The raids were just your way of trying to start a game of tag, but you found put that the humans and elves in this part of the world are *very serious* about playing tag.
Hoodie Hair: starts pillaging people because they won't visit their fortress... Also Hoodie Hair: "unfortunately, this did not translate into more visitors to my fortress, it did instead translate into constant sieges towards my fortress...." Me: "What the hell did you expect?"
Love your stories! I wonder if doing a few missions of "Demand one-time tribute" to the nearby civilizations would establish contact without war. I've done it before to get more trading partners, but idk how it would work for visitors.
If you want to establish contact with new civs, just send a squad out to one of their settlements and "demand tribute." At worst, they'll just laugh at you and tell you to fuck off, and at best, well, maybe they'll actually give you some free shit! Either way, as of the current version, foreign civs do not react negatively in any way to a tribute demand. A tribute demand cannot cause the other civ to declare war, attack your squad, or do anything negative at all. But doing so will officially establish contact with them and cause them to send out a trade caravan the next time that race normally trades (Elves in Spring, Humans in Summer, and Dwarves in Fall.) The extra trade and spreading word of mouth will help bring more visitors to your fort. Note: if you establish contact with a civ too soon before that race normally trades, then they may not send a caravan until the following year. IDK for sure what the minimum amount of time is you have to give that civ to prepare a trade caravan, but I'm pretty sure that it's just that they can't send a caravan out in the same calendar year that contact is established.
You've inspired me and I would want to try my hand in making short DF content, but I figured there's no point in reinventing the wheel. If you have a moment, can you tell me about your process for recording your gameplay for the videos? Do you just screen-record the entirety of your play sessions then go through it to find the footage you want? How do you get rid of the UI? Thanks in advance!
Opened up caves in search of water. Have 30 dwarves, and about 50 Monster hunters right now. And only because I stopped accepting more monster hunters.
I mean. If you can not get visitors naturally, would it be possible to establish a small fort yourself that would be willing to have some contact with them? If not, it could make for quite an adventure to visit them yourself with a band of adventurers if adventure mode ever becomes a thing.
It was bugging me for a while, as I really enjoy your vids, and I haven't ever played the game, but your mic in older vids feels more comfortable and at-home to the feel, while this one sounds raw and lacks compression. This thought just appears once in a while while watching
that was a sentence i did not want to read, and it's not even true since hoodie attacked *the civilization itself* and not one of the goblin pits it could be at war with
another attempt at diplomacy, another fallout vault. i tend too still lose these becouse the amount of dwarves going mad is always bigger then the amount of children being born :(
Unintentionally, they say...
Love the forgotten beast just chillin outside at the end
It just wants to come in and give the dorfs a big hug!
those drawbridges in the temple actually look really cool

Good story!
Every fort I've had that has had insane amounts of visitors are ones I created then abandoned and immediately reclaimed
What a delightful and disturbing lil story! Thank you!

How long can a fort last if you lock yourself in indefinitely?
Forever, or until the game spawns enough cavern creatures to bring your fps to 1 which will force you to quit out of frustration
@@do0myk And the second can be avoided by having a strong military routinely sweep the caves
If you wait long enough, can the goblin raiders start fighting elves/humans?
no wonder, you used the yandere aproach at geting senpai's attention
