Thank you for making up your time and wanting to serve for king and country during the holidays. It is very sad that you can't go see your family on Christmas. Thank you again. Note: Did anyone else spot that the black safety bag was open on one of the guardsman where they strike the rifle to go up to slope arms?
not really a safety bag. more decoration and to protect the rifle sights from scratches during drill.
The 2 young men in front center look about 12 years old.
@@CynthiaBohrer-v9tbit older than that but yes, very young. Possibly new recruits or cadets getting a taste of the real thing.
@@CynthiaBohrer-v9t, I thought they were two girls?
I think they're women.@@CynthiaBohrer-v9t
Your click-bait titles are entirely unnecessary - absolutely nothing in this video is unexpected, as you well know
What was it that no one expected to happen. It was exactly what I expected to happen.
Don't know. How intriguing. Well done though.
Are the two shorter guards in the front line , women? I notice the red band officer had to touch his/her buckle after an inspection had already been made.
Why’s it still say ER?
Alex……. There’s no telling when this video was made, I suggest respectfully.
In the small bags attached to their rifles, what's in there? My guess is bullets? otherwise a solder with a rifle without bullets, isn't guarding anything!
Protective coverings for the sights.
The ammunition will be in the magazine located just behind the pistol grip
clickbait title gets a thumbs down regardless of the content
No one expected what to happen? They were as always extremely smart amazing and a credit to this country
Great Marching and precision drill.//
Was the officer-in-charge looking in the shop for missing / taller guardsmen?🙂
('You wait 4 minutes, then another 20 come along at once.')
I'll bet this lot can't wait to get to Ukraine.
Click bait bs. Soldiers going about their daily duties at Windsor Castle!
Welsh guards and Irish Guards Sergeant! That a first?
I wonder if they develop foot problems with all that stomping they do!
Was there something unexpected here? I may be slow but I did not seee anything out of yhr ordinary? Also, please explain the officer walking from one end to the other twice & rocking each time, maybe he was demonstrating he was sober!!
the officer walking back and forth is an old tradition dating back over 200 years to "prove" to soldiers that they were fit for duty and had not been sitting in the officers tent all day drinking
Just “click bate” making you watch their channel
It’s for changing of the guard
I don’t understand why he walked back and forward for either made no sense to me!!
Nothing unexpected at all. Silly title
What king of special shoes/boots do these people wear that will stand up to all that loud and hard stomping?
Are they at least 18 years old?
Well done. Very smart.
Maybe it is that the Senior Dismounting Sergeant is an Irish Guardsman and the rest of the Guard are Welsh Guardsman, not unusual when there are NCO shortages.
What is the minimum height these days to join up into the Guards?
Well I remember back in 1974 at the tender age of 16 nipping into the Army Careers Office & asking, can I join the army, after a quip of, well you’ll need to get a haircut first, I sat, had a little chat, I was asked did I have a regiment in mind, I knew nothing but I’d watched trooping the colour, so I offered up The Guards, I can still see him giggling, my 5’4” didn’t cut it 😱 5’8” was the target.
If I walked in again these days & having reached the towering man of 5’5” that I am today I’d have sailed in.
4 months after taking that fateful first step, I jumped on a train to start my army career, that lasted 23yrs 203days!!
@@DavidRichards-z2k as we say these days thankyou for your serviceI only managed 11 years including boys service and no pension, but looking back i made some life long good mates.happy new year to you
You were lucky I finished up in the guards.@@DavidRichards-z2k
I AM SO VERY IMPRESSED WATCHING ALL THE OFFICERS INSPECTING THE GUARDS! SOME OF THEM R SO YOUNG!! TOTALLY AMAZING TO SEE. 🥰👋🫡🫡🎄🎄☃️☃️💘💘👏🏻👏🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🎅🤶

The walking up and down something to do with trading from years gone by
Muy bueno que haya este servicio ojala que haya en Argentina
Is this Trumpton
I love this officer, He's wearing high heels, pointed boots and a bear skin that's taller than anyone else's.
All officers have taller bearskins and longer red silk lined Greatcoats plus a wider red trouser stripe.
Some of the soldiers look so young, they aren't done growing yet. Do they sometimes need to be given bigger clothes?
they are in the infantry!
I have absolutely no idea what all that was about...My uncle was a Grenadier Guard...Maybe this lot were auditioning for the remake of 'The Ministry Of Silly Walks' John Cleese would be proud....💂👏😳😂😂
Whats going on
The ceremony was very impressive - so disciplined. 💂🏽♀️💂🏼♂️ The drummers were wonderful 🥁🥁📯
(Title is clickbait - so much respecting our troops. 😐)
The Creme of the Crop as it is with our (American) Military Men and Women. Their sidesteps and synchronized movements are spectacular.
