How long does it take for the remote and collar to connect on power up? I love the Garmin tracking collars for hunting but they are worthless for around the house training we are condemned to in the north.
Not sure what jorhee is looking for as 24 hours is pretty good for continuous use? I replaced an original tritronics pro 500 with this one. Wasn't completely sure what I was gonna get (wasnt aware that Tritronics had sold their technology to Garmin. Was pleasantly surprised - this unit is better in almost every aspect. Its 4 years old now and still going strong - my field trial friends now use these - which is why I originally purchased the Pro 500, 26 years ago. I figured if it was good enough for the pro trainers, it would be sufficient for my needs. It has yet to disappoint.
The only thing I don’t like is the vibrate operation is very very weak. I originally trained my dogs with a dogtra and they react very well now to vibrate. I got to the point I never needed to nick them anymore, just vibrate. Now with the 550 they can’t feel the vibration. But other than that it’s okay. Not amazing but not bad. I think for the average Joe, dogtra over this all day. It definitely isn’t worth the money compared to a dogtra. MY favorite part is I can control 3 dogs on it. Unfortunately I have 5 but my 2 lead dogs are good off collar. The youngsters still need some correction. If there was ever an “up to 6 dogs” I’d pay out the nose for that. Nice video btw thanks!
Thank you for that insight! I think other’s opinions are just as valuable to people as my own. Having the ability to run even more dogs would be AWESOME, maybe something their looking into for future models? I’ve never noticed that on the vibrate, but thanks for sharing with everyone. I personally don’t use the vibrate function so I’ve never even noticed!
The handheld device doesn’t turn “on” until you push one of your stimulation buttons. It only sends the signal, so it only has to be powered when sending a signal. The collar receives the signal, so it has to be turned on so it’s always ready! Hope that helps it make sense. There’s not a on/off button on the handheld device. Thanks for watching guys!
Great video man! I’m so glad I watched this! I have that same color that you said you switched from and I was wondering if it was my dog or me or what! You sir just sold me this collar!
Thanks for getting straight to the point. No one wants to watch 30 minute video reviews about how grandmas cooking is what made them buy the product

I love mine still! So much I even picked up a used 550 and 2 more collars as a back up. Great system by Garmin.

Hey can I ask what dogtra model did you have? I can’t decide between garmin and dogtra… can you recomend me which one is better?
Do you have a recommendation for the owner to be trained before using this on their dog (I need to know what to do and how to use it correctly!)
Great video boss. Right to the point, my dutchie is responding well in just a week.
Can you turn off the handheld device? I didn’t see a power off option for the controller.
Same, i came to the video to see if he'd go over it. Still don't understand how I turn off the handheld device lol

@@FlyingVOutdoors thank you!
Waterproof (submerged)?
How do you set vibrate mode?

Glad it helped you out!
I've always liked garmin products. And I need to upgrade my collar for my dog. So sounds like a good one to get 👍🏼🤠
Only regret is that I didn’t switch to it sooner!
Is it worth the money? I’m about to buy one but I’ve never used one. My buddy has a sport dog one he’s gonna let me use so
I absolutely love mine. Wish I would’ve got one sooner honestly. I don’t see myself ever owning anything else. 👍🏻
Thank you
Do lights come on when it’s charging ?
Yes, they should.
Awesome review
the only thing not so awesome is the price
Is a lot of money for only 24 hours battery 😢
I agree the barklimiter deluxe lasts like a month for 120$
