED UP UNDER THESE SMALL BLACK KAPS. That was rather shocking, but once the shock was gone, it was explained to me, I understood and eventually, I also wore a " head covering". I attended this Mennonite church for the rest of the time that I lived in AZ, until I became a widow, my health worsened, and living way out there by myself , wasn't very safe. My Daughter insisted that I move back East and live with her and her new husband. She made it sound wonderful, but I sure had a hard time at the thought of leaving my "family ", who I felt these people were!. They were WONDERFUL, like no other people that I'd ever known. I had decided that I wanted to "convert" and I longed for the day that I would. I felt the calling inside of me. The day came when I had to let all of my "critters" (horses, donkey, goats, geese, ducks and chickens) go to their NEW homes, and I didn't think I would live thru that. But then the last day of church with my Mennonite family came and THAT was even harder. It still is!!! I miss them ALL, but certain ones that I was closer to, even more. They miss me also and we frequently talk, message one another, etc. I haven't made any friends out here, and I think it's because I know that i just won't find anyone as real or special as my Mennonite Sisters. So I'm mostly alone and that's ok, I've gotten used to it. I don't need to be used, abused and hurt anymore, and I know that's exactly what'll happen. GOD has my life 🙏 in His Big, Loving hands and HE will guide it to where I am supposed to be. Thank you for your interesting videos, I can relate to so many of the things that you mention. 🙂 THANK YOU and GOD BLESS you and your family.
Mike Winger on UA-cam-Thanks CJ for your insight. I thought you might like Mike's excellant teaching and apologetics discussions. He was a pastor in Calvary California for 20 years. He does the best explanations of various Christian doctrines of anyone I've ever heard. And he's very fair in his treatment of people that he disagrees with. He handles the prickly predestination subject better than anyone I've ever heard. I'm an old man, but the effort to rightly divide the word of truth is something we all are required to do so we can be better carriers of the gospel of grace through faith in Jesus Christ or Lord. I am fascinated by the Amish stories. Can't find the exact quote in the Bible, but its seems to apply to the Amish (and many others). ""By your traditions you have made the gospel (of Christ) to naught effect". This problem is at the heart of whether salvation is truly "...by grace through faith and that not of yourselves for it is gift from God". Hope I quoted that about right.
I’m curious how your parents feel about your new family and if you remain in contact. I loved hearing your testimony and was blessed to hear how God lead you and guided your path.
Hi, there, CJ and family. You're truly blessed, and I know you'll be happy with God in the centre of your lives. It is vital that we as lovers of Jesus have family Bible reading and prayer together. I have faith in you, you're a good and kind man. I trust we'll meet in the Lord's house one day. Maybe you're lovely wife will say hi to us at some stage? Love from South Africa, Shalom.
Really enjoyed this CJ. To me, nothing sounds broken, sounds like a True Love Story that blessed you and your 4 girls .👩👧👧👨👧 Love seeing the relationship you have with your adventurous little buddy, squirrely bear.💞👨👧 You 2 buddies💞 Melt my heart with Happy. Did you fix the Durango head gasket? Did you buy a toyota p/u? I'm the Chevy 4x4girl from the corn and beans of Illinois that comments😆. Is your big truck a freight shaker or an international cornhusker? LOL😉 I'm a Peterbilt girl .
I drive a freightshaker, would prefer a peterbilt or a w900. Nope didn’t get my pickup. Someone gave us another Durango that needed work so swapping parts and the old one will go to the junkyard with its blown head gasket.
I am looking for an old friend who was shunned her name is Barbara, I am in Ohio hope she reads this I used to buy Avon from her at Kraftmaid in Ohio I hope she watches your channel she has 2 kids she's a very nice lady and we have the same birthday.
Hi, I am 64 I don't understand God love all his children, He will not turn his back on you. Why do the Amish turn their backs on their family when they don't do what the elders want them to do? No matter what my kids do, they are my baby's I may not agree with some of the things they do, But they are always welcome in my home and in my heart. I do not have the right to judge only God will judge.
I listen to a Baptist Preacher on UA-cam. Dr. David Jeremiah, he preaches the Bible where you understand and learn. I like Dr. Charles Stanley also. I don't remember if I heard if CJ's wife Savanah got Saved, I hope so!
It is hard to go to a new church, especially by yourself. Maybe you shouldn't get cows. So close to the road. Love to hear how God works in your lives......
John 19:15-16a They cried out, "Away with Him, away with Him, crucify Him!" Pilate said to them, "Shall I crucify your King?" The chief priests answered, "We have no king but Caesar." So he delivered Him over to them to be crucified.
We use to have a farm in Missouri. When the kids were little they helped with the garden. They got lazy as teens and complained and were miserable to be with. I ended up doing it myself. My husband didn't help in the garden either. I finally got fed up and quit. They all talk about the delicious food on the farm but nobody wanted to put in the effort. We milked goats and I made our cheese and ice cream. Baked fresh bread everyday. Cooked and canned. My husband did help me butcher chickens, rabbits, goats and pigs. He worked a regular job in town and mowed lots of grass on Saturdays and fed the animals. I use to see the Amish women working together on their farms and wished I had someone to work with me but it was just me and the kids during the day and me working alone when the kids went to school. It was lonely but I loved raising the kids on the farm since I grew up in LA,CA
I would like to tour their temple but am not allowed to. We toured some of their other buildings to learn more about their religion. Not to join but to understand where they are coming from when we evangelise

I do like your version of Savannah's melting...!!!!😂 I'm sure she was... in her mind!😊💝 May God bless you both and your family. Barbara🌸
Thanks for showing the whole t shirt. Love it!
you have and give an abundance of love , everything about this video is amazing.
