Candy's father, Hans Dulfer, is The Netherlands' best saxophone player and he tought his daughter to play at a very early age. When she was 13 she already performed with a band on the North Sea Jazz Festival and at age 16 she had her own band, Funky Stuff. You were already tipped about the song 'Lili was here'. You might even know it when you hear it.
The woman With the red curls, Bergit Lewis, did a great cover of Purple Rain. Edsilia Rombley, the woman beside Glennis was one of the hosts of Eurovision 2021. The Ladies of Soul are amazing.
I already requested the purple rain one ;) So that will be coming up in a few weeks I guess.

I just looove the Ladies of Soul. They actually have been friends for years. They kinda grew up together. Trijntje and Berget were neighbors and Glennis and Edsilia met eachother at a singing contest and connected so well that they became bosom buddies. Trijntje and Candy know eachother through their very musical families. They all have had amazing solo careers long before they decided to join forces once a year and give a handful of concerts. Every year before the concerts start they come up with a song that opens up the shows. I love that each one has their own individual sound and strength, but when they come together… that’s when magic happens! I’m a sucker for harms and they are amazing at that. And soooo soulful!
I hope you will do lots more of them… They started in 2013 and actually in 2017 Trijntje decided to leave the formation and this was like her fairwell concert. I hope you like this little background information

The ladies of Soul: Glennis Grace, Candy Dulfer, Trijntje Oosterhuis ( sadly for us she left the group in 2017 because she is very bussy with her own career ) Berget Lewis and last but not least Edsilia Rombly. They all have their own career and ones a year they come together and gave 2 or 3 amazing sell out concert shows visite by people from all over the world. The ladies are also best friends for almost 25 years. It would be wonderful if you show more of the ladies of Soul, i promise you, you wont regret it. In the Netherlands we have 2 big concerts every year.
Once a year these amazing ladies with great careers come together and sing their hearts out for us as the ladies of souls.
And we have simular group of men "The Toppers" who does the same.
Also once a year.
Edsilia Rombley (with the purple hair) is married to the brother of Trijntje Oosterhuis called Tjeerd, he is a producer. And Trijntje Oosterhuis is together with the twin brother of Birgit Lewis (with the red curls) and he plays in the band.
I think from every one you have listend to the ladies of soul are the best.

The ladies of soul did also perform a fantastic Aretha Franklin tribute. Candy has played with large names like Prince. Her biggest and I believe only hit was the song "Lilly was here" which she did with David Stewart (Eurithmics)

These are our ladies of Soul and yes.. they are true soul sisters hehehe.
Each of these ladies are a vocal force on their own (and one Sax force ofc.. eventho Candy can sing too), but together?... they are magical.
This is a "labor of love" for the ladies, they all love soul music and get to sing the songs that means the most to them, and as you can tell from the size of the crowd, they are very successful at it.
All i can say is, more Ladies of Soul please!!

Aaaaah….I looooove that you reacted to The Ladies of Soul!! They are world class, each in their own rights. I hope you.will check out some of their solo’s in these concerts too. I would like to suggest the one where Berget Lewis sings Purple Rain. She is being accompanied by her twin brother on electric guitar.

Her brother who is married to Trijntje (the one with the big black belt) and Trijntjes brother married Edsilia (the one with the short hair) so they not only friends but also family. ❤
Their Aretha Franklin medley is also amazing. And I ll be there. Thats where friends are for.
Another great suggestion imo is Glennis Grace singing “I’ll never love again” (from the movie A Star is Born) also on the Ladies of Soul. Prepare for some powerful vocals.

Cyndi Lauper is one of my all time favorites and True colors is one of the most beautiful songs ever. I've seen Cyndi sing this live three times. Such a wonderful lyric. Very good performance of two great songs. All of these women are fabulous.

Great production indeed! At 7:01 the back-up singer on the left is Mr Keith Paul. He used to sing with Whitney Houston at her concerts. Memories 😎. Today he sings with Glennis at her Whitney Tribute Concerts.

Hello, i;m happy to see that you did a reaction for The lady's of Soul. There are several songs and medleys to find on youtube...so you can go on and on and on with music from the lady's. You have seen Edsilia as host in Beste zangers before. Edsilia was also a guest in BZ. But so far you have not reacted on her yet. The show Beste zangers has always a singer as host. Normaly it is Jan Smit. But he has had a burn out. And he was replaced bij his friends Nick and Simon and bij Edsilia.
Jan and Edsilia were also host in the Eurovision Song Contest.
You have not seen Berget Lewis before. She has a beautiful raw voice. Hugh fan of Shaka Khan. She loves singing her songs and she is impressive doing that.

The original is from the soul band “The Manhattan’s” and the single was released in 1976 I think. The band was founded in 1964 as a r&b/Soul band. These guy’s singing in close harmony to, but they didn’t have great hits in Europe. I know them because of the American soldiers who came to our club and btw they introduced more amazing R&B bands to me as well. Stylistics for instance.

Such a shame they kicked Glennis out of Ladies of Soul because of her mistake. They pressured her to lie about it and announce she was quitting, but she said if they were kickng her out, they should announce it themselves. That took 2 years. I have been a fan of seevral of the ladies for about 25 years. I trusted them. But in their statements, the media and private messages to their fans, they lied that they had regular contact with her and were supporting her. How much they valued her as a colleague and long time good friend. They'd never drop her and they didn't want to do the shows without her. Glennis released her single last week Friday and announced a Whitney Tribute on October 6 in Amsterdam, ticket sales started 2 April. A few days later, on Easter sunday Ladies of Soul announced they had big news on April 2nd. They announced their show, without Glennis, on April 2nd and their pre-sale started on the same day as her official sale. They dodged questions about their friendship with Glennis and if they were the ones Glennis was talking about when she said that close friends ghosted her and abandoned her. Edsilia said that they are busy and she has children. But that was the case before the incident too. Candy said something about sometimes expectations not matching. So the answer is: yes, it was them ghosting her and abandoning her. There was mediation, but it failed because they wanted her to say she was quitting. Glenis will be okay though, she was very graceful about it in an interview: She says she will always love them, but it was and is very painful. When she saw the announcement, normally she’d be there too. So she had an off day that day. She would not have made the same decision if the roles had been reversed. She was asked why she did not get a second chance. She said to ask Tjeerd and the ladies. She doesn’t know. She made a mistake but she doesn’t iunderstand why she does not get a second chance. She said she wishes them luck. Ladies of Soul are blocking fans that reveal the truth so they are not just cancelling Glennis, but their own fans too. I guess their true colors have shown after all.
