  • The Piano Sonata, Op. 27, No. 2, commonly known as the Moonlight Sonata, is said to have gotten its name from the poet Rellstaff, who, upon hearing the first movement, wrote that it sounded "like a little boat bobbing in the moonlight on Lake Lucerne in Switzerland."
    Beethoven's own name for this sonata is QuasiunaFantasia.
