I have an 09 6 speed GT which are rare to find nowadays and they’re pretty quick in stock. Soon getting the headers and exhaust installed. Been thinking about getting the GSX or GST 2nd Gen but they’re so hard to find in good conditions in my area.
I have an 03 stratus rt coupe 5 speed, k&n cold air intake, 3 inch headers, rims and tires, 3inch exhaust piping, chromoly flywheel stg 4 clutch. Has 200k miles on it, spun a rod bearing racing in cali ^_^ replacing the engine soon, going to rebuild the old one and put turbo suitable internals and buy the manifolds from a 3000gt vr4 to twin turbo it, supposedly my factory ecu is usable for turboing, and I'm just going to buy a universal twin turbo kit from ebay to start off with and make everything fit before upgrading like the turbos to name brand ones and what not.. also going to replace brakes all the way around w drilled n slotted rotors and upgraded calipers, put on adjustable coilovers, and install poly mount bushings for all the motor mounts and Trans mounts because I snap alot of axles and I've heard it'll help prevent it lol, recently put 245 40 17s on all the way around with performance tread also..
Ultimately I'd like to do a full vr4 swap from a 3000gt , I've seen them built over 1000 horsepower on UA-cam, which if you look Into they're very similarly set up as our eclipses/stratus they're both 6g72 engine family, although the vr4 is Dohc and turbo, and mounted opposite side of the engine bay, and all wheel drive, and was offered with a 6 speed.. lol all the benefits, plus more market for aftermarket offerings...

Yeah, it's the 'girly' variation of the Eclipse family but it did have a good engine with it, unlike the previous 2G which had the damn 420A unless people forked over another 10K for the 4G63/4. I'm still salty about it. Crazy to know you're in Philly. From the sound of things (via Brian of RegularCars) your state is in a perpetual winter. I baby my 1999 Eclipse and wouldn't mind seeking out a 3G to add to my collection however both generation cars are difficult to find not all torn up. Heck, even the 4G is becoming an endangered species. Where are these cars going?

I don’t like the final body style of the eclipse from the late 2000s as well as the infamous lime green you talked about, but the early 2000s ones like yours are my favorite. Realistically the GT has a 3.0L V6 making 200 hp stock so I never understood why people say this isn’t a good car for modification as it wouldn’t be too hard to get it to 400-500 hp if you wanted to.

I think it s more about overall drive ability. The eclipse 3 and 4 comes with weird american engines, much harder to tune. All the eclipses are preety heave cars which combined with front wheel drive makes it slow on turns. and like overall its much easier to make good car from light base. And as long as u buying in us then cars are mostly fine but here in eu there are a lot of rotten ones which with many there is no point in repairing. Anyway I ll still prob get it one day cuz I like the looks and the price is sweet

I don't think the body killed the eclipse, its because it wasn't packing the old engine. So they shit on the car as whole. How much HP can this car push?
@@3GRacing11 I second this motion it's by far the best performance starter simply because the lighter adjustable suspension can shave up .2-.4 off your track times
@@eduardodelgado7873 I would but that means swapping a ton of stuff (wiring and computers) and adding more weight to front axle. The 4g64 definitely meets all my needs and goals, plus if I want to go awd it should bolt to an evo transaxle. A built 4g64 is better for power than a stock 6g7
I had the pleasure of driving a V6 3G today and I must say it's an entirely different experience from the 2.4 it's a lot snappier if you aren't prepared for the power it's putting down but I need to know the location of these waters I got some fishing to do 🤣🤣🤣
@@3GRacing11 sounds like I'm heading up north because the racing dow south here in VA isn't the best mostly 1/8 mile tracks a few 1/4 mile tracks and sad part unless you're pushing a V8 or insane numbers most people won't even let you run unless you're taking back road runs

Lol you will learn when the problems arise. The engine and the transmission are fine it's all the sensors that give out. Over heating in these is the biggest issue

Manual is quicker but I used to have an auto and I had a blast in that car as well!

Yessir it’s doable with the right knowledge and tools, I have both a 3k and an eclipse and they are both great cars to build on

I run 245-45-17 for my tires and they didn’t fit perfect being as low as I am so I had to cut some plastic but it is worth it
