Need to pull the headliner forward towards the windshield first until it completely comes off. This will avoid damaging pulling it back first. Great video!

Great tutorial, thank you for this. Going to do this to my 98 EX coupe.
Just wanted to say, for anyone else trying this, try to make sure your adhesive is flame resistant. The OE one usually is, and I've heard tell that lots of spray adhesives - including some of 3M's popular offerings - are *super* flammable. Small fire in the car can quickly set your whole roof on fire if the adhesive isn't flame resistant.

    A couple things here:
    1. Get a wire cup wheel on a drill or right angle grinder to make quick work of the foam on the headboard.
    2. You can pick up some sun visors cheap at a salvage yard if you can find some in good shape.

I just finished my wife's minivan 9 feet long had to use 4 yards for the Grand Caravan. You are right about the stickiness. Instructions said to wait 5 minutes to get tacky so I messed with my dog and the wind blew my material over and it stuck to itself permanently. Had to reorder more material. I used a soldering iron to cut out the holes.

2 things i learned from doing this:
1- when removing the old foam, i realized u can peel the very top layer of the board material and just peel all the foam off with it and there is still plenty of board left, i took some 600 grit to remove a few little burrs from the peeling, way quicker than scraping and scrubbing it off
2- any little tears/ little imperfections that would show through the foam, i applied a little gorilla glue then sanded it flush when it dried

I just bought a ej9 with a d16z6 swap in it. Owner said he rebuild the engine 2k miles before: new rings and "new rod bearings, because they had some little scraches" and I drive it home less than 200 miles and it starts rod knocking I think, the sound comes from the oil pan and when I am under the car and listen I fell my heart being mushed. Any thoughts? Is it that bad to gen the crank redone and use bigger bearings? I plan to build it for 400 hp but I wanted to learn the car at this power lever. Thanks in advance

Nice, I did the same to my ej8 a year ago, found out the Hobby Lobby closest to my house has headliner material in stock. My project cost a little more because I bought too much adhesive, but still well worth it.

    • @RefineMovement

Is it similar on a sedan? My headliner is real bad and I am likely gonna take it out and end up getting a shop to cut me out a new one, but I don't know if that's doable. What are these made of usually?

Crap always when I watch these vids they remove those panels so easy. Mine is al covered with extra steips alongside the tdoor trim. Plus my seatbelts are adjustable, no cap there to remove like he did. I only need to check my tail antenna for a leak. I need to take out the complete hood interior for that, everything is overlapping and those back pillar covers are screwed to the frame and those are covered by the lower hood interior.... 😭😭😭
