Hey Davis Jay GREAT review! It's kind of a complicated pad lol! For all wondering why he received one, it's because he bought an Acacia pad and has never asked for anything - which is rare, so thanks again for the unsolicited review and good luck marching this summer! This pad is certainly huge! 16 lbs! In fact the stand holes on the base will only accommodate a few larger 17" stands - one of which we sell from DW, other wise the basket can clamp on to the rim like a standard drum. It comes in a million pieces so you can see how modular and customizable it is using varied resistance puck conbinations, 3 different insets and heads etc... Also all parts are easily replaced. The "resistance pucks" don't affect volume, just the upward resistance to the insert disc. So the side with the holes has limited resistance, depending on your puck configuration, while the opposite all rubber side of the base has unlimited (until someone implodes one). The foam ones are primarily for using the foam insert and a concert or field head - it sort of feels like a huge Remo pad you can tighten. The inset discs have a bearing edge cut on them to stretch the head flat to add tension to the rubber feel - so tighten down more for more buzzzz. Im getting old, so my personal favorite is putting a 1/4" insert disc under a Hybrid on the all rubber side, and 1/2"' foam and an Calftone on the opposite with the hard rubber resistance pucks like you used and crank down on it all for an amazing field drum to concert and brushes pad, and the opposite a buttery stretched Hybrid on the 1/4" rubber. If you're not on our Instagram, we are releasing a single sided version soon! Thanks again for the support Davis - and our customers!!!!
from a sound engineers perspective for videos i would (if able) use the wireless mic to record your voice and then the actual mic for your drumming. This is just from a audio perspective
Hey Davis Jay, I’ve been loving your videos, and I have to say your a cool dude and your the reason why I spent my birthday money on a marching snare, and again, I’m a huge fan! 😊
A pad you have to put together? Wow. I think the whole customization straight out of the box is great but could be intimidating for beginners due to all the variety. Definitely think the product has a particular audience in mind. Looks like a fun pad.
@ Thanks for the advice, Davis!!! I was actually planning on going to an open class audition camp next year. Do you have any suggestions on which ones would be the best to propel me into the sphere of world class?
Is the pad too deep for the stand to clamp to the wood? I didn't notice any wiggle-wobble by just racking it in the stand but curious if you can tighten it.
davis, can you explain your match grip technique? i've always loved bluecoats snare technique and no matter what i do, i can't seem to replicate it. what's the secret?
i've been thinking of lessons but i'd have to do them later. i'm really busy rn with concert season and it's competitions. maybe over the summer or around march
really cool to see more and more pads that attempt to replicate the feel of a real drum, hopefully marchable pads become more popular too (just sucks that carriers are 8 billion dollars)
I'm a beginner. I'm trying to get my practice pad set up the exact same height and angle as my snare. Am I going overboard? I just want them to feel similar when going back and forth if that makes sense.
Looks a lot like the Rudimental Drummer pad from the Netherlands which I absolutely love. About the same price range, too. However, theirs isn't as versatile as this and doesn't come with that really convenient handle. Great review.
my friend has this and he sucks at drums and I told him I'd trade my Evans RealFeel pad so I could practice marching band and drum corps stuff he said no because he "needs to practice his paradiddles really fast" i told him I'd paradiddle him if he didn't give it to me bruh 💀💀

Hopefully anyone intimidated is able to find this video!
my beloved davis jay 😈
😄
can you please do a video of you playing the drumslinger pad by its self please!
Maybe!
Hey Davis, what tips would you give drummers early on their journey in order to better prepare them to make top corps like the Bluecoats?
Audition as soon as you can
@ Thanks for the advice, Davis!!! I was actually planning on going to an open class audition camp next year. Do you have any suggestions on which ones would be the best to propel me into the sphere of world class?
This vs The RCP Hybrid Snare Drum Practice Pad vs the Xymox Hybrid Snare Drum Practice Pad?
I don’t have either of those
Is the pad too deep for the stand to clamp to the wood? I didn't notice any wiggle-wobble by just racking it in the stand but curious if you can tighten it.
Yeah the pad was too big lol
davis, can you explain your match grip technique? i've always loved bluecoats snare technique and no matter what i do, i can't seem to replicate it. what's the secret?
I’d love to in a lesson!
@@DavisJay You do lessons??? If so, I’d totally be interested!!!!
i've been thinking of lessons but i'd have to do them later. i'm really busy rn with concert season and it's competitions. maybe over the summer or around march
Okay so, out of all pads, which one is your favorite, which one feels most the realistic, and which one is easiest to transport?
i'd assume this one would feel most realistic. you're playing on an actual tightened snare head
Zildjian pad is my favorite because it’s quiet and feels great, beetle pad is most realistic, easiest to transport is the Evans attacktile
@@DavisJaywhat’s the quietest one that feels like a pad, my Carlos botello signature from beetle percussion is amazing but it’s kinda loud
@@DavisJaywhich zildjian the reflexx?

No that’s totally valid
