I'm so glad you got to experience full moon there because it's literally one of my favorite things about living in northern Finland (well basically anywhere with snow)!
Love these holiday vlogs so much!! Nature is such a beautiful thing and the shots you got of the full moon & glittering moon were so magical. I feel so homely after this and hope your both doing okay x
As a Brit living in Canada I learned the hard way how importantl dressing for real cold is - Goose down filled Parka with big hood , Waterproof lined mid calf boots with good grips , thermal waterproof gloves . Scarf or neck warmer and woollen hat. Waterproof lined pants, wearing multiple thin layers top and bottom . thermal cotton and cashmere sweaters that breathe. Lip balm, sunscreen and shades.
The plane clapping was definitely a bigger thing like 10 years ago I feel, maybe also a tourist thing? When I was a kid, everyone always clapped when the plane landed for summer holidays etc but I haven’t had any plane clapping on any flights I’ve been on in Europe over the last five years, I always thought it had gone out of style or something, so interesting to know it still happens 😂
It usually happens in Canada too! Yes, I've asked and they say they can hear. You should hear if it's been a scary landing, everyone hoots and hollers. This also happens in the US when I have flown there, but honestly haven't gone in about 5 years.
you forgetting your coat on the plane reminded me.. back in 2014 my mum picked me and my siblings up from school and drove us to the airport as a surprise for the christmas holidays.. next thing we knew we were in minus 20 degrees in helsinki and then lapland in our school skirts😅 the best memories!
I'm definitely a clapper. We've been traveling back and forth from the States to Greece since I was baby and have been clapping ever since I learned how!
I'm from the UK too and fly to Spain and Portugal often (pretty much always easyJet) and I can't really remember a time people clapped. I don't fully understand it, even if the landing is good I feel like the pilot must know we're grateful even without clapping. Lapland looks amazing 🎄
In New Zealand (especially flying into wellington) if there has been heaps of turbulance just before the landing then people will clap when we land. The wind can be so strong in Welly that the plane tips side to side as you approach the runway... they call it the wellington wave
Reindeer meat is sold all year round in Norway. Og has little to no taste without any seasoning. If you season it right and have a good sauce to it its amazing.
I’ve only known landing clapping once on a turbulent return flight from USA, but I would happily clap both take off & landing as think both are absolutely amazing (I get tears on take off, not gonna lie) ❄️🌟❄️
You actually went to the Artic Circle WITHOUT A WINTER COAT????? 😳🙄🥶😱 ...Put your hood on, cover your ears...geeeeeez!!! Sooooo beautiful...the filming in the forest, surreal., like a painting by Tom Thompson....On flights from Montreal going down south, some people clap after the landing ..mostly those wearing very loud t-shirts/shorts and flip flops, even when it's -15C and snowing when they leave...😂PARTY TIME ALL THE TIME
I actually saw you guys at the sunset spot just off levi and you guys were so cool just normal people and reaally nice! So glad you enjoyed lapland and hope you saw the northenlights like you asked ;)
This was cool to watch as a Finnish person. I've been following you and Zoe for like 10 years and it's weird to see you in my home country. I do study in London too so it makes me think it's even weirder as you are in Finland and I'm in England lol XD
Oh, don't worry about the reindeer that end up on the dinner plate... they're Santas rejects. They can't fly, they can't pull a sled, they aren't cute. They're really not of any use at all, except being roasted and served with a side of mash.
This is so strange because I literally have just come back from our holiday in the Arctic. Been to Santa land a few Christmases ago, hope you had a good time despite dianne’s COVID.
I would love to spend Christmas in Lapland! It looks amazing! I'm from Denmark and I have only experienced clapping when landing in a plane once, in the US from Florida to Atlanta. I have never experienced it when I was flying in Europe, Asia, or Africa. So I didn't think people did that anymore, but fun to know that it still happens :D
Catching up with your vlogs and it would be amazing to see Finland. My best friend is from Finland, so one day hopefully she will show me around to amazing places.
I’m from Puerto Rico where we traditionally clap when the plain lands, but it’s not for the Pilot. It’s just in celebration that nothing went wrong and we have finally arrived to our destination.
I've been on a holiday twice this year with the plain, within Europe (to Portugal and Croatia from the Netherlands) and no clapping, thankfully lol haha
We had a really heavy landing, could of landed in the sea directly next to the runway, and the pilot came over on the intercom and was like I think we landed… I think we landed 😂😂😂😂😂 so we clapped as were just glad to not be in the sea and glad the plane and us were in one piece, holiday was eventful before we even got out the plane 😂😂😂😂
That sounds terrifying but also hilarious 🤣. I’d say that beats my experience of the pilot missing the runway while landing in Mazatlan Mexico for a spring break vacation. He landed way too early and we touched ground in the desert.
Great vlog! Hope you enjoyed the trip! In Russia and Belarus we clap. Every European country I've been to - people clap. In America, nope, no one claps (at least I haven't seen that happen)
About the clapping on the plane, there’s an airline in Ireland thats notorious for being late so when it lands on time they play a fanfare and everyone claps so
Dianne quickly regretting the faceplants into the snow 💀
Joe: we’re not that drunk
Dianne: literally blowing on her fingers
😭
Dianne actually got the pronounciation of Rovaniemi quite spot on! 😂 Glad to see you’re enjoying Finland 😊🇫🇮
Moii

