HOW? How does he sing with that much tone while playing bass?!!? It's the kind of thing you can't practice, as it's all about being super present in what you're singing, but playing the bass at the same time, plus amp and pedal switching, such an impressive musician.
Royal Blood are in honesty the band of this decade in my opinion. There are a lot of greats from the 00's that are still putting out good music, but in terms of new artists, these guys are leading the charge. WAAX are great as well, Pretty Vicious look promising, but RB have made legitimately elite music that holds up to the best ever. I remember losing hope a few years ago that maybe the days of high level rock were dying, but I've never been so happy to be wrong
I think all these tracks have a more interesting sound than the studio ones on the album.... a nice garage kind of sound, if you know what i mean good work guys :)
It's really interesting how Mike plays with mostly down strokes, a lot of bassists & guitarists alternate but I didn't notice Mike alternating or using any upstrokes at all.
Dunno whether it’s just me or what but in my opinion down strokes sound more “bassier” which might be the reasoning behind it. Not entirely sure but might just be my playing style
Blake Spurlock he's splitting his signal and running one into an octave and then a guitar amp, and he can switch between the bass and guitar sound or just the guitar sound
It’s actually more clever than that. He actually plays through two amps at once. One of which plays the regular bass pitch, the other is put through a pitch shifter
I'd say that they're the British response to Death From Above 1979, but that'd be very stupid. They're both great on their genres and proves that bass & drum formula it's something very underrated.
Please oh please can music go back to this sort of raw talent and instrument playing now as were all done with hearing the nonsense computer generated stuff now. Let's give our kids "real musicians" to look up to and admire like when we were kids
You say computer generated sounds but he uses a billion pedals to achieve this sounds, most of them being digital which means it's generated from a computer in a way.
+rmrib5 ....He's not. MotorHead, Dirtbombs, Death From Above 1979, Whitey Houston... That's Whitey, like White E. That being said, These guys are fucking awesome and don't sound like anyone I've heard recently
my only issue with their live performances is the rhythm - to my ears, it often sounds kind of floating even within one song - sometimes it's faster, sometimes slower
Levi Beverly what I mean is tho, when they talk about bass players in music they generally always go on about black guys in funk and soul bands, I know there are great white bassists out there, I played bass, not in the league of these guys but they generally think white guys don't have rhythm or something and people think you need great rhythm to play bass
best rock band I've heard in a long while
Jaume Pascual Roig Jack White and Royal Blood are here to save the Rock
orlo alvarez THAT IS SO TRUE!!!!!!!
+Orlo Álvarez Imagine them playing together :3
Even if love both, I think that their style won't fit well together
+Orlo Álvarez Wut?
This is the real Drum and Bass
Ironic that you're saying that when he's connected to a billion pedals and a guitar amp lol
Lol Truth
not ironic at all
@@BigMacSoss 2 amps but i agree
DrumboiBanne he actually turns on and off bass and guitar amps, also does it really matter what effects he uses?
Only two guys and such a magnificent sound.
He is playing his bass through both a guitar and a bass amp, making the magnificent sound! No third guy :)
They sound the same in concert as they do on the recordings. (seen them twice, met them once) Huuuuuge fan!
HOW? How does he sing with that much tone while playing bass?!!? It's the kind of thing you can't practice, as it's all about being super present in what you're singing, but playing the bass at the same time, plus amp and pedal switching, such an impressive musician.
With practice it's quite natural, it's not "Okay I got to switch my pedal next mesure" but more like a choregraphy you know by heart
Yeah so that you can put as much tone into your voice as possible. He smashes it so well
Mike being able to play Ten Tonne with all the effects while singing it blows my mind
Royal Blood are in honesty the band of this decade in my opinion. There are a lot of greats from the 00's that are still putting out good music, but in terms of new artists, these guys are leading the charge. I remember losing hope a few years ago that maybe the days of high level rock were dying, but I've never been so happy to be wrong
It's sad that Pretty Vicious failed to achieve success
lol the drummer is so chill like the singer is going hard and the drummer looks like hes about to say "hey man, hows it going?"
DryBlue Berries watch them live at a real gig. Ben thatcher or 'the drummer' goes mental
he prolly wasn't drunk here...
he usually is....
I've only known about Royal Blood for about a week, and I'm blown away that two guys are in this band and they sound so damn good!!!
I really love them. But the director really needs a shout out for this.
Amazing. Bass and drums, I wouldn't say it's possible.
Out of the black is definetly my favourite song now *-*
This band is completely and totally awesome... \m/
+fede camusso You are completely and totally right!
Awesome
Ten Tonne Skeleton is so much better live than on the album.
aveuch All the songs are better live. The drums are a lot better live
+Troy O'Brien True that, I saw them open for Foo Fighters on the Sonic Highways tour
aveuch His vocals on that one and in general aren't nearly as strong live but their overall sound is represented better live I think
100%.
Royal blood is for me the one of the "best bands" i discovered last few years ,and dear ar live verry good . greetings fom BELGIUM .keep going boys !
Love their raw sound!
Comme quoi, avec le talent on peut tout faire!!!!!!!! Fabuleux
I think all these tracks have a more interesting sound than the studio ones on the album.... a nice garage kind of sound, if you know what i mean good work guys :)
BASS POWER!!!! YEAH
It's really interesting how Mike plays with mostly down strokes, a lot of bassists & guitarists alternate but I didn't notice Mike alternating or using any upstrokes at all.