??? 🤔 ??? 🤒 >>> 🚑 !!!
Maybe the music was unexpected. Maybe it was the straight legged marching? Maybe it was the yelling from the leader.
A couple of guys there need to put a bit of jam in their boots… & invite their trousers down for tea ! 😊
Well noted.
I’m pretty sure that we lined the hem of the trouser leg just touching the 2nd lace hole up from the bottom, having served for 24yrs I think my memory serves me right.
The new hessians……..
Do they let children join up now?
No they need to be a certain age and height to apply
The guards do this parade multiple times a day so there is nothing out of the ordinary to see here but I might have missed something who knows 🤔
Box still has ER crest on it.
ruperts done his bit.
Why has the colour sergeant got a big green-ish pom pom in his bear skin, when everybody else has a white-ish one? I think the officer has put too much ellnet on his bearskin as it is not moving in the wind.
Its the rank position
this is just ridiculous.
LETS FACE IT UK HAS BECOME A THEME PARK FOR TURISTS,
Two rows the first line has 3 men the others has 2 men, still looks good 😊.
What was he checking? Very smart guards
The tradition of officers walking back and forth to demonstrate their fitness for duty has indeed been around for centuries. It’s fascinating how certain practices endure over time. Soldiers needed assurance that their officers weren’t idly enjoying libations in their tents!
He is checking that the uniform and footwear are 100% perfect
Yes.
When do we see what happened?
Headline misleading.
Poor welsh guards 💂♂️ that has to work during the holidays sigh 😕💙
Don’t forget the Mick, NCO too😂😂😂
During the holidays the general public have the Guards of the intinary
Had this one officer lost something or had he not got enough steps up on his Fitbit??😮
It's a Guards thing, it basically proves the Officer is sober. However, any office on public duties has to carry out the procedure.
@@williamtraynor-kean7214 I would imagine it is derived from some form of security checking- the officer checking windows and doors.
It's called pacing the Minutes. It is indeed a tradition showing a)that the officer is sober and b)who is the relevant officer for that unit in days gone by. The Guards are strong on tradition, they have 340 odd years of it.
An absolute shower, did I hear the RSM say please ? things have certainly changed since my days as a National service man,a bit staggered hightwise, still theres no buisiness like showbuisines.
ужас
Why is that officer walking so far stopping rocking and turning round ? it looks bonkers.
It's called pacing the minutes. In olden days the officer would pace up and down in front of the guard to prove he was sober enough to lead his troops.
It is called "perambulating" and used to be done more slowly as a casual saunter as a gesture showing contempt of the enemy before a battle. You will notice that he never turns his back on his own soldiers, only the enemy. When he resumes his place in command of the troops it signifies that battle is about to be joined, or nowadays the parade is about to start.
Those coats don't look very good from the back with those open pleats!
I agree the grey winter greatcoats aren't the sharpest looking uniform in the locker, but it's what the PTB mandate for the Guards and many other units. I do like the look of the summer red tunics much better. When I was in the US Marines, we had wool greatcoats (aka: horse blankets) that matched our winter service greens and looked good (and were warm too). Only the Marines at Marine Barracks Washington DC have dark blue greatcoats to match the dress blue uniforms. @@marisarap5788
I would like to know why so many of you making stupid ignorant comments on here, don't watch children's cartoons, that seems to be your level of intelligence, stop watching things you have no concept of.
The officer chappie, the one inspecting the guards, appears to have a bear skin that is more elongated. Why is this so?
Officers wear "longer" as you put it bear skins ..
And a shinier female pelt.
in all probability it might just have been in his family for generations.
Too big for him
I will give you a clue. Have a good look at his boots. He was looking in the shop window for two pair of boots, just like his.
Esto podría tener algún sentido hasta el Renacimiento, pero hoy me resulta una total estupidez.
These uniforms are ugly especially the hats.
Oh ! come on Ducky I find them rather fetching.
no point in all these foot stomping and time wasted changing the guard just walk in smartly as they are line up change guard and back in to the barracks for a meal or a drink im british born but tradition is out of step with the times these are bloody good soldiers but all this square stomping is only good for the tourists
I take it you are a civvy?
That's right, for tourists. What's your frigging point. Just another who couldn't or wouldn't, cut the mustard as they say.
Whinger
Tradition is everything in this amazing brilliant fantastic British Armed Forces. From a Jock.
Ok lets be nice and enjoy the video .
