I own one of these and you can see every single fish clearly to the bottom. But you shouldn't turn off the automatic gain for that. And that was the first thing you did.
If you were a diver and you wanted to capture more data about your dive site would this make sense to attach to yourself? If you are more than 200 feet away does it do anything?
Jeff, from what I've been reading and watching other videos, there is a setting within the app that allows you to change it from being the traditional sonar to it actually saying that there is a fish on the screen.
You can see fish with this device but you had your settings messed up. Set gain and depth scale to automatic at first. Actually you can even see your lure if you reel it under the scope.
In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.
Try leaving the gain on Auto first, if that doesn't produce a good image, then try manually adjusting the gain. It can be tricky in wavy water because all that turbulence echos. That is when you want to turn down the gain.
Is this video about you fishing or the sonar? Would be nice if you left the sonar out there somewhere in the area of where you were fishing. Just to see if it was picking up fish even if you were missing them in that area.
Not sure I am down with the castable sonar. I barely get any use out of the one on my kayak. It is useful for depth but it has never helped me catch anything
Not sure if u have videos on this but if u know anything about the difference of the deeper chirp +2 and the deeper pro +2 it would be nice to know what they're capable and not capable of
I am in the market for my first Sonar. I am looking to use it mostly for finding cover and structure in 10' to 25' fishing from a kayak. I am looking at the garmin striker 4. Do you think this will be comparable If I have it mounted to the side of the yak? I like the convenience of the all in one vs having to have a battery and separate sonar.
@@6030jdr I'm not sure what your point is. you're trying to compare it to a boat mount set up. You can't. This is made really for people that fish the bank. Before I got a boat. I found one on marketplace for $100.
@Frogmanpipes a lot of people are using them for kayaking. There are garmin and Lawrance for that price that are real setups with mounts, 5_7" screens, marine batteries that actually work. Companies run up prices is my point.
Would have been nice if you cast the sonar where you were catching to set up the garman. Other ppl said you missed a bunch of settings. So all in all,not a good video.
Something just occurred to me. I've been fishing for over 50 years and I've never seen a dead bass floating in the water that hadn't been mauled by a predator. If it had been me I think I'd have kept the fish and taken it to Fish & Game. It's probably nothing, but it would be nice to know if it was some kind of parasite or if there might be something else in the water that's not good for the fish.
It probably got gut hooked and the person didn’t know how to deal with it. Unfortunately when I started bass fishing this happened to me and I still think about that fish😢
Boy, if I was Garmin I'd be a bit peeved. You just busted it open turned off the settings, threw it out then said, this sucks! Ouch dude. I got one and it is fantastic. Shows structure, depth, temp, real fish approx size. Can draw contour lines and map your pond or spot. Well worth the money. I even use a short zebco dock demon to cast. Great in a kayak.
What did I turn off? I got it out, did the set up process they outlined and used it. That’s what the average user would do. I like garmin and use many of their products. The deeper sonar is miles ahead of this
@@aaanglersjust the auto gain. Works best to get started with. I did the same thing, then turned it back on. But I worked with it for about 5 min and I was getting fish everywhere they were supposed to be. I trust ya about the other one, this is the only one I've bought and used. Does the job for me.

This is good not necessarily for finding fish but for finding bottom structure and to know how deep to set your bobber lead for that area.

When you go to the gain you see more settings and that is where you find the fish symbols and background. It is awesome
Very helpful. I'm a bank fisherman trying to step up my game this spring at some of my local lakes. Whenever my ice melts of course

Is this Garmin sonar worth it in your opinion?
You can change the fish icon to show a actual fish image with depth above icon.
Never fished the gigantic micro, but the strike king bitsy minnow is a slow sinking mini squarebill.
Not sure I am down with the castable sonar. I barely get any use out of the one on my kayak. It is useful for depth but it has never helped me catch anything
Agreed
I love me some mepps! Also some panther martins! Black n yellow!
Black and yellow panther martin catches trout anywhere anytime
Thought it was Debo’s fishing in the thumbnail though
I could see this being really cool on a kayak, could probably just attach it and paddle to see what’s going on underneath you
Love my BFS set up. Having a blast with it!!
I just bought one today hopefully it goes well!
Looks like a fun day of fishin! Good stuff.
Watching him get excited over baby bluegills.
I can't help you if you don't have fun catching all kinds of fish.
Not sure if u have videos on this but if u know anything about the difference of the deeper chirp +2 and the deeper pro +2 it would be nice to know what they're capable and not capable of
In river river with any chop the garmin is worthless .in calm slow moving water it works great for me
That air wad that fish did deserved a like on your video
Maybe the fish were out fishing that day 🤣

It’s a good option, but it’s not really built to compete with a full sonar rig
Spend the extra money and get the deeper sonar. Pro+
@@frogmanpipes9561 that's well into the price point for a very good real setup. These price points are ridiculous

I really got that a gift for my husband for his birthday. He is not understand what is this about? Lol 😂
Battle of the bank sonar! Nice, bDooley! 😁👍
I'm just starting out, after many years and looking at the striker cast. i was wondering what size/power rod are you using to cast it?
Heavy 7’3” is the way to go
Awesome video rather just hunt when bank fishing no sonar
Have you tried the lowrance fish Hunter 3D? If so what are your thoughts on it?
I have not, I’ll take a look

Largemouth I caught last night did that haha(airwalk)
Great video!
Its good sonar if you can use it.
6:13 top left of the app why doesn’t this small sonar report the depth in shallow water that’s not good for my application! Cheers, #SeattleRingHunter
not sure, wasn't a big fan myself
Does this thing floats ? Cause I wanna buy one
Yes
I think I screwed up I threw my phone in water a d was holding the sonar is that bad.
What's the model you refer to that goes for $299¿
Deeper sonar
Did you throw out the lake?
Nice video. What kind of line are you using and what kind of rod? Keep up the good work
Non gps version is under $100
Can’t trust anyone who uses a left handed baitcaster

Deeper is junk... I would take lucky before deeper ;)
"I'm not seeing any fish marks... But it's finding lots of cover."
🤦
This is why I hate the term "fish-finder."
Need to put your crocks in offroad mode (strap behind the foot)
That was a fail lol. ALWAYS OFFROAD!
Lol , #4 black furry.......best fish slayer of all time, deeper is much better

13 seconds in, my money says no. 😄
Has anyone tried mounting this to like a toy boat and send it over?
Sounds genius

You didn't even come close of the use of this device
Deeper All the way, yo.
All of your "tanks" were average size.
😵🤕k
scrap for today
oof this was hard to watch
I gave you a dis like you spent more time fishing than testing the device.
I gave ya one back lol
He's right though 🫠
Takes over 4 min to get to the point.
This was more like “watch me fish” instead of “review this sonar” 👎
Dude... you have your terminology all messed up.. you keep using the word "tank" when you should be saying "dink"
K
some useless video
Thanks buzz.