I listen to a lot of Charles Stanley podcast. Your dog reminds me of one that I had a long time ago, his name was smokey, like the bear.
I like Charles Stanley as well. He is straight and to the point. He is also a gentleman.
So funny she likes tending the garden as much as you said you hated weeding
Isn’t that how it works!😊
Love how God worked all of it out!
Thanks for being transparent. Since I have been listening to your videos I look at the name of your channel I always think of the song that says "I can Mash Potato" , which is a dance. Sorry, it just happens. Really enjoy your story.
The kids are all adorable., But the pic of Hannah with the sheep cracked me up! Awesome pic. The kitties are cute as all getout
Love your story!
Dude, you are Miranda's father, I'd seen the arm cast video before this one and kept thinking how much you two look alike, especially the eyes.
So happy for you! I know your heart is heavy about your parents but just know this was the best decision for you. Its ok to be happy and live life to fulfillment. Best wishes.
i love the cat like i one had for years
You seem like such a caring human being
Blessings to your family!!🌿🦋🙏
Thank you
If you want to go an thank the Pastor that performed your cousin's wedding -- you probably thought of this already but -- if you are still in contact with your cousin (I know how it is when we grow up and get busy with our own lives we sometimes lose touch) .....if she doesn't remember.... his name should be on the marriage certificate... I am sure (if you are able) he would appreciate your note :-) Or, if you remember the name of the church, contact them :-)
That is a good idea. Thank you!
✔️ Happy wife Happy life!!
As the saying goes. LoL 🤣🤣 🤣
I am an INFj and my love language is also quality time!
CJ Christ Jesus. He’s been with you since you were born ♥️
I agree. The more I look at my past the more I see Him shaping me for the future
Yep subscribed to Mike. He is a very clear teacher.
Handsome Amish man 🖤🙏
I’m glad that you spoke to her about the Lord and she kinda invited you with her.
Sorry about Homer 💔
I’m curious how your parents feel about your new family and if you remain in contact. I loved hearing your testimony and was blessed to hear how God lead you and guided your path.
Really enjoy your videos.

Nice story ! We were just in N. Indiana-
Great story
Hi, there, CJ and family. You're truly blessed, and I know you'll be happy with God in the centre of your lives. It is vital that we as lovers of Jesus have family Bible reading and prayer together. I have faith in you, you're a good and kind man. I trust we'll meet in the Lord's house one day. Maybe you're lovely wife will say hi to us at some stage? Love from South Africa, Shalom.
Maybe I can catch her by surprise😉. I look forward you meeting you guys in the Lords house someday! May God bless you!
Really enjoyed this CJ.
To me, nothing sounds broken, sounds like a True Love Story that blessed you and your 4 girls .👩👧👧👨👧
Love seeing the relationship you have with your adventurous little buddy, squirrely bear.💞👨👧
You 2 buddies💞 Melt my heart with Happy.
Did you fix the Durango head gasket?
Did you buy a toyota p/u?
I'm the Chevy 4x4girl from the corn and beans of Illinois that comments😆. Is your big truck a freight shaker or an international cornhusker? LOL😉
I'm a Peterbilt girl .
I enjoy your videos 👍🏻
Probably Pastor Tim at Nappanee Missionary Church preached the wedding lesson.
I can see the Amish in you. Great video! I want a Amish made rocking chair. I'm down here in Texas so I don't know how to get one.
Try Lehman’s.com. They might ship you one.
@@theamishpotato Thank you.
I love your shirt😊😊🤣🤣👍💥
Hi, I am 64 I don't understand God love all his children, He will not turn his back on you. Why do the Amish turn their backs on their family when they don't do what the elders want them to do? No matter what my kids do, they are my baby's I may not agree with some of the things they do, But they are always welcome in my home and in my heart. I do not have the right to judge only God will judge.
You may enjoy Greg Laurie and Jack Hibbs.
I listen to a Baptist Preacher on UA-cam. Dr. David Jeremiah, he preaches the Bible where you understand and learn. I like Dr. Charles Stanley also. I don't remember if I heard if CJ's wife Savanah got Saved, I hope so!
My Grandmother and Father left the Amish before I was a twinkle in his eye. I get really sad about not knowing the customs and all.
It is hard to go to a new church, especially by yourself. Maybe you shouldn't get cows. So close to the road. Love to hear how God works in your lives......
Nothing is by coincidence.
John 19:15-16a
They cried out, "Away with Him, away with Him, crucify Him!" Pilate said to them, "Shall I crucify your King?" The chief priests answered, "We have no king but Caesar." So he delivered Him over to them to be crucified.
Like your story. Good woman. So do you plan on having more children?
We don’t but if it happens🤷🏻♂️ it does
You’re a good man. I’m glad you aren’t a bar man. I wouldn’t date a bar man. I love how you two met. Adorable. Yes her knees got weak 😉
How many years have you been married??
Lol, u should go help her pull those weeds
It was lonely but I loved raising the kids on the farm since I grew up in LA,CA
did you get your wife an engagement ring?
❤
LORD JESUS Is not a Religion , LORD JESUS IS ONLY WAY TO HEAVEN 🙏 (Isaiah 53) ! You must be Born Again with Holy Spirit 🤗 Read BIBLE 📖 .
hello
Did I hear you correctly?? 🤔 You toured the Mormon Temple?? Why?? 🤔
I would like to tour their temple but am not allowed to. We toured some of their other buildings to learn more about their religion. Not to join but to understand where they are coming from when we evangelise
