Hi. I see you are commenting on the short version of my build I do have a longer version here ua-cam.com/video/PpN8tEBXqZQ/v-deo.html which may be of more help. Also I have another channel called Rob Brennan balsa wood planes ua-cam.com/channels/JuHhT6bndlvVoDLdgHdF_w.html dedicated to more detailed build videos. It doesn't have any of the Spitfire but the basics are all very similar and may be of help
Thanks Joseph. I use an airbrush with water to shrink as it gives a very fine mist. To dope the tissue I use 30% EZE dope to 70% water mix again using my airbrush.
@@robbrennanrc I was just about the ask the same question. You never show the doping stage in any of your videos [that I've seen] It's a very important stage. Get it wrong and the wings can warp. Well, at least it used to do with cellulose shrinking dope.
Barry Gough Hi Rob, can you tell me if the fuselage clamps I can see in this shot ua-cam.com/video/7rrPgzNJ3BI/v-deo.html can be purchased and if so from whom? As a new comer in my early eighties I have found your videos most helpful and informative when building a Spitfire by VMC as a first effort. Also, how do I source small right angle block suitable for ensuring wing and other ribs remain upright during building stages? Don't know where else to go hence asking you as a professional, hope you don't mind?
Hi Barry. Right not sure which clamps you are on about as I use several but Here are a couple of links. The first is Amazon for the clear plastic and yellow clamps: www.amazon.co.uk/Modelcraft-PCL8710-2-Small-Multi-Clamp/dp/B0037YEH0K/ref=asc_df_B0037YEH0K/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=214192173502&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=5404427720828249635&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9045473&hvtargid=pla-475848751567&psc=1&th=1&psc=1 The second is for the latest version of the blue clamps from ebay: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111900284187?var=0&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338268676&toolid=10044&customid=CjwKCAjw8-OhBhB5EiwADyoY1YqOHZIc4AxKOAAWg_DvpzcNk_EyJgOuRyn7jeN_lw0lf8WCcjTKPxoC1JQQAvD_BwE As for the set square I've not found anything like the one I have but did find this from Amazon but it is 13 quid: www.amazon.co.uk/Precision-Machinist-Engineer-Hardened-50x40mm/dp/B09TR1MZJ4/ref=sr_1_30?keywords=small%2Bset%2Bsquare&qid=1681472194&sr=8-30&th=1 Hope this helps and good luck
@@robbrennanrc Hi Rob Thanks so much for replying and I have ordered the clamps you listed first today. These were the ones I saw in your video and I am sure they will be ideal for just steadying a fuselage for example, to give me tow hands to work with. I have looked at the other items and I have overcome the need for the blue clamps but had also ordered a square meanwhile and will let you know if it is a sound and "square" item. Once again very grateful for you advice's.
Sorry no but you can print them off from the Vintage model web site here if that helps: www.vintagemodelcompany.com/content/markings-sheets/SPITFIRE%20PATTERNS%20SHEET%20(V).pdf
Another great build video Rob - everybody loves the Spitfire and this looks like a lovely representation of the aeroplane - how would you rate the build instructions and plans? Thanks in advance :-)
Thanks for the comment and support Mark. Overall really good, the parts fitted really well on the plans and to each other and the instructions are quite in-depth.
Love the final out come. Video is a little too fast for these aging eyes. I would be interested in seeing a real time assembly of the nose cone and fitting the prop into it.
@@mattgoldsworthy6037 Hi Mate. Really sorry for the delay but I have been working on the footage but this was before I started to narrate what I was doing and I didn't have a mike to do any overdubbing and since then what with this COVID it had slipped my mind. While I work on it I notice your comments are on my short version of this build but I do have a longer version of it which is 37 mins in length here ua-cam.com/video/PpN8tEBXqZQ/v-deo.html If you fast-forward to around 30 mins it shows some of the cutting out of the plastic nose cone in RT which may be of help. I will try to get the RT version published by the weekend possibly Sunday.
I think your videos are too fast make a 30 to 45 minute video and if I want to slow it down I can slow it down I just see a finished product looks very nice but I don't know how you did it it goes so fast there's no point watching it I'm not learning anything it looks good but I don't know how you did it
Gonna buy one tonight 👍 thanks for the video
Hope you enjoy it! Thanks for watching
I love it! I would like to build a replica of that design. Where can I see the plans? 😊
Hi Karen. You would need to contact 'The Vintage Model Company' and ask them if they sell the plans. www.vintagemodelcompany.com
I’m building Regis right now and it helps as I can’t really understand the instructions

Rob Brennan RC thanks a lot you really help :)
This is great, thanks. Do you think it’s really necessary to use the nose/cowling paper templates or can you just use tissue?
From memory the guide says you can use just tissue but you should add more strips of balsa wood. Hope this helps. Many thanks my friend.
@@robbrennanrc Thanks Rob
can you show how to convert it to rc?
Looks amazing ! what did you use to shrink the tissue ? and finally seal the tissue ?

Thanks for the comment Pogenstine. Glad you liked it.
could you please tell me where do I hook the rubber band? One goes into the prop shaft, but where does the other?
@Larry Larry thank you!