Gosh! .. 4:54 Miiike! ..Thanks Deezer! This Session is AWESOME!!! ..
Man, these guys rock! My new favorite band.
these guys are beyond good...
This is awesome! I love drum and guitar duos. Definitely be checking out more of royal blood's stuff.
It's actually drums and bass guitar to make it an even deeper sound, but same concept.
wow. haven't seen a band with this new fresh sound, arrangement for a very long time. and really spot on live performers. simply awesome.
Rock N Roll! Kicking some Ass. Royal Blood!
This is filmed really well
Holy shit. I didn't know it was just a guy with a bass and an octave pedal.
I didn't realize it either, I knew there were only two members but I just never put two and two together.
Blake Spurlock he's splitting his signal and running one into an octave and then a guitar amp, and he can switch between the bass and guitar sound or just the guitar sound
Blake
bit more than an octave pedal mate.
It’s actually more clever than that. He actually plays through two amps at once. One of which plays the regular bass pitch, the other is put through a pitch shifter
GREAT!!!
thank you DEEZER: amazing video and audio!
respect
That drummer is very in sync with the bass player, really has it together which is hard to find a drummer like that.
Royal Blood you are incredible, greetings from Brasil2020
Top notch job on the mix
Amazing guys! Amazing music! Such an overwhelming recording session!
THIS IS SO GOOD OMG... I really needed to express it
I love that end of OOTB so bad

Eles são absurdamente bons tanto inclusive ao vivo, tive a oportunidade de vê-los no Rock in Rio 2015.
Pure talent !!!!!!!
This video and sound is awesome. Terrific! Looks and sounds great!!!
En este momento 'La sangre' pone el rock en el mundo.
yeeeeeeeeeeeahhhh
I'd say that they're the British response to Death From Above 1979, but that'd be very stupid. They're both great on their genres and proves that bass & drum formula it's something very underrated.
Hugo Guillén just check bass drum of death :D
Hugo Guillén I like these guys better than DFA 1979. They're more melodical
Everything about this video is top notch! Great job =D I am going to watch this on a loop
THIS IS JUST AMAZING OH MY GOD
So talented...Cant believe that they are only 2!
THE KING IN THE NORTH!

Please oh please can music go back to this sort of raw talent and instrument playing now as were all done with hearing the nonsense computer generated stuff now. Let's give our kids "real musicians" to look up to and admire like when we were kids
You say computer generated sounds but he uses a billion pedals to achieve this sounds, most of them being digital which means it's generated from a computer in a way.
still epic in 2022
why was he the first to play bass like this? it is much better than the traditional way
+rmrib5 Death From Above 1979 was doing this way back in the 2000s
+rmrib5 Lemmy did the same, afterall he's a rythem guitar player, just with 2 strings less and a longer neck :P
RIP Lemmy
+rmrib5 ....He's not. MotorHead, Dirtbombs, Death From Above 1979, Whitey Houston... That's Whitey, like White E. That being said, These guys are fucking awesome and don't sound like anyone I've heard recently
Awesome!
brill amazing

How cool!!
Recuerdo cuando salio
1.25x is pretty lit.
Sounds much better than the album, this guys rocks... come to fucking Mexico.
Esto es mera calidá'
Excuse me. Where you at??
my only issue with their live performances is the rhythm - to my ears, it often sounds kind of floating even within one song - sometimes it's faster, sometimes slower
Ten tone skeleton sounds like the dead wether
Try "One Trick Pony" (shit, even the title reminds me of a Dead Weather song).
No Little Monster no party
Anyone knows bands like this? I'll appreciate your suggestions!
Death from Above 1979
+SuperAdy2000 1979 sucks
Daniel Santiago E. Reingwolf
The White Stripes, The Black Keys
SLAVES- are kinda like that..they're a duo act and rock pretty hard
They're awesome, but don't forget Death From Above
Damn !
Las novuevas tecnologias
#RoyalBlood are very talented .
This is the shit! So cool! Love it!
Are these ends of bones in the drawing resembling balls? xD
bout time the poor old bass had some cred with a white dude.
john entwistle
Alex Upex yeah he was good too
Wes Claypool? The bassist for Dream Theater? Like a ton of others?
Levi Beverly what I mean is tho, when they talk about bass players in music they generally always go on about black guys in funk and soul bands, I know there are great white bassists out there, I played bass, not in the league of these guys but they generally think white guys don't have rhythm or something and people think you need great rhythm to play bass
Jack Bruce
Don't care for the music video editing...pull back and let us see them interact and play their craft.
I miss the Gretsch

ALways thought these guys sounded a bit much like Death From Above 1979. Who are way heavier in my opinion...
