    I have owned 6 Tacomas now. People will all say I will never buy a 4cyl turbo...Toyota has been making 4 cylinder turbos for decades.. I have a 24 Tacoma manual..The transmissions are made by Aisin not Toyota and it's about 15 of them out of about 100k sold. I think this 24 is the best one I have owned out of all of them..See what Ford or Chev does if your transmissions goes. We all know Toyota stands by what they sell and will take care of us if something goes wrong..

      I own a 4 cyl turbo in a mazda and I am ready to go back to NA. I don't like the lag. I drive it in manual mode to have better control of it. Of course, tough luck for me unless I go EV since NA is on its way out.

      Just like the Grand Highlander and Tundra and that’s the reason why Toyota is consistently #2 in dealership experience just behind Lexus and after all, Toyotas goal was to always make their customers happy and stress free

      Everything gets replaced from every brand under warranty.... You pay out of pocket otherwise. Toyota doesn't comp free transmissions outside of warranty or a massive failure on their part, like recent developments. All of these companies cut costs and features, raise prices and pass nothing off to us.

    Awesome video. Thank you.
    I now have owned both. Surprised to see the hood of the GX moving up and down waiving caused by the wind at freeway speed. Other than that super happy with the GX, on the 1958, I couldn’t get over the engine sound and transition from hybrid to gasoline.

    Thanks for the exterior overview of both vehicles, nice to see how they compare. Not having the tools you have to measure gaps and thicknesses, what other things are you inspecting in a vehicle on the lot before purchasing. I'd love hearing about your procedures, what's important to look for and any tips you may have prior to purchase. Thanks!

    David, Hino's Hamura plant was the manufacturing base for the world renowned T100 pickup as well as the cult favourite FJ Cruiser. They have also built countless Prados over the years.
    As such I am confident they will do a satisfactory job on the new Land Cruiser. 🤩

    I talked to someone recently who just retired from TMC and worked closely with Koji Sato. Toyota is working on some real challenges right now. And it is trying to turn around an aircraft carrier in terms of the way the corporation thinks and plans their products. It may be ~4-5 years before these changes are implemented. A different company now. Yet Toyota is somewhat reluctant to change.

    David in Toyotas defect statement they say that some of the V35 engines are different and place different pressures on the main bearing. Do you think they changed design while in production? Would you have an opinion as to if this debris issue or a design change, or both. I found the July 2 24 document confusing. Do you think that the V35 engines outside of the recall are ok, or will the recall be expanded. As an engineer, your thoughts would be great to hear. I don't expect that this would be answered, and I wish Toyota would be clearer. I have a 23 LX 600 with a March 23 build date, which is outside the recall. So far, over 11k miles, the vehicle has been above excellent. I'm glad that Toyota is addressing the issue as they are, but the ambiguity of the document puzzles me. Of course, I am not an engineer, so I pose it to you. Great channel, great information.

      Toyota made these vehicles more complicated for what they are. My 2022 Toyota Corolla SE 2.0 Dynamic Force Engine is none turbo and still can out perform and leave Toyota's V6 twin turbo hybrid battery 🪫 boost engine in the dust. The engines are to complicated for what they are

    Unfortunately, seems like your LC 250 is less than perfect. Toyota build quality/reliability has taken a real hit this year (2024). Hopefully, they are figuring it out.
    Dont trade in that V8 GX 460 just yet!

  • @Naminorite
    @Naminorite 2 місяці тому +1

    It is indeed nice that they build them in Japan (agreed) That said, the issue is if you want the more affordable (and frankly better looking model, IMHO) it is the Toyota But.... you can't get that without a hybrid. I am sure there are future costs associated with the hybrid and that is a shame. These vehicles are supposed to be used for more rugged situations and as such I would think luxury price and luxury qualities are not in alignment with proposed usage. I've been waiting decades for Toyota to allow the USA to have a Prado and this is disappointing to say the least. Note: I had an 80's 4Runner with 4 cyl and while underpowered the Toyota 4 cylinder really should not be a huge concern. That said, function and durability should be the top priority and I think they are losing their way with many of these newer models.

    I have been driving Toyotas for decades. My 2019 4 runner is the best vehicle I have owned. I love the looks of the newer generation of vehicles they are making, but I am like some on here that believe that Toyota is overthinking these days with their engines. They have had such a rock solid reputation with reliability, the main reason I have been buying Toyotas. Evolution in the industry is inevitable. But a total reversal in thinking really is risky for those of us who go to Toyota because we know what we are getting. Now I don’t.

    • @canto_v12
      @canto_v12 2 місяці тому +2

      All modern water-based paints have orange peel, the difference is in the wave size and consistency of the waviness. On top of that, most orange peel looks OK if there is sufficient clear coat which provides gloss and "depth." Most Japanese brands tend to have somewhat thin clear coats, which results in less visual depth in the paint and also a faster fading time when left to age in the sun.
      Oil-based paints went out of style in the 90s, and even back then most mainstream brands had already abandoned them.

    The ones I've owned in the past (the one I own today) and the ones I've inspected at dealerships, all suffer from huge body panel misalignments, especially at the whole tailgate. Not to mention the cheap and flimsy plastics everywhere. Regarding reliability, I'd say it's better due to self-suggestion, as toyota owners do more preventive maintenance intervals (like changing the transmission ATF despite the brand saying it's not necessary).
