A wood drag is used behind a rotary cutter to attempt to remove a thistle infestation from a pasture and also tear apart fire ant nests. A fire ant nest is shown with ants erupting from it.
My dad lived in midland and used grits to get rid of fire ants. When he saw activity/ nest building, he would pour a circle around nest... not disturbing the nest. They take back to nest, feed to colony... the grits expand in gut and they blow up. Said 2 weeks tops, nest is dead.

That's interesting, never heard of that before. I'll have to give that a try. I hate dealing with all the poisons.
