I dunno. If you haven't fought any brotato bosses (of which there are many) how can you judge if something is a brotato clone or not? At first glance, this seems like it restricts build variety while adding a ton of gambling mechanics into the formula when compared to Brotato and other bullet hell / bullet heaven type games. Would have to see more runs to be able to say, though. If every run winds up being two random weapons with an array of random pets fighting for you, it would probably get stale quick.
I was about to say something about reforging, like the first Synergy-class being implicit and dependant on the type of armor but again you figured it out eventually.. Getting better at restraining myself from commenting prematurely xD With that whole "clone" and "x-like" debate - people often get way to serious about it and disregard anything that looks "x"-alike just because "like" equals to "blatantly cloned" in their mind. There are many x-like games that take their own spin on the genre, some more, some less and I find it interesting to see those games and what they do differently. Some I personally find more interesting (although not neccesarily better) than the original. If they add/differentiate themself with -something they bring variety into the genre.. I dont see a loss for us gamers in that. While we're at the x-like topic, but changing perspective.. Didnt blizzard seriously "suggest" that -nearly- all ARPGs (most likely esp. PoE2) should be called "Diablo-likes" ?
That would be specifically Rod Fergusson, who is basically in charge of the Diablo ip. I'm sure he's just being petty because of all the hype that was surrounding poe2 back when he said it, and diablo 4 is mostly known as a steaming turd.
