    My (British) school was pretty chill about phones, as long as it stays quiet and away during lessons it was fine.
    But then they implemented a 'gate to gate' ban due to non-consensual filming and stuff, and they were *strict*. If a phone was spotted at all on school grounds (including the silhouette in your pocket) you would get an immediate detention. If you then refused to hand over the phone, you would get put in RESET (essentially a room you aren't allowed to leave until an agreed-upon time)
    But most people broke those rules anyway

    • @gdtrggaming9855
      @gdtrggaming9855 6 місяців тому +2

      Yeah I live in Australia and my STATE banned phones. What would happen is you put your phone in a pouch at the start of the day (no one does it) and if you get caught or it's heard, it would be confiscated until youur parents picked it up, and if it's caught 2-3 times, you would get suspended. It's treated almost as bad as a FIGHT.

    Me: bring. it. on!
    If that doesn't work...report cards shows a noticeable drop in grades because never paying attention or using phone as a tool
    "Why is my child not doing well?"
    "Too much use of phone, never uses it as a tool, never pays attention."
    Parent: this is unacceptable
    Me: I agree, I warned this was coming, perhaps a conversation with your child about phone discipline is necessary for future success
    Angry Parent: WHAT
    Me: no yelling, now leave
    Angry Parent: no!

    In my Highschool; if they catch you on your phone once, they take it to the office where you pick it up and the end of the day. If they catch you a second time, they repeat the first offense but with a phone call home. God forbid you get it taken a third time, because they confiscate it for 5 days, and if that 5 days leads into a weekend, then you get it taken for those additional days, and if it gets taken for a third time and it's about to be summer break; you don't get it back until the end of summer break, or if you're graduating; they have you come get it on your own time after summer. I don't even know how this is allowed

    I had a Nokia phone back in Year 10 and my ringtone was the rooster crow sound. For some unknown reason, my phone would randomly call itself. One time at school I forgot to turn off my phone and it “rooster-crowed” in science class. Everyone including my teacher looked at me surprised (some laughed) and I apologised and turned off my phone 🤣

    I have a student who comes up to me in class at least once a week being "my mom/grandma/whatever family is calling me" and I just look at her phone and her and sigh.
    She's in 2nd fucking grade lol and there's 8 kids in this class. I usually just let her go out into the hall. This last time I was like "they shouldn't be calling you during class." And she just like. Wiggled in panic. Then grandma hung up and I said "look its not a problem anymore, you can sit back down and keep doing your homework."
