I have never seen a recent production set in ancient Rome or Greece that didn't include such stuff, that's how I learned this was common watching movies. Outside movies made before the 1960's, are those the only production you have seen?

I can't speak for the plot but they nailed the gladiators, almost. The pairing is wrong in that a retarius, net fighter, would never face off against a thrachian. But their equipment was spot on. They even gave the retarius a back-up dagger. Heck, they even included the Charon official in the line up.

Black African slaves did and were apart of Roman history Rome had conquered area of North Africa which black Africans are from. As well Rome did trade with Arab slave traders. We talk a lot about white people in history about slavery but the Arabs were the first to colonize and enslave Africans. But also get it that people feel that woke messages getting slammed in their face.