So happy your in the winter wonderland! Hope you both had a wonderful Christmas trip!! Happy New Year to you and Dianne!!
Clad to see you and Dianne enjoying Finland, glögi, and Finnish food (hands down the best drink to have this time of the year)
Wow! I've never seen snow before! Finland looks magical!!!!

Fantastic looking forward to seeing you both again soon on your Lapland adventure x
Love this!! We’re flying to Finland in four days, i can’t wait! Hope you have had a great trip (despite the Covid)!
I hope you have a great time here! 🥰
Ooo...love those sparkles in the snow! xxx
Me too! It was so pretty!!
Love the holiday vlogs and hope to see more of the holiday. Wishing you both well and safe journey home when you leave isolation, love you both ❤️
In regards to clapping, in Canada people usually clap when there’s bad weather or if the flight got delayed for some reason. I always join the clap 👏
The plane clapping was definitely a bigger thing like 10 years ago I feel, maybe also a tourist thing? One of my absolute DREAM destinations, to be honest! I wish I could move to Finland for a while, get out of the stressful US.
It usually happens in Canada too! Yes, I've asked and they say they can hear. You should hear if it's been a scary landing, everyone hoots and hollers. This also happens in the US when I have flown there, but honestly haven't gone in about 5 years.
Remember watching them practice their dances in old school auditoriums 😭😭😭 They’ve come so far
3:44 Anyone else getting angel imagery with Joe sat in that chair? Probably just me LOL.
Love Dianne falling in the snow 😂 so cue!
Great watch. Makes me want to visit next December. ❤
I loved this vlog, seeing you guys travel is so nice. Take care! X
*Goes on a magical Christmas wonderland festive holiday*
Joe: eats reindeer
Whenever the air plane lands people clap for the pilots. Saying nicely done thanks for a safe trip back home.
In the U.S., people usually only clap on the plane landing when it’s been a particularly difficult flight.
Glad you guys enjoyed Rovaniemi and Finland!! Hope you come again sometime soon!!
My great grandmother is finnish! Literally winter wonderland there🙈
haha, love from Minnesota, USA where the high today is -8 degrees fahrenheit!
you forgetting your coat on the plane reminded me.. back in 2014 my mum picked me and my siblings up from school and drove us to the airport as a surprise for the christmas holidays.. next thing we knew we were in minus 20 degrees in helsinki and then lapland in our school skirts😅 the best memories!
I was tempted to wear my skirt that day too! lucky I didn't!
@@ThatcherJoeVlogs are you still drunk? 😂😂
I'm definitely a clapper. We've been traveling back and forth from the States to Greece since I was baby and have been clapping ever since I learned how!
I'm shocked it's not colder. In Canada, even Toronto is colder. Calgary was -39C yesterday. Now I want to go there.
"My hand is numb, I am slightly drunk and I'm scared of wolves" 😂
I'm from the UK too and fly to Spain and Portugal often (pretty much always easyJet) and I can't really remember a time people clapped. I don't fully understand it, even if the landing is good I feel like the pilot must know we're grateful even without clapping. Lapland looks amazing 🎄
Some say Joe's spirit is still roaming that snowy forest 😂
In New Zealand (especially flying into wellington) if there has been heaps of turbulance just before the landing then people will clap when we land. The wind can be so strong in Welly that the plane tips side to side as you approach the runway... they call it the wellington wave
hope you’re both doing ok! looks so much fun, not sure i could handle the cold! howling at dianne climbing up that hill hahaha🤣
I went to Lapland without children too but it was truly magical x
Love you guys soooooo much I've been watching your videos for years and you never fail to put a smile on my face
I refuse to clap on the plane. Like I dont feel it's necessary? LMAOO - this was a fun time to watch. Your holiday vlogs are v fun

Yep pilots can hear the clapping x

when dianne was waking up that hill all i can think of her saying from last time is " when your drunk you way less" 🤣

Kudos to Joe for knowing the hole in Dianne's hat was for a ponytail
I'm glad you're enjoying your stay in Finland 🥰

Not joe forgetting he had a reindeer sausage last time he was in Finland 😭
Joe, Di and snow what could go wrong 😂

Wow this looks amazing I would love a holiday like this
First! Hope dianne is feeling better xxx

Diane is so funny 😂❤️
I’ve flown between California and Mexico many times and clapping is not common actually but shaking hands with the pilot at the end is a must lol
I would love to spend Christmas in Lapland! It looks amazing!

Joe i really like your mask, where is it from
Most of my flights in the US have clapped when we landed. One hard landing a little girl called out, “that was the worst landing ever!”
Catching up with your vlogs and it would be amazing to see Finland. My best friend is from Finland, so one day hopefully she will show me around to amazing places.

"sorry Rudolph" 🤣🤣

The place looks amazing! Would love to visit one day!
That's a HUGE window!!! Awesome!
Radford family just went there also. Aha looks so cool! Super hot here in Australia
Hello from Canada….here we clap when we land….at least every flight I’ve been on we have clapped.
Here we have a Joe Sugg stuck in the wintery wilderness
The pilots can hear the claps if they are loud enough but it only makes their head grow haha!
Here I am where its -30C with wind chill seeing -12C and being envious lol
Im surprised you guys haven't taken advantage of Dianne isolating and done some daily isolation vlogs
Missed seeing you two hope all okay. I see you still have your tash xxx
Joe being in those woods is how the Blair witch started lol
alt title: 'sloshed aussie in the snow' lol
Amazing looks great! It is on my bucket list
I'm not a plane clapper but people in america do it too sometimes
I'm a Finn and I've never even been to Lapland 🙊 One day though. Happy to see you enjoyed your time! 🇫🇮

In Malta, the landing clapping happens on every flight. Us Maltese are clappers. 😁😁👏👏
Great vlog! Hope you enjoyed the trip!
In Russia and Belarus we clap. Every European country I've been to - people clap. In America, nope, no one claps (at least I haven't seen that happen)
Are you going to do a what I got for Christmas Haul?
OMG YOU WERE FLYING WITH FINNAIR!!! suomi perkele
Dianne so funny 😂
Hubs says no, cannot hear what happens outside the cockpit
Such a cool place!! I bet the air was fresh out there! ❄ 🧊
People always clap on plans in the US when there is bad turbulence and we don’t die. LOL

Ryanair?
Yes they get a 'slow hand clap'
I've always wanted to go there! Hopefully one day my kids would love it 🙂
